  • Our country is promoting the introduction of new means of transportation due to insufficient supply according to the existing demand of road traffic. Among them, manless light railroad transit is settled down as the most definite alternative. However, new traffic systems such as manless light railroad have certain difference between characteristics of hardware and software and subway system. Therefore, there will be many differences compared to the existing contingency system when accidents occur. Railway management organization has to establish railway contingency plan and acquire permission from the minister of the Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs. However, as commercial transportation is available, a new traffic system also should establish contingency plan. Therefore, the establishment of systematic contingency plan is suggested in order to analyze characteristics of manless light railroad in the beginning of introduction and to make contingency response available.

  • Recently, with traffic SOC investment policy changing from road-centered to railway-centered according to environment-friendly and sustainable development, issues regarding overlapping and overinvestment of traffic facility have been raised. Regarding investment of various traffic facilities of which departure and destination are similar to each other, academia, civic organizations, government, etc. are recognizing problems including overlapping investment of budget, environmental destruction, etc., but not suggesting definite solutions. Objective transportation network analysis is required because various positive effects including solutions of delay/congestion may occur due to provision of alternative way and distribution of the amount of traffic when accidents occur, as well as negative effects suggested by some of civic organizations in various transportation facility investment of similar departure and destination. Hereupon, this study tries to suggest a tool that can objectively evaluate interrelations of transportation network by applying multi-criteria analysis including economic feasibility regarding analysis of interconnections between and within means of transportation.

  • In general, railway system uses wheels so detecting speed by tachometer. However, LRT(Light Rail Transits) stands out recently as alternatives transportation, and besides of that Maglev trains are emerged as an alternative means of transportation. Maglev operates above certain heights caused inability of the measurement by tachometer which used to detect speed of wheels. Velocity Detection Signal Device of Train Control System applied in "Train Control System Project of Pilot Line Construction for Urban MAGLEV Train" which is prepared ahead of opening in 2013. This paper, therefore, explains the function and operation principal of Velocity Detection Signal Device, and suggests installation method of velocity detection loop installed around the track.

  • Increasing convergence among heterogeneous radio networks is expected to be a key feature of future ubiquitous services. The convergence of radio networks in combination with dynamic spectrum allocation (DSA) could be a beneficial means to solve the growing demand for radio spectrum. DSA might enhance the spectrum utilization of involved radio networks to comply with user requirements for high-quality multimedia services. This paper proposes a simple spectrum allocation algorithm and presents an analytical model of dynamic spectrum resource allocation between two networks using a 4-D Markov chain. We argue that there may exist a break-even point for choosing whether or not to adopt DSA in a system. We point out certain circumstances where DSA is not a viable alternative. We also discuss the performance of DSA against the degree of resource sharing using the proposed analytical model and simulations. The presented analytical model is not restricted to DSA, and can be applied to a general resource sharing study.

  • The purpose of this study is an overall valuation about propriety study of school facilities BTL(Build-Transfer-Lease) by means of AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process). The search point includes these questions. Is BTL of school facilities a reasonable project for school, or is the former government financial project on the position of comparative superiority? And, is a partial BTL possible as an alternative plan? The result of this study shows that preference rate about BTL is 39%, that of former government financial project is 32%, and that of partial BTL is 29%.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this research is to provide insights that can be used for deliberate decision making around challenging big data investments by measuring the economic value of such big data implementations. Research design, data, and methodology - We perform empirical research through an event study. To this end, we measure actual abnormal returns of companies that are triggered by their investment announcements in big data, or firm size information, during the three-year research period. The research period targets a timeframe after the introduction of big data at Korean firms listed on the Korea stock markets. Results - Our empirical findings discover that on the event day and the day after, the abnormal returns are significantly positive. In addition, our further examination of firm size impacts on the abnormal returns does not show any evidence of an effect. Conclusions - Our research suggests that an event study can be useful as an alternative means to measure the return on investment (ROI) for big data in order to lessen the difficulties or decision making around big data investments.

  • This study presents structural and parametric analyses on the behavior of an integrated and pile-bent abutment with mechanically stabilized earth wall (IPM) bridge. The IPM bridge is an integral abutment bridge (IAB) with partially protruded piles, which excludes earth pressure by means of a mechanically stabilized earth wall developed by the authors. The results of the analysis indicate that the IPM bridge, as any other IAB, is influenced to a large extent by temperature and time-dependent loads. When these loads are applied, the stress on a pile in the IPM bridge decreases as the displacement of the pile top increases, because the piles protrude from the ground surface and no soil reaction is generated on the protruded pile. Because the length of an IAB is restricted by the forces acting on its piles, the IPM bridge is an effective alternative to extend its length.

  • Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is becoming a popular health care means in most countries, and more than 70% of the developing world's population is depending on CAM, including traditional Chinese medicine and ayurvedic medicine. Islamic medicine, another CAM, has shown remarkable success in healing acute and chronic diseases and has been utilized by people in Mediterranean countries. This paper aims to throw light on Islamic medicine through Ibn Sina, known as Avicenna in the West; Ibn Sina was a celebrated Persian thinker, philosopher, and physician who is remembered for his masterpiece, The Canon of Medicine. The paper also discusses the relationship between Islamic medicine and Korean medicine.

  • In This Paper, alternative method fur data pattern estimation is proposed and its numerical experiment is carried out. Proposed method gives candidates cluster numbers of given data set between n-2 and 2 by means of movement of the center of gravity. To observe the performance of proposed method, Test sample data sets are offered. Finally, this method is applied to Box and Jenkins's gas furnace data to verify the performance with previous researches.

  • Shrink-proofing processing of wool fabrics is practically carried out by means of oxidation of wool with choline and/or covering of wool surface with resins. But, these are not necessarily environmentally friendly process causing a waste fluid containing organic chlorine compounds. Development of alternative method using more environmentally friendly process is desired. In this study, utilization of titanium oxide, TiO$_2$, photocatalytic reaction for the shrink-proofing of wool has been examined. It was found that the treatment of wool by TiO$_2$ photocatalytic reaction gave good shrink-proofing characteristics to wool fabrics.
