The soil-to-air fluxes of three PAHs(Phenanthrene, Pyrene, Benzo(a)pyrene) from a laboratory contaminated forest soil were investigated in experimental microcosms. The effects of soil temperature(45$^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$, 5$^{\circ}C$) and relative humidity(0%, 100%) were investigated according to existence of the humic layer(O layer) over the mineral layer(A layer). Volatilization flux experiments were carried out for a period of 96 hrs. The resulting PAHs volatilization fluxes from the different conditions were quantified and compared. In the mineral layer, highest volatilization flux among the individual PAHs was Phenanthrene >Pyrene> Benzo(a)pyrene on the conditions of 45 $^{\circ}C$, RH=100%. In the humic layer over the mineral layer, maximum volatilization flux was Phenanthrene on the condition of 45$^{\circ}C$, RH=0%. Results from flux experiments showed that volatilization fluxes of PAHs were dependent on soil temperature. Existance of humic layer over the mineral layer delayed transportation to the air of especially heaveir molecular PAHs. But, if humic layer is contained water sufficiently, it is possible that volatilization fluxes are enhanced by water convective flux according to variation of soil temperature and air relative humidity.

This study was conducted to determine which greenhouse provided good environmental conditions for strawberry production, and performed better at conserving energy. Temperature, RH, VPD, $CO_2$, solar radiation, yield, and fuel consumption were the parameters analyzed. The temperatures of both greenhouses were well controlled in order to provide optimal day and night temperatures for strawberry production. The air inflated double layer greenhouse had higher RH values (more than 90% at night), which led to higher disease occurrence, in comparison to the conventional double layer greenhouse. Furthermore, the air inflated double layer greenhouse had lower VPD values than the conventional double layer greenhouse. Therefore, better RH and VPD were observed in the conventional double layer greenhouse. Higher $CO_2$ concentration was observed in the air inflated double layer greenhouse while the conventional double layer greenhouse ventilated better than the air inflated greenhouse, because of its side ventilators. Moreover, higher solar radiation in the conventional double layer greenhouse resulted in higher yield, in comparison to the air inflated double layer greenhouse. Thus, we can conclude that the conventional double layer greenhouse provided a better environment for crop growth, in comparison to the air inflated double layer greenhouse. Regarding fuel consumption, the air inflated double layer greenhouse had lower fuel consumption than the conventional double layer greenhouse. Therefore, from an energy consumption point of view, we can conclude that the air inflated double layer greenhouse performed better than the conventional double layer greenhouse.

This paper derives the insertion loss for the bubble layer of an air bubble curtain and an air masker which are used to reduce ocean anthropogenic noise such as the piling noise and the ship noise. The air bubble curtain is considered as a 'fluid-air bubble layer-fluid' model and the environment for the air masker is simplified as an 'vacuum-thin plate-fluid-air bubble layer-fluid' model. The air bubble layer in each model is assumed as the effective medium which has the complex wavenumber and the complex impedance corresponding to the bubble population distribution. The numerical simulations are performed to examine the insertion loss depending on the bubble population, the void fraction, and the thickness of the layer.

This paper describes the measurement of thickness of still air layer above fabrics and its relationship to structural properties of fabrics. Rayon fabrics - of both filament and spun - and wool nylon blended fabrics varied in terms of surface hairiness were used. Temperature and relative humidity above fabrics were measured at the various distances from the fabric surface. Increase in the thickness of fabric, fabric weight, yarn count, and crimp resulted increase in thickness of still air layer above fabric. Surface hairiness of fabrics as well as the structural properties were found to be related with the thickness of still air layer above fabrics.
In this study, thickness, density and effective thermal conductivity of frost forming on the horizontal cylinder were measured with various air temperature and humidity. Reynolds number and temperature of cooling surface are controlled 17300 and $-l5^{\circ}C$ respectively. In each case of air temperature $5^{\circ}C,\;10^{\circ}C,\;15^{\circ}C,$ varying absolute humidity, experiments were executed. In measuring frost surface temperature and thickness of frost layer, infrared thermocouples and CCD camera were used. Frost was gathered from cylinder to measure mass of frost layer. Experimental data showed that the thickness and effective thermal conductivity of the frost layer increase with respect to time. Thickness of frost layer increase with humidity increasing, and density of frost layer increase with air temperature rising. Frost growth with air temperature and density of frost layer with humidity are affected by whether dew point is below or above freezing point.
This study was conducted to evaluate the efficiency of various fabrics in protecting from solar radiation and ultraviolet radiation(UV). Six kinds of fabrics were selected and examined in singles or doubles. It was studied how the materials and the thickness of air layer between the fabric and the floor affected the protection efficiency of fabrics from sunlight. The results were as followes; 1) Protection from solar radiation: In the case of over 2 cm air layer, doubled fabric composed of aluminum coating-nylon and white or black polyester/cotton(T/C) was the most protective(p<0.001). In the case of 0 cm air layer, the case without fabric and white T/C were more effective(p<0.001). And the thicker the air layer the more effective the protection. 2) Protection from UV : Doubled fabric composed of aluminum coating-nylon and black T/C was the most protective(p<0.001) and the thinner the air layer the more effective the protection(p<0.001).

Back-end-of-line using ultra low-k (ULK; k < 2.5) has been required to reduce resistive capacitance beyond 45 nmtechnologies, because micro-processing units need higher speed and density. There are two strategies to manufacture ULK inter-layer dielectric (ILD) materials using an air-gap (k = 1). The former ULK and calcinations of ILD degrade the mechanical strength and induce a high cost due to the complication of following process, such as chemical mechanical polishing and deposition of the barrier metal. In contrast, the air-gap based low-k ILD with a relatively higher density has been researched on the trench-type with activity, but it has limited application to high density devices due to its high air-gap into the next metal layer. The height of air-gap into the next metal layer was reduced by changing to the via-typed air-gap, up to about 50% compared to that of the trench-typed air-gap. The controllable ULK was easily fabricated using the via-typed air-gap. It is thought that the via-type air-gap made the better design margin like via-patterning in the area with the dense and narrow lines.

In this study, negative air ions, which can increase comfort and positively influence human health, was set as an evaluative factor for school forests. The characteristics, location and microclimate of school forests were examined to determine an effective school forest model for maximum negative air ion generation. It also aimed to provide basic data for the development of urban green fields. The negative air ion concentrations were different according to the green types. The order from the highest to the lowest was: single-layer structure($934ea/cm^3$) > multi-layer structure($794ea/cm^3$) > grass($553ea/cm^3$) > bare ground($529ea/cm^3$). As for the correlation with microclimate, negative air ion concentration was negatively correlated with temperature. The negative air ion concentration was significantly different according to planting type. The negative air ion concentration was higher at single-layer structure sites than at multi-layer structure sites, which appears to indicate that the temperature is higher when the vegetation structure was single-layer compared to multi-layer. Wind speed was higher at the single-layer planted site than at the multi-layer planted site. The vegetation wind shielding effect was lower at single-layer planted sites than at multi-layer planted sites. The single-layer planted site provided more favorable conditions for the generation and dispersion of negative air ions.

In this paper, numerical investigations for tank sloshing, based on commercial CFD package FLUENT, are performed to study effects of boundary layer grid, liquid viscosity and compressible air on sloshing pressure, wave height and rising time of impact pressure. Also, sloshing experiments for liquids of different viscosity are carried out to validate the numerical results. Through comparison of numerical and experimental results, a computational model including boundary layer grid can predict the sloshing pressure more accurately. Energy dissipation due to viscous friction leads to reduction of sloshing pressure and wave elevation. Sloshing pressure is also reduced because of cushion effect of compressible air. Due to high viscosity damping effect and compressible air effect, the rising time of impact pressure becomes longer. It is also found that liquid viscosity and compressible air influence distribution of dynamic pressure along the vertical tank wall.

The integral boundary layer equation for the air side and the diffusion equation for the frost layer are numerically analyzed in order to predict the behavior of frost layer growth. The thickness and density of the frost layer obtained from the present study agree well with those of previous numerical results and experimental data with a maximum error of 13%. The characteristics of heat and mass transfer within the frost layer and the frost layer growth along the flow direction are investigated by performing numerical analysis. The effects of operating conditions on the frost layer growth are also examined.
