This research examines the effect of adding aluminum on the structural, phasic, and magnetic properties of CoCrFe NiMnAlx high-entropy alloys. To this aim, the arc-melt process was used under an argon atmosphere for preparing cast samples. The phasic, structural, and magnetic properties of the samples were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and vibrational magnetometry (VSM) analyses. Based on the results, the addition of aluminum to the compound caused changes in the crystalline structure, from FCC solid solution in the CoCrFeNiMn sample to CoCrFeNiMnAl BBC solid solution. It was associated with changes in the magnetic property of CoCrFeNiMnAlx high-entropy alloys, from paramagnetic to ferromagnetic. The maximum saturation magnetization for the CoCrFeNiMnAl casting sample was estimated to be around 79 emu/g. Despite the phase stability of the FCC solid solution with temperature, the solid solution phase formed in the CrCrFeNiMnAl high-entropy compound was not stable, and changed into FCC solid solution with temperature elevation, causing a reduction in saturation magnetization to about 7 emu/g.

Phylon molds are widely used for injection molding of foams used in shoe outsoles. Injection pylon molds are usually prepared by first casting the aluminum alloy and then applying an anodized coating to improve durability. This study was carried out to examine the durability of aluminum phylon molds. The aluminum materials used in this study were A771, A6061, and AC4C, and their mechanical properties were compared. Specimens for anodic oxidation tests were prepared with coating thicknesses of approximately 10 and 40 ㎛. We tried to select the optimum material and coating thickness suitable for fabricating phylon injection molds. Among the three materials, A6061 exhibited the best tensile, wear, and impact properties. The difference in the wear resistance between the soft- and hard-anodized coatings was insignificant.

Efforts have been made to develop new silicon-free aluminum casting alloys that possess high electrical and thermal conductivity. In this research Al-Fe-Cu-Mg alloys with various Cu and Mg contents were investigated for their various properties. As the Cu or Mg content was increased, the electrical conductivity gradually decreased, while the tensile strength of the Al-Fe-Cu-Mg alloy tended to be improved. It was found that fluidity was generally inversely proportional to the Cu content, but the alloys containing 1%Mg showed considerably low fluidity, regardless of the Cu content.

There are some methods that have been used to manage a degasing process in recent years, such as an injection method that uses aluminum molten metal powder and chemicals supplier and input method that supplies argon and nitrogen, or chlorine gas by using a gas blow-tube. However, these methods show some problems, and it shows that it is a difficult process to handle, pollution due to producing a lot of toxic gases like chlorine and fluoride gas, irregular effects, and lowering work efficiency due to the excessive processing time. The problems that are the most fatal are the producing a lot of sludge due to the reaction of aluminum molten metal with chemicals, loss of metals, and decreasing the life of refractory materials. In order to solve these problems, this paper develops a technology that is related to aluminum continuous casting molten metal and monolithic degasing apparatus. A degasing apparatus developed in this study improved the existing methods and prevented environmental pollution with smokeless, odorless, and harmlessness by using a new method that applies argon and nitrogen gas in which the methods used in the West and Japan are eliminated. The method developed in this study decreases the molten metal processing and settling time compared to the existing methods and improves the workers' health, safety, and environment because there is no pollution in processes.
Variations of nickel contents and microstructures in molten magnesium alloys on the addition of aluminum, zirconium, and manganese have been investigated. Specimens were prepared by melting under $SF_6$ and $CO_2$ atmosphere and casting into a disc of 29 mm diameter with 7~10 mm thickness from the melt acquired at the top of crucible. Before casting, the molten metal was stirred for 3 minutes after each addition of alloying elements and maintained for 30 minutes for settling down. Results showed that zirconium did not significantly affect the content of nickel while aluminum remarkably reduced it by forming $Al_3Ni_2$ phase. When manganese are added to Mg-1wt%Ni alloy along with aluminum, both elements remarkably reduced the content of nickel. The addition of 1.5 wt% manganese to Mg-1wt%Ni alloy containing aluminum further reduced the content of nickel by more than 30%, during which an additional intermetallic phase $Al_{10}Mn_3Ni$ was precipitated in the molten magnesium.
Recently, the automotive industry has replaced cast iron to lightweight materials like aluminum for engine efficiency of automobiles and an emission control by government. In this paper we studied two auto parts manufacturing methods using an alloy of A356. That is gravity casting and H-NCM Rheo-diecasting forging. We analyzed the microstructure and mechanical properties for this method. In Microstructure analysis results, H-NCM Rheo-diecasting forging has more finer microstrucre and better forging effect. Resulting in better mechanical properties than gravity forging.
This paper describes the investment casting of TiAl alloys. The effects of mold material and mold preheating temperature for the investment casting of TiAl on metal-mold interfacial reaction were investigated by means of optical micrography, hardness profiles and an electron probe microanalyzer. The mold materials examined were colloidal silica bonded ZrO₂, ZrSiO₄, A1₂O₃and CaO stabilized ZrO₂. When compared with conventional titanium a1loy, the high aluminum concentration of TiAl alloys helps to lower their reactivity in the molten state. The A1₂O₃mold is a promising mold material for the investment casting of TiAl in terms of the thermal stability, formability and cost. Special attention need to be paid to thermal stability and mold preheating when developing the investment calling of TiAl alloys.
Aluminum alloys have been widely used in engine materials, cold & hot-water storage vessels and piping etc., Furthermore, the aluminum alloy of AC8A have been widely used in mold casting material of engine piston for various vehicles because of its properties of temperature, wear and corrosion resistance. Therefore, it is considered that evaluation of corrosion resistance as well as wear resistance of AC8A material is also important to improve its property and to prolong its lifetime. In previous paper, the effect of solution($510^{\circ}C$:4hrs) and tempering($190^{\circ}C$: 16, 24, and 36 hrs)heat treatments to corrosion resistance and hardness were investigated using electrochemical method. In this study, in order to examine completely the effect of the tempering hours to hardness variation and corrosion resistance, the results of solution($510^{\circ}C$:4hrs) and tempering($190^{\circ}C$: 2, 4, 8 and 12hrs)heat treatments to hardness and corrosion resistance were investigated using electrochemical method. The hardness decreased with solution heat treatment compared to mold casting condition, but its value increased with tempering heat treatment. Furthermore, the corrosion resistance increased with decreasing of the hardness, and decreased with increasing of the hardness reversely. And the tempering heat treatment temperature at $190^{\circ}C$ for 8 hrs exhibited the highest value of the hardness and also indicated the highest corrosion current density. However, the values of hardness and corrosion current density was again increasingly decreased with increasing of tempering hours than 8 hrs, Consequently, it is suggested that decision of the optimum. tempering hours is very important to improve the corrosion or wear resistance.

Gas porosity which is a common defect in aluminum alloy casting, is also thought to be severer in aluminum alloy castings produced by lost foam process due to the pyrolysis of the polystyrene foam pattern during pouring. Fundamental experiments were carried out to evaluate the effect of process variables such as the melt treatment, the cooling rate and pouring temperature on the density and mechanical properties in A356.2 castings with simple bar shape. The density of grain refined specimen was slightly lower than that of degassed one, but was higher than that of no treated one and that of shot ball packed specimen was higher than the other specimens. The tensile strength and elongation were in the ranges of $200{\sim}230MPa$ and $0.5{\sim}1.5%$ respectively. The density and hardness of lost foam cast specimens decreased with increase in pouring temperature.

Conventionally, Al-Sn bearing manufacturing involves casting the Al-Sn alloy and roll-bonding to a steel backing strip. This article will describe the microstructural control of Al-Sn metal bearing alloy following heat treatment. When the pure aluminum rod dipped in the melt of tin maintained below the melting point of aluminum, the melting of aluminum was accelerated with penetration of tin along the grain boundary of aluminum. The length of plate-shaped eutectic tin was decreased with heat treatment time. With even longer heat treatment time over 1 hour the length of eutectic tin didn't decrease any more, while resulting in coarsening of aluminum matrix. Exuded liquid of eutectic tin was formed at the surface of Al-Sn alloy after heat treatment even at below eutectic temperature.
