The development of infrared thermometry has led many researchers to use plant temperatures, and specifically the temperature of the crop canopy in the field, for estimating the water stress of a crop. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of leaf temperature in irrigation scheduling. An experiment was carried out in a greenhouse with chinese cabbage. Leaf temperature was measured with infrared thermometry and evapotranspiration of the crop was measured by lysimeters. Influence of the difference between leaf temperature and air temperature on crop evapotranspiration was evaluated under varying water stress condition. A further objective was to evaluate the effect of other climatic variables on the relationship between evapotranspiration and temperature difference between leaf and air. A statistical model for estimating evapotranspiration using the temperature difference, relative humidity. and radiation was developed and tested. Crop water stress index was calculated using vapour pressure deficit and the temperature difference. Relations between the crop water stress index and crop evapotranspiration was tested. The index was closely related with evapotranspiration.
This paper shows how the environmental parameters(temperature, humidity) in the greenhouse are influenced by air movement produced by air circulation fans. When the fans were used, they could make indoor temperature and humidity homogenious, but there was no significant difference in the location and number of fans. When the fans were not used during the night time, there was no significant difference in the temperature and humidity, but the standard deviation was reduced by using the fans.
We analyzed diurnal variations in the surface air temperature using the high density urban climate observation network of Daegu in summer, 2013. We compared the time elements, which are characterized by the diurnal variation of surface air temperature. The warming and cooling rates in rural areas are faster than in urban areas. It is mainly due to the difference of surface heat capacity. In addition, local wind circulation also affects the discrepancy of thermal spatiotemporal distribution in Daegu. Namely, the valley and mountain breezes affect diurnal variation of horizontal distribution of air temperature. During daytimes, the air(valley breeze) flows up from urban located at lowlands to higher altitudes of rural areas. The temperature of valley breeze rises gradually as it flows from lowland to upland. Hence the difference of air temperature decreases between urban and rural areas. At nighttime, the mountains cool more rapidly than do low-lying areas, so the air(mountain breeze) becomes denser and sinks toward the valleys(lowlands). As the result, the air temperature becomes lower in rural areas than in urban areas.
This paper performed to predict vertical temperature distribution and air flow near cold heat source in the mass merchandising store. At the height of 150 cm, the vertical air temperature difference between the results of CFD and of measurement field showed $10\%$ near the refrigeration zone and $8.8\%$ near the freezing zone. Therefore, it regarded as appropriate for the using CFD to investigate airflow near the heat sources. The 3 kinds of CFD model were divided by the disposition of diffuser/exhaust and diffuser air temperature. At the refrigeration and freezing zone in the Model 2 and 3, the temperature difference between the front and the back of human model were showed $6.8^{\circ}C\;and\;3.9^{\circ}C$ with diffuser air temperature $17^{\circ}C$ and were showed $6.8^{\circ}C$ and $4^{\circ}C$ with diffuser air temperature $19^{\circ}C$.

In developing algorithms to retrieve the sea surface temperature (SST) and sea surface wind speed from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR) aboard the AQUA and the Advanced Earth Observation Satellite-II (ADEOS-II), data from the SeaWinds aboard ADEOS-II were helpful. Since features of the ocean microwave emission (Tb) related with ocean wind are not well understood, in case of using only AMSR data, combination of AMSR and SeaWinds revealed pronounced features about the ocean Tb. Two results from combinations of the two sensors were shown in this paper. One result was obtained at wind speeds over about 6m/s, in which the ocean Tb varies with the air-sea temperature difference, even though the SeaWinds wind speed is fixed at the same values. The ocean Tb increases as the air-sea temperature difference becomes negative, i.e., the boundary condition becomes unstable. This result indicates that the air temperature should be included in AMSR SST algorithm. The second result was obtained from comparison of two wind speeds between AMSR and SeaWinds. There is a small difference of two wind speeds, which might be related with several mechanisms, such as evaporation and plankton.
The research analyzed the distribution of the indoor temperatures of a radiant floor cooling system through mock-up experiments. It investigated the temperature difference of feed water, the vertical temperature difference of indoor air, the temperature difference of floor surface, and so on. The following is the results of the research. First, the research shows that the difference between indoor temperature and outside temperature was the smallest when the temperature of feed water was set at 16$^{\circ}C$. In addition, the temperature changes according to indoor positions (wall, room, floor, and ceiling) were the most uniform. Thus, the research found that the cold water temperature of 16$^{\circ}C$ is the most proper. In addition, it confirmed that the feed water temperature of 18$^{\circ}C$ is effective because the temperature can lower the temperature of a room to 13.55$^{\circ}C$, which is lower than the temperature of a non-cooling mode. Second, an investigation on the temperature distribution of vertical air in indoor space shows that the temperature distribution had a difference of 0.2 to 1.9$^{\circ}C$ on the average, which satisfies the range of 3.0$^{\circ}C$ in the standard of ISO.
In this study, the control strategies of indoor air temperature in floor radiant heating system were researched by computer simulation. The temperature difference based time control method using the difference of indoor set temperature and indoor temperature is compared with the existing On-Off control one for heating control performances. As a result, the temperature difference based time control method shows better thermal environmental characteristics in case of selected operational conditions in comparison with existing control one.
Long-term observations were conducted between 1997 and 2002 to examine the variability of the vertical temperature structure in the Youngsan Estuary, southwest Korea, in summer. The observed hydrographic data revealed that the temperature minimum layer in the middle depth persisted through the entire summer of 2000 but was rarely observed in other years. The variability in the vertical structure might be affected by the air temperature during the previous winter and the density difference between the open sea and the estuary. In 2000, the air temperature in the previous winter was lowest and the horizontal density difference during summer was largest. The large horizontal density difference probably produced more active driving of warm water along the bottom, which would have intruded into the Youngsan Estuary. Furthermore, the cold previous winter would have provided a better condition for maintaining cold temperatures in the middle water layer for a longer period.
Thermal comfort plays an important role in modern office buildings. Four major factors affecting thermal comfort are air temperature, velocity, humidity and radiation temperature. Distribution of these thermal factors in indoor space depends largely on the air flow which is related to the method of supplying and extracting air. In this study, an experimental analysis on indoor thermal comfort is conducted to study the difference between a ceiling supply cooling system and a floor supply one. The two cooling systems are applied to an office space during summer season and the distributions of temperature, velocity, radiation temperature and PMV are measured. Results show that the floor supply cooling system is superior in terms of thermal comfort and energy saving. Studies need to be done, however, to reduce the vertical temperature difference of a floor supply air conditioning system.
The experimental of temperature, humidity and velocity was taken from the underground pit which utilized the system of ground heat source quite similar to the cool-pit system. Also, through CFD analysis, one could review the effectiveness of analysis of future alternatives. Furthermore, the temperature range of mock up cool-pit system was analyzed by inputting the weather data of annual average soil temperature provided by KMA(Korea Meteorological Administration) into the fluid simulation of anticipated heat distribution. Firstly, the difference between the temperature of air exhaust of the pit or the temperature of air supply of the compressor room and the experimental data for the month of May from the CFD analysis came out to be $0.6^{\circ}C$ and $0.9^{\circ}C$ respectively with tolerance of 3.1% and 4.7%. Secondly, the difference between the temperature of air exhaust of the Pit or the temperature of air supply of the compressor room and the experimental data for the month of July from the CFD analysis came out to be $0.8^{\circ}C$ and $1.1^{\circ}C$ respectively with tolerance of 3.3% and 4.5%. Thirdly, for the month of May, the difference between the experimental data taken for the air exhaust of the Pit or the air supply of the compressor room and soil temperature provided by KMA for monthly and yearly average temperature of Jeonju region came out be $1.9^{\circ}C$ and $1.8^{\circ}C$ respectively with tolerance of 10.7% and 9.8%. Fourthly, for the month of July, the difference between the experimental data taken for the air exhaust of the Pit or the air supply of the compressor room and soil temperature provided by KMA for monthly and yearly average temperature of Jeonju region came out be $1.1^{\circ}C$ and $1.4^{\circ}C$ respectively with tolerance of 4.5% and 5.8%. The result of above experiments allowed us to establish CFD model set up as a verification tool that is based on experimental data collected within the Pit area. Also, one could confirm the possibility to apply weather data of soil temperature provided by KMA in order to anticipate proper value for CFD analysis.
