A new pressurized sol-gel coating technique forming membrane layers inside pores of the porous support by the simple operation has been developed. Crack-free and reproducible nanoparticulate silica membranes supported on the porous $\alpha$-alumina tube are synthesized by pressurized coating at 600kPa for 2hr. The pore radius and N2 gas permiability at the room temperature of silica membrane layers are 8$\AA$ and 7.0$\times$10-7mol/$m^2$.s.Pa, respectively. The mechanism of N2 gas transfer through synthesized membrane layers is the perfect Knudeen flow, and the thermal stability of the silica composite membranes is excellent upto 40$0^{\circ}C$.
The sols prepared by dialyzing solutions, in which the hydrolyzed precipitates of TEOT or directly Ti(OC3H7)4 were resolved, were the nanoparticulate sol with the average particle size less than 7 nm and the anatase crystal phase. In the pH range of 1.5 to 2.9, the particle size of the nanoparticulate TiO2 sols (0.09 mol/ι) increased gradually upto 15 nm~26nm with the increase of pH in the initial aging state but the sols were transparent all the time, and stable without growin any more after 30 days. When the slipcasted porous alumina tubes were coated by the sol-gel dipping method, the minimum particle size and the aging time for forming the coated gel layer at the given pH were optimized. For obtaining the very thin crack-free and reproducible membrane coating, the use of a nanoparticulate TiO2 sol (0.09 mol/ι) aged for about 30 dyas at pH=2.0 was found to be the best.
This paper presents the preparation of SnO$_2$ films by Sol-Gel process and using spin coating method, and their sensing properties in CO gas. Experimental procedure consisted of following steps: (1) Tin chloride(SnCl$_4$) and Ammonium hydrogen carbonate (NH$_4$HCO$_3$) were used as precursors; (2) the Sol solution with concentration of about 10wt% SnO$_2$ was prepared from washed Gel-precipitate for spin coating step; (3) thereafter, the coating solution was dropped onto the alumina (Al$_2$O$_3$) substrate that was then spun, the spin coating was carried out with total 10 times; (4) finally, the films were calcined for 3 hours at 50$0^{\circ}C$ or higher temperature (600, 700, 800 or 90$0^{\circ}C$) in order to obtain various gram sizes. The average grain size was calculated by Scherrer's equation using main peaks in XRD spectra; meanwhile the thickness, microstructure and surface morphology of the films were observed by FE-SEM.
To direct the evolution of nanostructure and immobilize ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst, nanocrystalline La-doped-$Al_2O_3$ powder were prepared by the sol-gel process with addition of an amphiphilic block copolymer template (pluronic P123: $(poly(ethyleneoxide)_{20}-poly(propyleneoxide)_{70}-poly(ethyleneoxide)_{20})$. The dried gel is amorphous, whereas heating at temperature above $700^{\circ}C$ leads to the formation of nanocrystalline ${\gamma}$ and ${\delta}-Al_2O_3$ and these two phases is kept until $1100^{\circ}C$. ${\alpha}-A1_2O_3 $starts to form at $1200^{\circ}C$ with $LaAl_{11}O_{18}$. The surface morphology and crystal structure has been observed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Solid state $^{27}Al$ MAS NMR indicates two types of local environment, i.e. octahedral and tetrahedral sites. The surface area and pore size was compared among these powders using the BET nitrogen adsorption measurements.
ZSM-5 membrane was prepared on tubular macroporous ${\alpha}$-alumina support using a different synthesis route. The effects of organic template agent and Si/Al ratio of the synthesis gel on morphology, structure, and separation performance of the ZSM-5 membrane used for dehydration of isopropanol were investigated. High water perm-selectivity ZSM-5 membrane with a thickness of about $3.0{\mu}m$ and a low Si/Al ratio of 10.1 was successfully prepared from organotemplate-free synthesis gel with a molar composition of $SiO_2$ : $0.050Al_2O_3$ : $0.21Na_2O$ : NaF : $51.6H_2O$ at $175^{\circ}C$ for 24 h. The ZSM-5 membrane exhibited high pervaporation performance with a flux of $3.92kg/(m^2{\cdot}h)$ and corresponding separation factor of higher than 10,000 for dehydration of 90 wt.% isopropanol/water mixture at $75^{\circ}C$.
Physical exercise, especially intense exercise and high intensity interval training (HIIT) by trampoline, can lead to muscle injuries. These effects can be reduced with intelligent products made of nanocomposite materials. Most of these nanocomposites are polymers reinforced with silicon dioxide, alumina, and titanium dioxide nanoparticles. This study presents a polymer nanocomposite reinforced with silica. As a result of the rapid reaction between tetraethyl orthosilicate and ammonia in the presence of citric acid and other agents, silica nanostructures were synthesized. By substituting bis (4-amino phenoxy) phenyl-triptycene in N, N-dimethylformamide with potassium carbonate, followed by catalytic reduction with hydrazine and Pd/C, the diamine monomer bis (4-amino phenoxy) phenyl-triptycene is prepared. We synthesized a new polyaromatic (imide) with triptycene unit by sol-gel method from aromatic diamines and dianhydride using pyridine as a condensation reagent in NMP. PI readily dissolves in solvents and forms robust and tough polymer films in situ. The FTIR and NMR techniques were used to determine the effects of SiO2 on the sol-gel process and the structure of the synthesized nanocomposites. By using a simultaneous thermal analysis (DTA-TG) method, the appropriate thermal operation temperature was also determined. Through SEM analysis, the structure, shape, size, and specific surface area of pores were determined. Analysis of XRD results is used to determine how SiO2 affects the crystallization of phases and the activation energy of crystallization.
This study has been focused on the partial oxidation(POX) of n-octane over Rh-containing catalysts supported on alumina. The catalysts for this reaction were prepared by incipient wetness(IW) and co-gel(CG) methods, followed by the calcination at $900{\circ}C$ or $1,200{\circ}C$. When applied to the POX of n-octane carried out at $600{\circ}C$ with C/O=3 and GHSV=3,450/h, the catalyst prepared by the CG method and calcined at $1,200{\circ}C$ showed the best activity, yielding 42% syngas($H_2$+CO) with the $H_2$/CO ratio of $2{\sim}2.4$. To enhance the activity and stability of catalysts, bimetallic catalysts were synthesized by the CG method. As a result, the performance of Rh-Ni/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst was superior to that of Rh/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst in terms of the catalyst stability, due to the retarding effect on the Rh-to-$Rh_2O_3$ transition by the addition of Ni. This result was confirmed by XRD, TEM, and TPR characterizations.
