Finite Element Analysis for Forging Processes of Rapidly Solidified Al-Si Alloys (급속응고 Al-Si계 합금의 단조공정에 대한 유한요소 해석)

  • The densification behaviors of rapidly solidified Al-Si alloys under high temperature processing were investigated. In general, it was difficult to establish optimum process variables for forging condition through experimentation, because this was costly and time consuming. In this paper, to overcome these problems, we compared the experimental result to the finite element analysis for forging processes of rapidly solidified Al-Si alloys. The results of these simulations helped understand the distribution of relative density during various forging processes. This information is expected to assist in improving rapidly solidified Al-Si alloys forging operations.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of three main chemical compositions(Mg, Zn, Si) on extrudability of 7xxx Al alloy with high tensile strength. A few Al alloys based on 7xxx alloys were metal mold cast with various weight*%) of Mg 0.3-1.2%, Zn 5.0-8.0% and Si 0.4-0.7%, to envestigate the effects of extrudability, as well as mechanical properties. To measure the extrudability of cast billets, maximum extrusion pressure and surface temperature at die exit before tearing occurs were obtained by experiment and simulation of thermo-viscoplastic F.E.M. Also the yield and tensile strength of extruded products were tested.

Effects of Mn and Si Contents on the Castabilities and Mechanical Properties of Al-5%Mg Base Alloys (Al-5%Mg 합금의 주조성과 기계적 성질에 미치는 합금원소 Mn 및 Si의 영향)

  • High ductility Al-Mg alloys often contain some Mn and Si, however the effects of these minor alloying elements on various properties of alloys have not been fully understood. In this study the castability and mechanical properties of Al-5%Mg alloy were investigated according to the addition of Mn and Si. The fluidity of the alloys was generally increased by increasing Si or Mn contents. The feedability was also increased by increasing Si content, but it was rather decreased by increasing Mn content. Both the tensile strength and the ductility appeared to be deteriorated by Si addition, while they were found to be improved by Mn addition.

  • 산업 분야에서 TiN, CrN, CrAl-N, TiAl-N과 같은 Hard 코팅들은 기계적 특성이 우수하여 절삭 공구, 기계 부품분야에서 많이 사용되고 있다. 최근 연구 동향을 살펴보면 기존에 하나 또는 두가지 합금상태의 Hard 코팅을 넘어서 제3원소, 제4원소를 첨가하여 미세 구조적 변화를 통해 기존의 우수한 특성에 고온안정성, 내식성, 내산화성 등 다양한 기능성을 부여하는 다기능성 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 본 연구에서는 마그네트론 스퍼터를 이용하여 고경도 코팅인 Ti-Al계열에 Si, Cu, Cr, B을 첨가함에 따른 내식특성을 확인해보았다. 성분이 균일한 코팅을 만들기 위해 Ti-Al, Ti-Al-Si, Ti-Al-Cu, Ti-Al-Cr, Ti-Al-B 단일합금타겟을 제조하여 실험을 진행하였다. 기본 물성을 확인하기 위해 경도 측정과 SEM XRD 등을 분석하였다. 내식성 평가는 동전위 테스트와 염수분무 테스트를 진행하였고 전해질은 염수와 동일한 5%-NaCl로 진행하였다. 그 결과 Ti-Al-Cr이 내식성에 강한 것으로 나타났고 염수분무 실험에서도 1200시간 이상 지속되는 성과를 보였다.
