  • This article is about a new law of railroad industry has come into effect in 2004 and that left the railroad company operated under the private system. Accordingly, it has to encounter a variety of managers on the railroad safety part too. Incheon Airport Railroad that was, from Incheon International Airport to Kimpo Airport, opened to traffic on the 23th March, 2007 as the first private railroad company in Korea. This railroad company is working hard to be a safe and convenient airport railroad. There is not operated an effective emergency response that the railroad company and the emergency response personnel without standard operation procedure, recently. The original emergency manual and the emergency procedure of the synthesized railroad safety development business. I am proposing to establish the emergency response scenario according to the different situations that the train operator.

  • Airport railroad have required maximum design speed 120km/h and wind speed 50m/s condition as design item of airport railroad vehicles. To design and manufacture the vehicle satisfying these conditions, it must carry out the dynamic behaviors analysis such as hunting stability, ride comfort derailment ratio, unloading ratio and lateral force to meet the criterion described in Urban Railroad Act. Dynamic behaviors of vehicle have carried out using the multi-body dynamics simulation program(VAMPIRE). This paper presents the evaluation methods and criterion used to verify dynamic performance of airport railroad vehicle, and show the analysis results of vehicle dynamic simulation and the test results for vibration and ride comfort measured on running performance tests. As a results, each analysis results and test results meet the criterion described in Urban Railroad Act.

인천국제공항철도의 다목적 활용방안 - 연계체계 개선을 중심으로 (A study on the Multipurpose Usage of Incheon International Airport Railway - Focusing on the Improvement of Connecting Systems -)

  • The Incheon International Airport Express(I'Rex) is the railroad that connects Incheon International Airport, Gimpo Airport and Seoul Station. I'Rex is now under construction, and it will be connected to Gimpo Airport by 2007, to Seoul Station by 2010. However, there has been no discussion on how th connect different routes of railway Systems. Therefore it seems likely that rail passenger demand will be lower than that of limousine bus. Therefor, this paper proposes 4 effective connecting methods for I'Rex - (1) Shuttle transport, (2) Short-distance connecting transport (Inside I'Rex, Seoul Subway Line 9, 'Han-River line') (3) Mid-distance connecting transport (Jung-ang, Tae-baek, Young-dong line) (4) Long-distance connecting transport (Korean Train Express (Korean high speed railroad)) These methods can increase the connectivity of I'Rex with existing railroads and the competition power of I'Rex against a highway.

  • It is a plan the government increases a railroad section SOC investment, and to activate railroad construction while a railroad wins the spotlight with green transportation. But an error of the demand forecast that is a base of a railroad investment evaluation follows in occurring big, there is it with an operation with an obstacle of a railroad investment. Case of the Incheon International Airport Railroad which went into operation recently, While a present transportation demand showed about 10% than a demand forecasted in a past conference, it was magnified in a social problem. A lot of research was gone on in road project about traffic demand forecast and error, a study to find out the error cause is an insufficient situation although errors of a railroad occurs big. So, this study looked for errors and causes about trip generation model and modes sharing model of railroad demand forecast but it was defined causes so that it can occur similar problems in the future. Especially it investigated causes after comparing rate of development plan for the realization and O/D size in trip generation model and after comparing rate of modes sharing of past and current and conducting a survey for airport users. In conclusion, it suggested method to reduce errors of railroad demand forecasting in the future.

  • KORAIL airport railroad is the largest private invested project and also the first private tried rail SOC, but which was acquisited into KORAIL on 30. Nov. 2009. Presently, airport train opened on 23. MAR. 2007 as the first phase(Inchon international airport - Kimpo airport, operation distance 37.6km), the 2nd phase(Kimpo airport - Seoul station, operation distacne 20.4km) is expected at the late this year. In this study, I tried to compare domestic & foreign airport train in the perspective of transfer system and searched for the development agendas.

  • The Incheon International Amort Railroad (IIAR) is the railroad that connects Incheon International Airport, Gimpo Airport and Seoul Station. IIAR is now under construction, and it will be finished to Gimpo Amort by 2006, to Seoul Station by 2008. But IIAR is not only so late to start but also has no discussion about effective connecting methods to existing railroads and fine operation plan. Therefore, after IIAR opens, it is possible for IIAR to lose to limousine bus using highway.   • 시대적 요구에 따라 인천공항철도가 1단계(인천국제공항~김포공항, 40.3km, 07년 3월 개통)와 2단계(김포공항~서울역, 20.7km, 10년 10월 개통)가 단계별로 개통되었으나, 표정속도의 저하로 도로교통과 경쟁력을 확보하지 못하고 수송수요의 저조 등으로 이어져 민간협약에 의한 정부 재정지원은 날로 늘어나 결국 2009년11월 국가에서는 한국철도공사로 하여금 민간지분을 매입하여 정부보조금 지출 축소를 모색하였으나, 정부보조금 지출 비중만 축소되었을 뿐 공항철도를 운행함에 따른 정부보조금은 상당분 지출되고 있는 상황이다. 더우기 2004년 4월 경부고속철도 개통에 따라 고객들도 시간가치의 소중함을 인식하고 대기시간이 길어지거나 운행시간이 길어지는 경우엔 더 빠른 교통수단으로 전환하는 것을 당연시 하고 있으며, 교통정보 전달의 가속화로 출발부터 목적지 도착까지 최적의 교통수단이 무엇인지 파악 후 출발하므로서 여행에 따른 시간손실을 최소화 하려한다. 따라서 공항철도의 고속화는 이 시대의 요구사항으로 당연시 되어 있고 공항철도의 고속화야 말로 타교통수단과의 경쟁에서 우위를 차지할 수 있으며, 인천공항철도 활성화가 가능하고 소외된 경기서북부 및 인천지역의 고속철도 수혜를 확대하는 방안일 것이다. 공항철도 고속화방안은 앞선 검토 자료를 기초로 실제 적용하는데 있어 좀더 구체적이고 현실적인 방안을 모색하고자 본 고에서는 공항철도구간의 고속화 가능구간과 노반, 궤도, 시스템개량에 따른 열차속도향상 효과를 분석하고 각 차량별 즉, 기존 AREX(120km/h), KTX(230km/h), 180km/h급 고속EMU(Electric Multiple Unit) 등의 차량투입에 따른 열차운행 대안을 분석하고 가장 효율적인 열차운전시격 및 열차운행패턴 등을 제시하여 인천공항철도를 이용하는 고객들에게 좀 더 신속하고 쾌적한 운송수단이 되어 새로운 수송수요 창출은 물론이고 타교통과의 경쟁우위를 확보하여 공항철도가 활성화되기를 기대해 본다.

  • In this paper, the results of safety activities for Airport Railroad are introduced according to CENELEC standards. The procedures of safety activity were redefined as 6 phases such as Requirement Analysis phase, Design phase, Manufacture phase, Installation phase, Test & Commissioning phase and Operation phase to ensure the coincidence with 14 phases recommended in CENELEC standard. And the safety activities were implemented in the aspect of the overall E&M system level and in the aspect of each system level for 6 sub-systems consisting of that E&M system to ensure the safety for Airport Railroad using the general methodology such as FMECA.

Risk Analysis using Failure Data in Railway E&M System

  • In recent, the railway system consists of subsystems as rolling stock and infrastructures as signaling, telecommunication, power supply, overhead contact and platform screen door, etc. Furthermore, each subsystem has complicated interface so as not to understand these relationship. Consequently, to operate the railway system continuously with required safety and availability, the failure data should be corrected and analyzed systematically during operation. To achieve this object effectively, this paper presents the method which is evaluating the operational risk quantitatively using failure data, and selecting the critical equipment. Following this analysis, the improvement plan is established and applied to reduce the operational risk on system or equipment. From this study, the critical equipments of system could be determined and prioritized by risk analysis. Also, the effective maintenance to prevent critical failure could be implanted by this suggested methodology.

  • The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the relationship between the results of the analysis of the overseas railroad station buildings, which was conducted using the factors of environmental cognition for the purpose of designing an interior environment for the Incheon International Airport Railroad station that will be newly constructed, and the plan that could be applied to the design of interior environment for the airport railroad station. The station with a complex interior space layout and relatively larger space tends to be difficult to predict or forecast passenger's needs or recognition element in approaching stage of intoner environment design since the human's biological memory system is greatly affected by such factors. Cognitive approach at empirical standpoint would possibly create the design, of which elements will Implement the functions of their own as such approach enables necessary information to be structured in a systematical way and manner In implementing interior environment design for such stations to be built for the first time in Korea, behavioral approach based on systematic theory proved to be very crucial. Under such a background, the study was aimed at extracting the assessment elements for interior environment design, then setting the frame of cognitive approach to eventually propose the guideline in approaching to interior environment design.
