  • The Displacement current measurement system used in this experiment because detecting the dynamic behavior of monolayers at the air-water interface is possible. It basically consists of a film balance, a pair of electrodes connected to each other through a sensitive ammeter. Here, one electrode is suspended in air and the other electrode is placed in the water. PBLG phase transformation measured by Maxwell-displacement-current-measurement method in surface of the water. Measured (surface pressure, displacement current and dipole moment) of monolayers of PBLG on the water surface. We measured displacement current that occur when changed temperature. Could know that displacement current is proportional in increase of temperature and great as experiment result.

  • The displacement current measuring system used for detecting the dynamic behavior of monolayers at the air-water interface is described. It basically consists of a film balance, a pair of electrodes connected to each other through a sensitive ammeter. Here, one electrode is suspended in air and the other electrode is placed in the water. With Maxwell-displacement-current-measuring method, the phase transitons of Poly-$\gamma$-benzyl p-glutamate (PBDG) on a water surface were detected. Measured surface pressure, displacement current and dipole moment of monolayers of PBDG on the water surface. Also, we measured that compression velocity(30, 40, 50[mm/min]) when the sample spread volume was about 400[ul]. From the result, it is known that current is generated in the range of high surface pressures as compression velocity become faster.

  • In general, corona discharges in air are accompanied with electromagnetic wave which has wide frequency range up to UHF and can be detected by rod or loop antennas. But the existence of background noises such as TV, radio or electronic disturbances makes it difficult to separate corona discharge signals from them in the outside fields. The results of experiment using wideband antenna (30kHz - 2GHz) show that corona discharges have dependences on electrode types and independences on background noises.

As results, the displacement pick was generated when the area per molecule was about 15 $\AA$$^{2}$ in low pressure, and tit was generarted when the area per molecule about 27$\AA$$^{2}$ in high pressure.

  • The electrical characteristics and particle collection efficiency of a wide-plate spacing electrostatic precipitator are numerically investigated, and the results are compared with those obtained experimentally. The electric potential and field strength near the collection plate increase with increasing the plate spacing. The electric field strength of a discharge electrode of a twisted pin type is larger than that of a rectangular type. As the roughness factor of the discharge electrode wire becomes small, or the plate spacing becomes narrow, the corona current of the precipitator increases. The numerical results agree well with those obtained from experimental method.

  • A constant volume combustion chamber is employed to investigate the initial flame kernel development and flame propagation of gasoline-air mixtures with various ignition systems, ignition energy and spark plug electrodes. To do this research, four ignition systems are designed and manufactured, and the ignition energy is controlled by varying the dwell time. Several kinds of spark plugs are also made to analyze the effects of electrodes on flame kernel development. The velocity of flame propagation is measured by the laser deflection method. The output laser beam from He-Ne laser is divided into three parallel beams by a beam splitter. The splitted beams pass through the combustion chamber. They are deflected when contacted with flame front, and the voltage signals from photodiodes change due to deflection. The results show that higher ignition energy raises the flame propagation speed especially under the fuel lean operation. The wider electrode gap, smaller electrode diameter and sharper electrode tip make the speed of the initial flame propagation faster. The speed of the initial flame propagation is affected by electrode material as well. Electrode material with lower melting temperature help the initial flame propagation.

  • Electrostatic capacitance measurement method in a fine hose was proposed, in which two ring-type electrodes were disposed on the hose in the direction of fluid flow instead of the conventional face-to-face electrodes. With the proposed electrode structure, we realized a Ringer's solution exhaustion detector for an IV(invasive vein) injection set. On a 4 mm-diameter hose of IV set, we disposed two ring-type electrodes of 10 mm width at a distance of 5 mm each other and obtained 0.72 pF and 2.51 pF for air and 10 % dextrose Ringer's solution in the hose, respectively. The capacitance between the two electrodes varied with the hose-wraparound coverage of electrode as well as the width of electrode and the distance between the electrodes. For hose-wraparound electrode coverage of 75 %, the capacitance varied from 0.62 pF to 1.98 pF with the Ringer's solution level between the two electrodes. A charge amplifier converted the capacitance. variation into electric signal and a comparator was used to detect whether Ringer's solution was exhausted or not. The result was delivered to a host using a RF transmitter with 320 MHz carrier frequency.

전기-펜톤 반응을 이용한 해수 중의 염료 분해 (Dye Decomposition in Seawater using Electro-Fenton Reaction)

  • To increase electrolysis performance, the applicability of seawater to the iron-fed electro-Fenton process was considered. Three kinds of graphite electrodes (activated carbon fiber-ACF, carbon felt, graphite) and dimensionally stable anode (DSA) electrode were used to select a cathode having excellent hydrogen peroxide generation and organic decomposition ability. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide produced by ACF was 11.2 mg/L and those of DSA, graphite, and carbon felt cathodes were 12.9 ~ 13.9 mg/L. In consideration of durability, the DSA electrode was selected as the cathode. The optimum current density was found to be 0.11 A/㎠, the optimal Fe2+ dose was 10 mg/L, and the optimal ratio of Fe2+ dose and hydrogen peroxide was determined to be 1:1. The optimum air supply for hydrogen peroxide production and Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation was determined to be 1 L/min. The electro-Fenton process of adding iron salt to the electrolysis reaction may be shown to be more advantageous for RhB degradation than when using iron electrode to produce hydrogen peroxide and iron ion, or electro-Fenton reaction with DSA electrode after generating iron ions using an iron electrode.
