유리단섬유로 보강된 분사식 섬유보강 복합재료의 인장거동에 관한 미세역학 기반 해석 (Micromechanics-based Analysis on Tensile Behavior of the Sprayed FRP Composites with Chopped Glass Fibers)

  • 본 연구에서는 유리단섬유로 보강된 분사식 섬유보강 복합재료의 인장거동 평가를 위한 실험 및 해석연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해 다양한 변형율속도(strain rate)에 따른 에폭시수지 및 분사식 섬유보강 복합재료의 인장강도 실험을 수행하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 분사식 섬유보강 복합재료는 15mm 길이로 절단된 유리단섬유가 25% 부피비율로 혼입된 보수 보강용 재료이다. 에폭시수지의 점탄성 특성을 고려하기 위해 역산모델링(inverse simulation)을 수행하여 변형율속도에 따른 점성변화를 함수식으로 제안하였다. 역산모델링을 통해 제안된 함수식을 미세역학 기반의 점탄성 손상모델(micromechanics-based viscoelastic damage model; Yang et al., 2012)에 적용하여 분사식 섬유보강 복합재료의 인장거동을 수치적으로 해석하였다. 분사식 섬유보강 복합재료의 인장거동 해석결과와 실험결과를 비교하여 미세역학 기반의 점탄성 손상모델의 정확성을 검증하였다.

  • WC-10wt%Co-Al2O3 ceramic composites, using both the SHS (Self-propagating High Temperature Synthesis) synthesized WC powder method and commercial WC powder, were prepared by varing WC-Co/Al2O3 vol% ratio and sintering temperature (1350℃∼1650℃) for 1 hr in Ar atmosphere. Mechanical characterization has been investigated by Instron meterial testing system and Vicker's hardness test. Compositional and structural chracterizations were carried out by energy-dispersive analysis of X-ray (EDAX) data and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Electrical characterization was carried out by the electrical resistivity measurement using 4-point probe method. As sintering period increased and Al2O3 contents decreased in WC-10wt%Co-Al2O3 ceramic composite, shrinkage and relative density increased, resulting in maximum values at 1600℃. Also the major matrix phase changed with increasing Al2O3 content from 0 to 100 vol%. It was also identified by SEM, EDAX, and electrical resistivity measurement. Based on the results of analysis of flexural strength, toughness and hardness, the mechanical properties of WC-10wt%Co-Al2O3 ceramic composites using the SHS synthesized WC powder were better than those WC-10wt%Co-Al2O3 ceramic composites using commercial WC powder because WC-10wt%Co-Al2O3 ceramic composites using the SHS synthesized WC powder were sintered very well due to small initial particle size. By the addition of 40 vol% Al2O3 [60(WC=10wt%Co)-40Al2O3], it was possible to obtain a proper candidate as a superalloy.

  • In this research, tile effects of reinforcements type on mechanical properties of MMCs were studied. Six kinds preform were fabricated by using Saffil short fiber, HTZ short fiber, $Al_2O_3$ particle, and SiC particle. MMCs were fabricated by using squeeze casting methods. Various tests were conducted to show the effects of reinforcements type on mechanical properties of MMCs. Tensile and compressive properties of MMCs depend on short fiber, however wear properties depend on particle reinforcement. Generally, properties of fiber/particle hybrid MMCs were excellent than those of MMCs with short fiber.

  • Die sinking electrical discharge machining(EDM) was conducted for ceramic composite of 33 weight percent TiC based on AI$_{2}$O$_{3}$ ceramic matrix according to the change of current and duty factor(DF). Material removal rate(MRR) was increased as the current and the duty factor increased, but better surface mor-pholoty was obtained in the region of lower current and duty factor. From the scanning electron microscopy(SEM) photographs and the energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX) of the EDMed surface, EDM trace formed by one discharge spark was analyzed. Although the bending strength after EDM was highly decreased, reliability obtained by weibull analysis was increased twice. The bending strength was recovered or more by barrel polishing after EDM. From the FEM analysis of temperature for one spark, the possible melting region of AI$_{2}$O$_{3}$and TiC was obtained.

  • 분말 야금법에 의해 제조된 SiC휘스커 강화 2124알루미늄 복합재료(SiCw/2124 Al)에 피로하중이 작용할 경우 복합재료의 계면에 있어서의 전위의 집적현상으로 인해 피로손상에 매우 민감하다. 그러나 이와같은 계면에 있어서의 전위의 집적현상으로 발생하는 피로미소균열의 검출 및 그 특성 평가에 대해서는 종래의 초음파 기술로서는 많은 문제점이 지적되고 있다. 본 논문은 SiC 휘스커 강화 알루미늄 복합재료에 있어서의 초기 피로손상을 평가하기 위하여 최근 새로운 비파괴 기법인 선집속 빔초음파 현미경의 적용 가능성에 대하여 연구하였다. 이를 위해 SiCw/2124 Al 복합재료 시험편에 대해 하중제어하에서 누설표면파와 누설유사표면파의 속도를 V(z)곡선으로 부터 FFT해석으로 구해 그 특성에 대하여 검토하였다. 또 주파수 5MHz에 대한 종래의 표면파 기법에 의하여 얻어진 결과와 고주파 초음파 현미경에 의하여 구해진 결과를 비교 검토 하였다.

입내 분산형 Al2O3/Ag 나노복합체의 제조와 특성 (Preparation and Properties of the Intra-type Al2O3Ag Nanocomposites)

  • Alumina/silver ($Al_2O_3/Ag$) nanocomposites with Ag content up to 9 vol% were prepared from nanopowder by soaking method using ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ of needle type and spark plasma sintering (SPS). The mechanical properties of specimens were investigated three-point flexural strength and toughness as a function of the Ag contents. The maximum flexural strength of the alumina/silver nanocomposite was 850 MPa for the 1 vol% composite, and also higher than monolith alumina as about 800 MPa at 3, 5, and 7 vol% Ag contents. Fracture toughness by single edged V-notch beam (SEVNB) was $4.05MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$ for the 3 vol% composite and maintained about $4.00MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$ at 5, and 7 vol% Ag content. Microstructure of fracture surface for each fracture specimens was observed. Due to the inhibition effect of alumina grain growth, the average grain size of nanocomposites depends on the content of Ag nano particles. The fracture morphology of nanocomposite with dislocation (sub-grain boundary) by silver nano-particles of second phases in the alumina matrix also showed transgranular fracture-mode compare with intergranular of monolith alumina. Thermal conductivity of specimens at room temperature was about 40 W/mK for the 1 vol% Ag content.

주조 및 압출가공된 SiC입자강화 알루미늄복합재의 피로거동 및 피로수명에 대한 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Cyclic Behavior and Fatigue Life of Cast and Extruded SiC -Particulate - Reinforced Al-Si Composites)

  • The low-cycle fatigue behaviors of cast AI-Si alloy and composite with reinforcement of SIC particles were compared with those of extruded unreinforced matrix alloy and composite in order to investigate the influence of cast and extrusion processes on the cyclic deformation and fatigue life. Generally, both cast and extruded composites including the unreinforced alloy exhibited cyclic hardening behaviour, with more pronounced strain-hardening for the composites with a higher volume fraction of the SiC particles. However, cast composite under a low applied cyclic strain showing no observable plastic strain exhibited cyclic softening behavior due to the cast porosities. The elastic modulus and yield strength of the cast composite were found to be quite comparable to those of the extruded composite, however, the extrusion process considerably improved the ductility and fracture strength of the composite by effectively eliminating the cast porosities. Low-cycle fatigue lives of the cast alloy and composite were shorter than those of the extruded counterparts. Large difference in life between cast and extruded composites was attributed to the higher influence of the cast porosities on the fatigue life of the composite than that of the unreinforced alloy material. A fatigue damage parameter using strain energy density effectively represented the inferior life in the low-cycle regime and superior life in the high-cycle regime for the composite, compared to the unreinforced alloy.

  • Vacuum Hot Pressing을 이용하여 제조한 TiNi형상기억섬유 강화 6061 AI기지 복합재료를 제조하고 미세조직 및 기계적 특성 등을 연구하였다. 제조된 복합재의 항복응력은 예비변형량, 섬유체적율 및 열처리에 따라 증가하였다. 복합재의 지적특성은 예비변형이 가하여진 후 재가열되었을 때 기지 내 TiNi 섬유의 형상기억효과에 의한 압축잔류응력 발생에 기인된다. 미세조직 관찰 섬유와 기지 사이에는 AI$_{3}$Ti및 AI$_{3}$Ni의 금속간화합물층이 관찰되었다. 또한 시험온도 증가와 더불어 TiNi섬유강화된 복합재의 유동강도는 높은 값을 나타내었다.

  • A16061 alloy reinforced with 10 vol% $\delta$-A1$_2$O$_3$ short fiber have been fabricated by Rheo-compocasting and squeeze casting and extruded at high temperature using conical shape die and curved shape die with various extrusion ratios.. Tensile and hardness tests were carried out to examine mechanical properties of extruded materials and SEM observation of fractured surface was capable of accounting for fracture mechanism and bonding state of fiber and matrix.

  • Microstructure and phase transformation of mechanically alloyed TiNi powders added to aluminium matrix for enhancing the damping properties were studied. Four compositions between 48.5 and 51.5 at% Ti intermetallic compounds were selected to control the fraction of martensite phase. Mechanically alloyed TiNi powders were heat-treated at vacuum of $10^{-6}$ torr for crystallization. Ball milled AI/TiNi composite powders were swaged at room temperature and rolled at 450 $^{\circ}C$. After mechanical alloying for 10 hours, Ti and Ni elements were alloyed completely and amorphous phase was formed. Amorphous phase was crystallized to martensite (Bl9') and austenite(B2) after heat treating for 1 hour at the temperature of 850 $^{\circ}C$, and TiNi$_3$, intermetallic compound was partially formed. Considerable amount of martensite phase was remained after swaging and rolling.
