  • The application of Al parts in passenger car has been increasing for the last decade, which gives many advantages such as better fuel efficiency, driving performance and safety. Control arm is one of the most preferably substituted parts from steel into Al alloys among numerous automotive parts. Currently, both wrought and cast Al alloys can find the application for control arm in passenger car. The balance between performance and cost determines a material as well as a fabrication process for a particular part model. In the present study, comparison among various processing techniques has been carried out to build up a data base for Al control arm fabrication.

  • Magnesium(Mg) alloys have been evaluated as replacements for steel or aluminum parts in the automobile industry because of the fuel economy they can provide through reducing weight. The application of Mg alloys has been limited due to its low formability at room temperature, which results from a small number of active slip systems. In the current study, an extruded TAZ711(Mg-7Sn-1Al-1Zn) alloy was warm forged into an automotive control arm to evaluate its formability at various forging temperature. Warm forging was conducted at temperatures of 200, 250, 350 and 450℃. Static strength evaluation was performed on the as-forged specimen at 250℃. The results showed good static strength.

  • Nowadays, cast ingots has been used as preforms for forging to reduce the cost and the number of processes. In this study, the forging ability of Al cast alloys was investigated by using hot compression tests. Hot compression behavior of the cast Al alloys has been studied The flow stress increased by decreasing the compression temperature and by increasing the strain rate. In case of melt treatment the flow stress decreased comparing to untreated A356.0 Al alloy. Also, We developed the various forged lower control arm using the cast preform. The optimum design of product and cast preform was investigated After Prototyping of Al forged lower arm, durability and buckling test were performed.

  • Two-arm non-inferiority trials is often applied to parametric procedure suggested by Hauschke et al. (1999). Since this design does not allow a direct comparison of a new treatment group with placebo group, parametric procedure in a three-arm non-inferiority trial with a placebo group was suggested by Pigeot et al. (2003). But, procedures in these designs are necessary for distribution assumptions. Therefore we propose, in this paper, non parametric procedures employing Wilcoxon rank sum test in a two-arm design and linear contrast test suggested by Scheirer et al. (1976) in a three-arm design. The proposed nonparametric procedures and parametric procedures are compared by Monte Carlo simulation study.

  • In this study, the casting/forging process was applied in manufacturing a low control arm, in order to prove that application of casting/forging process to Al6061 is likely to get the effect of light weight compared with existing steel products and to reduce the cost of materials. Firstly, In order to set up the optimum casting condition of the forging material, Al6061, casting experiments were carried out by controlling pouring temperature of the aluminum for casting, mold temperature, and pouring time. $700^{\circ}C$ pouring temperature, $300^{\circ}C$ mold temperature and 10-second pouring time were taken into account as the optimum casting conditions. With respect to a hot forging test, it is practiced on the basis of a temperature of materials, strain rate, and reduction rate so as to observe each microstructure and examine strain-stress curve simultaneously; examine tensile test and hardness test; eventually set up the optimum hot forging condition. A hot forging test, tensile test, hardness experiment, and microstructure observation were carried out on condition of $70\%$ reduction rate, $500^{\circ}C$ temperature of materials, and 1 strain rate. As a result of those experiments, 330MPa tensile strength, $16.4\%$ elongation, and 122.8Hv hardness were recorded. In oder to get a sound preform which has no unfitting cavity and less flash, two preforms were proposed on the basis of volume rate of the final product; the optimum volume rate of preform for the low control arm was $115\%$. In conclusion, it is confirmed that using the forging material rather than casting materials in casting/forging process is likely to get more superior mechanical properties. Compared with Al6061, performed by means of general forging, moreover, cast/forged Al6061 can not only stimulate productivity by reducing production processes, but cut down the cost of materials by reusing forging scraps.

  • There have been many approaches to solve the disturbance rejection problem in the control of LTI systems with state independent disturbances or possibly nonlinear state dependent disturbances. From the view point of each actuator, robot manipulators can be modeled as the second class of systems. With this model, M.Nakao et al. [1] introduced a decentralized control scheme based on interference estimation which is simple in its implementation and robust to the coupled dynamics and parameter variations. This paper systematically generalizes the control scheme to arbitrary finite dimensional LTI systems with disturbances. In doing so, we develop a disturbance observer theory for solving the disturbance rejection problem. We also present a discrete version of the theory with discussion of sampling and time-delay effects.

  • A356 alloy is one of the most popular casting aluminum alloys due to its good castability. It is well known that the mechanical properties of A356 alloy strongly depend on its characteristic microstructure, such as the size of eutectic Si, primary $\alpha$ dendrite and so on. These microstructural features are determined during the casting and solidification process, which implies the strong relationship with mechanical properties with solidification methods. In the present study, the mechanical characteristics of A356 alloy was investigated by using squeeze cast control arm in terms of the microstructural features, such as the size of eutectic Si, primary a dendrite. By doing so, the most favorable microstructure of A356 could be determined for Al control arm that should be one of the most reliable parts in automobile.

  • Background: This study aimed to investigate the effect of local anesthesia (LA) on postoperative pain and hemostasis after dental rehabilitation under general anesthesia (DRGA) in pediatric patients. Methods: A total of 43 patients, aged 3-7 years and rated ASA I or II, who had a definitely negative rating on Frankel's behavior rating scale, were included in this two-arm, parallel-design, single-blinded, randomized, controlled study. The patients were allocated equally into two main groups receiving both restorative treatments and tooth extractions. Two pain scales and one bleeding scale were used. In Group A, the treatment was done with LA, and in Group B, the treatment was done without LA. Results: The statistical analysis revealed no significant differences in the pain scores between the groups. It also revealed significant differences in the bleeding scores between the groups but no significant differences in the duration of bleeding. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, the use of LA in pediatric dental patients undergoing DRGA had no effects on postoperative pain reduction or bleeding duration after teeth extraction. We also observed that the use of LA had an impact on the reduction in the bleeding scores in pediatric dental patients undergoing DRGA.
