We report the salient features of the magnetic properties of amorphous TM70Cr5Si10B15(TM=Fe, Co, Ni) alloys. The temperature dependence of magnetization for amorphous ribbons were measured by a SQUID and a VSM from 5 K to 700 K under an external field of 10 kOe. Except TM70Cr5Si10B15 that shows a paramagnetic behaviour, both Fe and Co based amorphous alloys show a typical ferromagnetic thermo-magnetization curves. For these two ferromagnetic alloys, the saturation magnetization in the temperature range from 5 K to about 0.4 Tc can be descrived by the Bloch relation, Ms (T)=Ms(0) [1-BT3/2-CT5/2]. The spin wave stiffness constants and the range of exchange interaction were analyzed from the magnetization behaviour. The variation of the magnetic properties are discussed and compared with the composition of the alloys.
The purpose of this study is to examine the bulk/sheet forming characteristics of bulk amorphous alloys in the super cooled liquid state. Recently it is reported that amorphous alloys exhibit stress overshoot/undershoot and non-Newtonian behaviors even in the super cooled liquid state. The stress-strain curves with the temperature-dependences as well as strain-rate dependence of Newtonian/non-Newtonian viscosities of amorphous alloys are obtained based on the previous experimental works. Then, those curves are directly used in the thermo-mechanical finite element analyses. Upsetting and deep drawing of amorphous alloys are simulated to examine the effects of process parameters such as friction coefficient, forming speed and temperature. It could be concluded that the superior formability of an amorphous alloy can be obtained by taking the proper forming conditions.
Cu-Fe alloys (CFAs) are much anticipated for use in electrical contacts, magnetic recorders, and sensors. The low cost of Fe has inspired the investigation of these alloys as possible replacements for high-cost Cu-Nb and Cu-Ag alloys. Here, alloys of Cu and Fe having compositions of $Cu_{100-x}Fe_x$ (x = 10, 30, and 50 wt.%) are prepared by gas atomization and characterized microstructurally and structurally based on composition and powder size with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Grain sizes and Fe-rich particle sizes are measured and relationships among composition, powder size, and grain size are established. Same-sized powders of different compositions yield different microstructures, as do differently sized powders of equal composition. No atomic-level alloying is observed in the CFAs under the experimental conditions.
The plastic deformation behaviors for powder extrusion of rapidly soildified Al-Si-Fe alloys at high temperature were investigated. During extrusion of Al-Si-Fe alloys, primary Si and intermetallic compound in matrix are broken finely. Additionally, during extrusion metastable $\delta$ phase($Al_4SiFe_2$) intermetallic compound disappears and the equilibrium $\beta$ phase($Al_5FeSi_2$) is formed. In gereral, it was diffcult to establish optimum process variables for extrusion condition through experimentation, because this was costly and time-consuming. In this paper, in order to overcome these problems, we compared the experimental results to the finite element analysis for extrusion behaviors of rapidly solidified Al-Si-Fe alloys. This ingormation is expected to assist in improving rapidly solidified Al-Si alloys extrusion operations.
The mechannical properties and corrosion resistance of alloy added commercially pure titanium for dental implants have been investigated. Ti, To-65Zr, Ti-10.1Ta and Ti-17Sn alloys were melthed in arc furnace and the corrosion resistance of Ti alloys was evaluated by anodic polarization test. The microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti alloy were analysed by optical micrograph. hardness tester and instron. In isothermal test, Ti-10.1Ta and Ti-17Sn alloys exhibited the best oxidation resistance below $1100^{\circ}C$. Ti65Zr, Ti-10.1Ta and Ti-17Sn alloys showed better rockwell hardness compared with commercially pure. Ti As the result of the anodic polarization test in 5%HCl, it 5%HCl, it was known knows that Ti-65Zr, alloy showed a rapid decrease in current density at higher potenial in comparision with other Ti alloys.
Mg and Mg alloys have been used for lots of applications, including automobile industry, aerospace, mobile phone and computer parts owing to low density. However, Mg and Mg alloys have a restricted application because of poor corrosion properties. Thus, improved surface treatments are required to produce protective films that protect the substrate from corrosive environments. Environmental friendly Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) has been widely investigated on magnesium alloys. PEO process combines electrochemical oxidation with plasma treatment in the aqueous solution. In this study, AZ91 Mg alloys were treated by PEO process in controlling the current with PC condition and treated time, concentration of NaF, NaOH, and $Na_2SiO_3$. The surface morphology and phase composition were analyzed using SEM, EDS and XRD. The potentiodynamic polarization tests were carried out for the analysis of corrosion properties of specimen. Additionally, salt spray tests were carried out to examine and compare the corrosion properties of the PEO treated Mg alloys.
Large magneto crystalline anisotropy energy and demagnetization energy of rare earth-transition metal (RF-TM) alloys play roles of bottlenecks towards their commercial applications for giant magnetostrictive and blue wavelength magneto optical recording materials, respectively. To solve the above problems, boron is added into amorphous RE-TM alloys to produce its electron transferring. The boron added amorphous RE-TM alloys show novel magnetic and magneto-optical properties as follows; 1) an amorphous $(Sm_{33}Fe_{76})$97B3 alloy obtains the magnetostriction of$ -550{times}10^{-6}$ at 400 Oe compared with saturation magnetostriction of$ -60{\times}10^{-6}$ in conventional Ni based alloys, 2) an amorphous$ (Nd_{33}Fe_{67})_{95}B_5$ alloy increases effective magnetic anisotropy to$ -0.5{\times}10^{-6} ergs/cm^3 from -3.5{\times}10^6 ergs/cm^3$ without boron, which correspond to the polar Kerr rotation angles of 0.52$^{\circ}$and 0.33$^{\circ}$, respectively. These results attribute to selective 2p-3d electron orbits exchange coupling (SEC).

We model lattice-mismatched group III-V semiconductor $In_{x}Ga_{1-x}$ alloys with the three-parameter anharmonic Kirkwood-Keating potential, which includes realistic distortion effect by introducing anharmonicity. Although the potential parameters were determined based on optical properties of the binary parent alloys InAs and GaAs, simulated dielectric functions, reflectance, and Raman spectra of alloys agree excellently with experimental data for any arbitrary atomic composition. For a wide range of atomic composition, InAs- and GaAs-bond retain their respective properties of binary parent crystals despite lattice and charge mismatch. It implies that use of the anharmonic Kirkwood-Keating potential may provide an optimal model system to investigate diverse and unique optical properties of quantum dot heterostructures by circumventing potential parameter searches for particular local structures.

The present work is a study on the argon gas pressure effects of Sinter/HIP sintering on microstructure and strength of different grades of TiC-NiMo cermets. Titanium carbide in the composition of different grades of TiC-NiMo cermets was ranged from 40 to 80 wt.% and the ratio of nickel to molybdenum in the initial powder composition was 1:1, 2:1 and 4:1 respectively. On the sintered alloys, the main strength characteristic, transverse rupture strength (TRS) was measured. Furthermore, the microstructure parameters of some alloys were measured and the pressure effect on pore elimination was evaluated. All the results were compared with common, vacuum sintered alloys. The TRS values of TiC-NiMo cermets could be considerably improved by using Sinter/HIP technique, for high-carbide fraction alloys and for alloys sintered at elevated temperatures.
