The study focuses on identifying the purposes of airline deregulation and analyzing its benefits and consequences. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - This is a case study, a comparative method, which analyzes and measures the benefits and disadvantages of airline deregulation in both the United States and South Korea. Results - Airline deregulation removed unnecessary and ineffective government controls, resulting in more efficient airline industries in both countries. However, the negative consequences are much greater than the benefits of airline deregulation. Conclusion - The purpose of airline deregulation was to foster an efficient and effective environment in airline industry, and clear evidence of the positive intended effects of airline deregulation e.g., increasing domestic competition, decreasing airfare, increasing productivity, and removing unnecessary government regulations in the beginning of airline deregulation. However, the current state of airline industry in both countries depicts only the consequences of airline deregulation.

Frequent flyer program is suggested most important by most of the customers being followed by flight schedule. Flight schedule, in-flight food and air fare of 'K' airline are differently evaluated according to level of royalty to the airline. However there appears no difference in the evaluation of seat and entertainment between two groups, customers with high loyalty and customers without loyalty.

  • Airline schedule is the most basic data for flight operations and has significant importance to an airline's management. It is crucial to know the airline's current schedule status in order to effectively manage the company and to be prepared for abnormal situations. In this study, machine learning techniques were applied to actual schedule data to examine the possibility of whether the airline's fleet state could be artificially learned without prior information. Given that the schedule is in categorical form, One Hot Encoding was applied and t-SNE was used to reduce the dimension of the data and visualize them to gain insights into the airline's overall fleet status. Interesting results were discovered from the experiments where the initial findings are expected to contribute to the fields of airline schedule health monitoring, anomaly detection, and disruption management.

  • This paper investigates how airline service quality determines airline image and passengers' future behavioural intentions. To investigate the effect of airline service quality, Structural Equation Modeling using a maximum likelihood estimator, was applied to data collected from Korean international air passengers who have used Korean Airlines, Asiana Airlines, and other foreign airline. It was found that there were significant relationships between the variables. The dimension of in-flight service and the dimension of customer and flight related service were each found to have a positive effect on airline image. In addition, airline image had a significant positive influence on Korean international air passengers' future behavioural intentions.

Airline staff's perception on aviation safety is different from that on aviation security due to organizational difference in an airline. Through an empirical analysis, it was analyzed the effect of such perceptional difference on airline's organizational effectiveness. According to the analysis, it was found the perception of aviation safety has a significant positive effect on organizational effectiveness. Airline staff believed the safety is a core value of an airline and emphasizing the safety never impeded the airline's operation including service quality. Secondly, it was proven the perception on abiding by aviation security rules had a significant negative effect on organizational effectiveness. However, emphasizing aviation security had a very significant positive contribution on airline's philosophy of aviation safety. Following the research results, it was suggested an airline look for improving the process and regulations to deal with aviation security in the organization.

The importance of colors shown by the airline crew, an important human resource for airlines as contact workers, was investigated. We wanted to present suggestions by investigating and comparing the difference in customer attitude regarding the color of uniforms of the airline crew. Research design, data, and methodology - A survey was conducted to examine differences in perception of airline uniform color, with the research that suggests that the customer's attitude to uniform color will vary. The difference in the perception of passengers according to the colors of the airline uniforms was determined by conducting an empirical analysis. Results - Customers have a different attitude about the color of the uniform of airline's flight attendants' uniform. Full service airlines (FSC) generally have a bright, calm, neat, and heavy-handed feeling, while low-cost carriers (LCC) have a distinctive, dynamic, energetic, and cheerful feeling. Conclusions - An empirical analysis of the study found that customers' attitudes vary by uniform color for each airline. It has also been revealed that Airline's uniform color can communicate the company's goals it wants to convey.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to prove that the effect of waiting environment on perceived waiting time and service satisfaction of airline service and airport service procedure. Methods: Survey was conducted by questionnaires that were distributed to international airlines passengers. Survey data were collected 276 copies from 300 copies then analyzed using factor analysis and multi-regression analysis. The measurements of airline service procedure were divided by airlines service and airport service. Airline service segregated as before boarding and after boarding then airport service can be separated before boarding and after deplane by service procedure. Results: According to result, hypotheses were partially accepted. Human environment and Physical environment of airport service before boarding and after deplane were accepted. However perceived waiting time had effect on service satisfaction both airline and airport services. Thus some of variables are correlated among waiting environment. Acceptability as moderating variable has differences on high acceptable group and low acceptable group. Though waiting and delay were caused by controllable or uncontrollable reasons, there are certain negative feeling on waiting and delay on physical environment of airline service. Especially controllable delay and waiting are more negative than uncontrollable reasons. Conclusion: Some suggestions that given from researcher should be implemented to the airline industry to reduce perceived waiting time specially airport service procedure academically and practically.
