  • The semiconductor industry is highly capital and technology intensive. Technology advancement on circuit design and process improvement requires chip makers continuously to invest a new fabrication facility that costs more than 3 billion US dollars. Especially major semiconductor companies recently started to discuss 450mm fabrication substituting existing 300mm fabrication of which facilities were initiated to build in 1998. If the plan is consolidated, the yield of 450mm facility would be more than doubled compared to existing 300mm facility. In steps of this important investment, facility layout has been acknowledged as one of the most important factors to be competitive in the market. This research proposes a new concept of semiconductor facility layout using hexagonal floor plan and its compatible material flow pattern. The main objective of this proposal is to improve the productivity of the unified layout that has been popularly used to build existing facilities. In this research, practical characteristics of the semiconductor fabrication are taken into account to develop a new layout alternative based on the analysis of Chung and Tanchoco (2009). The performance of the proposed layout alternative is analyzed using computer simulation and the results show that the new layout alternative outperforms the existing layout alternative, unified layout. However, a few questions on space efficiency to the new alternative were raised in communication with industry practitioners. These questions are left for a future study.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the arrangement type and the improvement of the Collective Facility Areas in Korean National Park. The process of this study consists of 3-steps. The first step is to analyze spatial patterns of each Collective Facility Area and categorize Collective Facility Areas into 3 types. In the second step, the critical issues are found in landscape management of Collective Facility Areas. Thirdly the alternative design of each case which can be applicable to the planning of the Collective facility Area is suggested.

  • The study on the existing multi-utility tunnel has examined the general aspects related to the installation of multi-utility tunnel rather than the optimal design and feasibility analysis of accommodation facility in multi-utility tunnel. In the basic planning stage related to the introduction of multi-utility tunnel, it is difficult to determine accommodation facility due to lack of relevant indicators and data. In this paper, VE/LCC analysis method is suggested for the optimal alternative decision of accommodation facilities in multi-utility tunnel. The analysis of the items of individual accommodation facility and the value index for LCC costs were applied to the kind alternatives, and the priorities of each kind were analyzed. In addition, the domestic multi-utility tunnel and analysis result are compared. The result of this study will be helpful to shorten the time and convenience of the user in the process of determining accommodation facility including the first designers when introducing multi-utility tunnel.

  • By the rapid technological advance and social needs, demand of Multi Function Facility is on the increase. The multiplex is an alternative of them. In case of fire, special function of facility nay result in terrible accident. Therefore, literature and regulations survey on the multiplex were enforced, Multiplex facilities in Daejeon City were surveyed, and reformation of regulation and structural system were suggested in this study.

  • In this paper, an alternative inventory policy that trades off the bullwhip effect at an upstream facility with cost minimization at a current facility, with the goal of reducing system wide total expected inventory costs, when external demand distributjon is autocorrelated, is considered. The alternative inventory policy has a form that is somewhere between one that completely neglects the autocorrleation and one that actively utilizes the autocorrelation. For this purpose, a mathematical model that allows us to evaluate system wide total expected inventory costs for a periodic review system is developed. This model enables us to identify an optimal inventory policy at a current facility that minimizes system wide total expected inventory costs by the best tradeoff of the bullwhip effect at an upstream facility with cost minimization at a current facility. From numerical experiments, it has been found that (i) when the autocorrelation is negative, the optimal policy is one that actively utilizes the autocorrelation, (ii) when the autocorrelation is small and positive, the optimal policy is one that neglects the autocorrelation, and (iii) when the autocorrelation is large and positive, the optimal policy is somewhere between one that actively utilizes the autocorrelation and one that neglect the autocorrelation.

  • Semiconductor industry has large number of chemical inventory and is easily exposed to chemical release incidents. Toxic release is one of the most interested area in evaluating consequence to the vicinity of industry facilities handling hazardous materials. Hydrofluoric acid is one of the typical chemical used in semiconductor facility and is selected and toxic release is evaluated to assess the risk impacted to its off-site. Accident scenarios were listed using process safety information. The scenarios having effect to the off-site were selected and assessed further according to guideline provided by Korea government. Worst case and alternative scenarios including other interested scenarios were evaluated using ALOHA. Each evaluated scenario was assessed further considering countermeasures. The results showed that the facility handling hydroflooric acid is safe enough and needed no further protections at the moment.

The expansion of the elderly welfare facility of the area where is located among the rest in the situation as a matter of metropolitan area of domestic ephemerality and the price of land which the earth has, duplication operation etc. is having a problem point and the ephemerality which are various. About of composition different facility and leads with alternative and expansion and function of function and facility leads and the synergy effect which is various shows. So this study is consequently does the school facility which is located in life circle of the city center in middle of composition of the elderly welfare facility and other facility and in the object and under proposing boil the complex at the time of spatial composition blueprint with the elderly welfare facility and the school.

  • The simulation of water balance was conducted for suggested four alternative multi-layer cover design of near-surface radioactive waste disposal facility under domestic climate condition. The analysis was also conducted for the most favorable one out of four alternative cover design under conservative scenarios. Until 100 years after closure of disposal vault, the infiltration flux for the most favorable cover design was negligible even under doubling of the ambient precipitation condition. When the degradation of asphalt and geomembrane after 100 years of closure was considered, the infiltration flux significantly increased almost to the design criteria of cover system in I' Aube disposal facility. And it was found that the hydraulic conductivity of bentonite/sand as a bottom barrier should be no greater than 1$\times$10$^{-7}$ cm/sec recommended by U.S. EPA.

  • This study attempts to establish sewerage underground facility map using aerial photograph with high readability and accessibility as an alternative of digital map and compilation cadastral map. A study on utility and consistency of established sewerage underground facility map in line with the current continuous cadastral map of underground facility was carried out. If underground facility map is established and utilized by converging digital image and compilation cadastral map, various spatial information analysis and systematic and integrated information utilization is available. The drawing of underground facility map using aerial photograph in this highly information-oriented society shall play a role in basic map for integrated control as an alternative of problems in the current drawing and designs created and managed by controlling institutions. In addition, the information of sewerage underground facility map using aerial photograph shall be used for establishing systematized urban planning and control.
