Characteristic Evaluation of Aluminium Filler Tube of Automotive (자동차 알루미늄 필라튜브의 특성평가)

  • The characteristic evaluation of an aluminium filler tube for automotive is presented in this paper. The material of filler tube was used AL3003 aluminium. In characteristic evaluation of an aluminium filler, we measured the corrosion, chemical resistance, weight, leak, welding strength, exciting endurance, and the solt spray test etc.. It has been shown that the weight decreased approximately 61% in aluminum filler tube developed comparing with steel filler tube. As the characteristic evaluation on the manufactured aluminium filler it was enough satisfied to use at the automotive filler tube.

  • The excellent beam quality of high power fiber lasers are commonly used for remote welding applications in body job applications. The Welding speed and productivity is unmatched with any other welding technology including resistance spot welding or traditional laser welding. High tooling cost for clamping and bulky safety enclosures are obstacles which are limiting the use. With the newly developed Laser stitch welding gun we have an integrated clamping in the process tool and the laser welding is shielded in a way that no external enclosure is needed. Operation of this laser welding gun is comparable with resistance spot welding but 2-times faster. Laser stitch welding is faster than spot welding and slower than remote welding. It is a laser welding tool with all the laser benefits like welding of short flanges, weld ability of Ultra High Strength steel, 3 layers welding and Aluminium welding. Together with low energy consumption and minimum operation cost of IPG fiber laser it is a new and sharp tool for economic car body assembly.

  • Friction welding of GCD45 spheroidal graphite cast iron and 2024 aluminum alloy has been studied, especially in terms of the joint faces and strength of friction welding. For appropriate results of the friction welding of GCD45 graphite cast iron and 2024 aluminum alloy, an insert of A1050 pure aluminum metal was used. The joint strength of the A1050 pure aluminum insert approached the maximum strength of 165.7Mpa, compared to 128MPa for the joint between GCD45 graphite cast iron and A1050 pure aluminum without the insert metal. Maximum strength, 165.7Mpa, was possible for the following optimum conditions: 20MPa for the friction pressure, P1, 60MPa for the upsetting pressure, P2, 1 second for the friction time, t1, 3000rpm for the rotation, N, and 0.3 seconds for the brake time, tB.

  • Friction stir welding is a relatively new solid state joining process. A6061-T6 and A5052-H32 aluminium alloy has gathered wide acceptance in the fabrication of light weight structures requiring a high strength to weight ratio and good corrosion resistance. This friction stir process uses a non-consumable tool to generate frictional heat in the abutting surfaces. The welding parameters such as tool rotational speed, welding speed, etc., and tool pin profile play a major role in deciding FSP zone formation in A6061-T6 and A5052-H32 aluminium alloy. Three different tool pin profiles have been used to fabricate the dissimilar butt joints. The formation of friction stir processed zone has been analysed macroscopically. Tensile properties of the joints have been evaluated and correlated with the friction stir processed zone formation.

  • Since its invention at TWI in 1991, Friction Stir Welding (FSW) has become a major joining process in the aerospace, railway and ship building industries especially in the fabrication of aluminium alloys. In an attempt to optimize the friction stir welding process of Al alloys for extrusion Aluminium carbody of HEMU-400X (Extrusion Aluminum 6xxx series), effects of joining parameters such as tool rotating speed, plunging depth and dwelling time on the weld joints properties were evaluated. Experimental tests were carried out for butt joined Al plates. A wide range of joining conditions could be applied to join Al alloys for Extrusion Aluminum 6xxx series without defects in the weld zone except for certain welding conditions with an insufficient heat input. The microstructures of welds have dynamic-recrystallized grain similar to stir zone in FSW weld. For sound joints without defects, at the rotation speed of 700 rpm with different welding speeds, the tensile strengths of the Stir Zone(SZ) were almost the same, 80% of those of the base metal.   • Recently in the welding field, the establishment of unmanned and automated systems are rapidly developing. Accurate interpretation of the welding phenomenon is applied a number of monitoring systems. In this paper, butt welding (6t) type I using Plasma-MIG welding was carried out. And we evaluated characteristics of the Al-5083 aluminium alloy in Plasma-MIG hybrid welding. Process variables including the plasma current, MIG voltage, wire feeding rate and the welding speed were used. Butt welding was conducted 1 pass. Argon gas was used as the protective gas that results from the experiment were able to achieve full penetration. In addition to monitoring the welding process occurring during MIG welding current, welding votage and Plasma current, voltage were collected in real time, the photodiode and CCD cameras observing the phenomenon that the welding is in progress were measured using a quantity of light.

  • In this study, MIG welding was performed on extruded 6005A-T6 material, which is used in the base panel of railway vehicles. The material was considered as the experimental base material, and argon shielding gas and ER5356 and ER4043 filler metals were used as the consumable welding materials. Welding coupons were prepared under various welding conditions by using an auto-welding system that various welding conditions applied 2.5Hz and 4.5Hz the pulse frequency of SynchroPuls function of welding machine and 1.0mm and 1.5mm of root face affect the weld penetration of welding joint. The welding current and voltage were also varied for this testing. On the basis of the results obtained, optimum welding conditions are proposed.
