  • Low work function alkali metals and alkaline earths successfully lower the electron injection barrier and increase electron injection into the organic layer in OLED displays, but their implementation is not easy. AlkaMax technology can ensure the required metal evaporation rate in a fast, homogeneous and easily controllable way.

Mono-Crown Ether와 Bis-(Crown Ether)s를 이용한 알칼리금속과 알칼리토금속 양이온들의 용매추출 (Solvent Extraction of Alkali Metal and Alkaline Earth Metal Cations Using a Mono-Crown Ether and Bis-(Crown Ether)s)

  • mono-crown ether(benzo-15-crown-5)와 benzo-15-crown-5를 포함한 bis-(crown ether)s(ethylenediamine bis(4'-formylbenzo-15-crown-5))에 의한 알칼리금속과 알칼리토금속 양이온들의 용매추출을 $25^{\circ}C$, 물-클로로포름계에서 조사하였다. mono-crown ether와 bis-(crown ether)s를 사용한 경우 알칼리금속과 알칼리토금속 양이온들에 대한 추출평형상수($K_e$)와 착물형성상수($K_c$)의 크기 순위는 각각 Ca(II)>Na(I)>Sr(II)>K(I)>Mg(II)>Rb(I)와 Sr(II)>Ca(II)>K(I)>Rb(I)>Mg(II)>Na(I) 순으로 증가하였다. 이들 크기 순위는 금속 양이온의 크기 및 전자밀도효과로서 설명할 수 있었다. 또한 mono-crown ether에 비해서 bis-(crown ether)s를 사용한 경우 금속양이온들에 대한 추출효율이 좋게 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

  • Electron injection improvement in OLED organic layers can be obtained by their doping or using alkaline-earth or alkali metals as electron injection layers (EIL). Common handling problems can be solved by an innovative metal dispensing technology to ensure controlled and reliable metal layers for OLED. Thickness and deposition rate of EIL during the process have been explored to optimize device performances.

Lead-selective PVC Membrane Electordes Based on Bis(Crown ether)s

  • Lead-selective PVC membrane electrodes based on newly synthesized bis(crown ether)s containing 18-crown-6 moiety was prepared using standard PVC membrane composition. In order to monitor lead in environmental samples by lead sensor, especially good selectivity over alkali and alkaline earth metals has to be obtained. Thus, responses of the PVC membrane prepared with new bis(crown ether)s and Fluka ionophore V (crown ether) base to various cations include lead, alkali and alkaline earth metal ions were investigated for their use as a lead sensor. The polymeric liquid membrane based on trans-1 8-crown-6 ether exhibits the best overall potentiometric performances as a lead-selective electrode in terms of a wide linear dynamic range (between 10-6 and 10-2 M, Pb2+), excellent detection limit (less than 10-6 M) and good durability within limited error. The preferences of lead over other cations, such as Ag+, Hg2+, Na+, Ca2+ and even K+ in the aforementioned electrode are much better than the Fluka ionophore V system.

  • Eight ionizable nano-baskets of cone 25,26-di(carboxymethoxy)calix[4]arene-crown-3,4,5,6 were synthesized and were verified by $^1H$ and $^{13}C$ NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The competitive solvent extractions of alkali and alkaline earth metal cations were studied using such nano-baskets. The novelty of this study is including three binding units of calixarene's bowl, crown ether's ring and electron-donor ionizable moieties in a unique scaffold to assess the binding tendency towards the cations. The objective of this work is to study the extraction efficiency, selectivity and $pH_{1/2}$ of such complexes. The result of solvent extraction experiments indicated that these compounds were effective extractants of alkali and alkaline earth metal cations. Their selectivities were greatly influenced by the acidity of solution and the conformations of the calixcrown. One conformer was selective to $Na^+$ in pH ${\geq}$ 4, while the other was highly selective to $Ba^{2+}$ in pH 6 and upper.

  • 트리아자크라운 화합물, 1,7-dioxa-4,10,13-triazacyclopentadecane trihydrobromide $salt(Na_3O_2-3HBr)$를 합성하였다. 그리고 이 화합물을 Merrifield peptide resin에 결합시켜 새로운 이온교환체를 만들었다. 이 새로운 이온교환체의 이온교환용량은 3.2 meq/g이었다. 그리고 이 이온교환체에 대한 알칼리 및 알칼리 토금속 이온들의 분포계수를, 여러 농도의 염산 용액 중에서 측정하였다. 또한 여러 염산 농도하에서의 알칼리 및 알칼리 토금속 이온들의 이온교환작용을 논의하였다.

Calix[6]arene Bearing Carboxylic Acid and Amide Groups in Polymeric CTA Membrane

  • Calix[6]arene having both carboxylic acid (1,3,5-) and carboxamide (2,4,6-) in an alternative way was synthesized. Transport rates of alkali and alkaline-earth metal ions were tested in bulk liquid membrane and polymer inclusion membrane. Ba2+ ion was found to give the highest transport rate among tested metal ions in both BLM and PIM systems. In PIM system, high durability (longer than 30 days) of the membrane was observed.
