남극은 인위적인 오염원에서 멀리 떨어져 있고 가장 깨끗한 환경을 유지하고 있기 때문에 배경환경으로써 평가되어져 왔다. 따라서 ice core 안에서, 시간에 따른 용해성 이온종들의 조성 변화는 지구 대기조성 변화를 나타내는 것으로 알려져있다. 특히 ice cores나 눈 속에 존재하는 황산염과 MSA(Methan Sulfonic Acid)는 해양생물의 활동도 변화론 연구하는데 있어 유용한 도구를 제공해주며, 그것은 과거 기상적 변화와 관련이 있다.(중략)

We propose and analyze a novel high-birefringence fiber incorporating an elliptical air hole in the core. Compared to solid elliptical core fibers, several times higher birefringence is achieved with a sub-wavelength-sized hole.

Corals are the remains of animals that grow on warm beaches. They have been used as decorative jewels because of their variety of colors, and as medicinal materials for treating cancers, AIDS, and other therapeutic uses because of their chemical elements. Corals are mainly composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) and have many air pores, tens to hundreds of micrometers in size. The refractive indices and absorption coefficients of dried sliced staghorn corals are investigated using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. The measured values are similar to those for CaCO₃, as expected. It is observed that a sample with a microstructure formed by air pores can guide terahertz waves. The dispersion, effective index, and loss of the guiding modes of coral core surrounded by five triangular air pores are numerically calculated. The simulated spatial distribution of the electric field of the guide mode at 1.25 THz shows the mode to be tightly confined to the core.

액체로켓엔진에서 발생하는 고주파 연소불안정을제어하기 위하여 인젝터의 길이 변화를 줄 수 있는 다중 스월 인젝터의 감쇠효과를 분석하였다. 음향흡수자로서 인젝터의 효과를 분석하기 위하여 인젝터는 1/4 파장 공명기로 해석하였고, 상온에서 감쇠 효과의 적합성을 검증하였다. 인젝터 내부에 형성되는 air core의 부피가 감쇠 효과에 직접적인 영향을 주므로 이를 모사한 다수의 튜브로 실험을 하였다. 실험을 통해 각 모드의 배(anti-node point)에 장착된 인젝터의 수의 증가로 감쇠 효과가 커지는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 1L, 1T, 1L1T 모드에 동조된 인젝터들을 동시에 각 모드의 배에 장착했을 경우, 각 모드에서 단일 모드에 튜닝된 인젝터들을 장착하였을 경우와 거의 같은 감쇠 효과를 얻을 수 있었다.

Air core based transformers have been designed, simulated and fabricated by using micromachining process for the application of wireless power transmission with the range of frequency from 1 GHz to 20 GHz. Fabricated transformers are the types of solenoid transformers with primary and secondary coils. the size of fabricated transformer is $1.1{\times}1.5{\sim}2.15\;mm$ including ground shield. Transformers have been measured by dividing two groups based on the turns ratio between primary coil and secondary coil which are 1:1 transformers(the number of turns of primary coil and secondary coil: 3/3, 5/5, 7/7) and l:n transformers(the number of turns of primary coil and secondary coil: 3/3, 3/6, 3/9). As a result of the measurement, the lowest insertion loss of transformers ranged from 2 dB to 2.8 dB according to the number of turns between primary coil and secondary coil. And the lowest insertion loss from the transformers was measured at the frequency from 7 GHz to 11 GHz according to the number of turns between primary coil and secondary coil. Based on the measurement data from the microfabricated transformers, the transformer with the 3/3 turns in the primary coil and secondary coil showed best performance compared to others in terms of lowest insertion loss, lowest insertion loss frequency and bandwidth.

물이 채워진 원통 용기를 회전시킨 후 배수하면 일정시간이 지난 후 공기기둥이 발생한다. 용기의 크기, 초기 회전 속도나 교반 속도, 배수구 모양 등의 배수조건에 따라 공기기둥의 발생 여부나 발생시간이 달라진다. 본 연구에서는 2 단으로 구성된 계단형 배수구를 가진 원통 용기에서 물이 배수되는 과정을 수치해석적으로 연구하였다. 하부에 위치한 배수구 1 단은 길이와 반경이 고정되어 있고, 상부에 위치한 2 단은 길이와 반경을 변화시켰다. 2 차원 격자계에 축대칭 조건을 적용하여 원통 용기 내부의 배수유동을 해석하였다. 물과 공기의 자유표면 모양을 추적하여 수위 변화를 관찰하였으며, 배수구 2단의 형상이 공기기둥 발생시간과 내부 유동구조 변화에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다.
