Ecological Grinding Technology Using Compressed Cold Air and Oil Mist (압축냉각공기와 오일미스트를 이용한 환경친화 연삭가공기술)

  • The environmental problems by using coolant demanded the new cooling methods. As one of them, the studies on the finding with compressed cold air and oil mist have been done. The cooling method using compressed cold air was effective through going down the temperature of compressed air supplied below $-25^{\circ}$ and increasing the amount of compressed cold air, but had not enough cooling effect due to the low performance of lubrication. Therefore, the cooling methods using oil mist newly were suggested. This method can satisfy both cooling effect and lubrication with only small amount of coolant, also have the benefit in the point of decreasing the environmental pollution. This paper focused on analyzing the grinding characteristics of the cooling method using oil mist. The grinding test according to compressed cold air, oil mist spray pressure and oil mist supply direction were done.

  • As the large Coolant amount used of a machine holds mass serious trouble recently, an environment pollution is increased, and a machine is conquering large specific gravity in an empty cost plane. It is the stage that must reexamine the parts washing that processing is later with this current way or a problem of a liquid waste treatment back.   • A high speed spindle system for machine tools can be used to reduce the machining time, to improve the machining accuracy, to perform the machining of light metals and hard materials, and to unite the cutting and grinding processes. In this study, a high speed spindle system is developed by applying the oil-air lubrication method, angular contact ball bearings, injection nozzles with dual orifices, cooling jacket and so on. And an air cooling experiment for evaluating the performance of the spindle system is carried out. Especially, in ofder to establish the air cooling conditions related to the development of a high speed spindle system, the effects of cooling air pressure, oil supply rate, air supply rate and rotational spindle speed are studied and discussed on the bearing temperature rise and frictional torque. Also the effects of cooling air pressure, rotational spindle speed and spindle system structure is investigated on the bearing temperature distribution. The experiment on the test model reveals the usefulness of the air cooling method.

  • Recently, there are an increasing needs for high speed rotating spindle which is an important mechanical ele- ment for a high efficiency machine tool in order to shorten machining time and cut production costs. The heat gen- eration is the most important problem in the motor integrated spindle. In this study, the effects of temperature distribution and thermal behavior according to the oil-air lubrication and cooling conditions are investigate theo- retically and experimentally on the motor-integrated spindle under unloading condition. The experimental spin- dle system is composed with the angular contact steel ball bearings, oil-air lubrication, air or oil jacket cooling system. To analyze the thermal behavior and cooling characteristics for the motor integrated spindle, the analysis using the finite element method is carried out. The analytical results are compared with the experimental results.

  • The heat generation is the most important problem in the motor integrated spindle. Double cooling jacket in necessary to reduce the thermal displacement and to get the stable temperature disribution for the housing. In this study, the effects of temperature distribution and thermal displacement for the spindle system according to the variation of cooling oil flow rate are investigated experimentally on the motor-integrated spindle with double cooling jacket system. The experimental spindel system is composed with the angular contact steel ball bearings, oil-air lubrication, air or oil jacket cooling system.

  • Vapor oil fer radiator fm press in heat exchangers of air conditioners is carefully considered as the cooling performance can be affected by the residual vapor oil on the surface of radiator fin after fin press working. In this work, vapor oil for radiator fin press was developed in consideration of several properties such as physical characteristics, the rate of volatility, hazardous properties and material compatibility. In addition, it was confirmed that radiator fin press workability adopting the vapor oil and the cooling performance of air conditioner using the radiator fin were good.

  • In order to improve the efficiency of a main transformer in a train, the optimal operation of a cooling system is necessary. For the development of optimal control algorithms of a cooling system, mathematical models of a main transformer cooling system were developed. These include static and dynamic models of a main transformer, an oil pump, an oil cooler, and a blower. Static models were used to find optimal oil temperatures of the inlet and the outlet of a transformer. Dynamic models were used to predict transient performances of control algorithms of a blower and an oil pump. Simulation results showed good predictions of the static and the dynamic behavior of a main transformer cooling system. Therefore, mathematical models developed in this study may be effectively used for the development of control algorithms of a main transformer cooling system.

  • Generally, A motor integrated spindle is selected to perform the high speed machining, to improve the machining flexibility, and to simplify the structure of machine tools. The thermal deformation caused by heat generation of the integrated motor is, however, serious problem in motor integrated spindle system. In this study, cooling characteristics for the several kinds of cooling systems(such as, oil-jacket cooling, air cooling) are investigated and more efficient cooling method is presented. The results show that the shaft cooling by the air cooling system is effective to improve the thermal characteristic of motor integrated spindle.

Optimal Oil Temperature at the Main Transformer Cooling System (주변압기 냉각시스템의 최적오일온도)

  • In order to improve the efficiency of the main transformer in a tilting train, the optimal operation of a cooling system is necessary. Mathematical models of a main transformer cooling system were developed. These include models for the main transformer, the oil pump, the oil cooler, and the blower. The optimal oil temperature algorithm was also developed. This consists of the optimal setpoint algorithm and the control algorithm. A simulation program was developed by using mathematical models and the optimal oil temperature algorithm. Simulation results showed that the dynamic behavior of a main transformer cooling system was predicted well by mathematical models and a main transformer cooling system was controlled effectively by the optimal oil temperature algorithm.

  • Recently, motor integrated spindle is often used in a high speed spindle system of machine tools in order to increase machining speed. The important problem in high speed motor integrated spindle is to reduce thermal effect occured by motor and ball bearings. In this study, the effect of heat transfer from motor is investigated. The experimental equipment is composed with oil-air lubrication method, air cooling system and angular contact ball bearings. The results show that the thermal effect in motor is larger than in ball bearing until DmN 8000,000 with air cooling.
