Effects of Condensation Heat Transfer Model in Calculation for KNGR Containment Pressure and Temperature Response

  • Under severe accidents, the pressure and temperature response has an important role for the integrity of a nuclear power plant containment. The history of the pressure and temperature is characterized by the amount and state of steam/air mixture in a containment. Recently, the heat transfer rate to the structure surface is supposed to be increased by the wavy interface formed on condensate film. However, in the calculation by using CONTAIN code, the condensation heat transfer on a containment wall is calculated by assuming the smooth interface and has a tendency to be underestimated for safety. In order to obtain the best- estimate heat transfer calculation, we investigated the condensation heat transfer model in CONTAIN 1.2 code and adopted the new forced convection correlation which is considering wavy interface. By using the film tracking model in CONTAIN 1.2 code, the condensate film is treated to consider the effect of wavy interface. And also, it was carried out to investigate the effect of the different cell modelings - 5-cell and 10-cell modeling - for KNGR(Korean Next Generation Reactor) containment phenomena during a severe accident. The effect of wavy interface on condensate film appears to cause the decrease of peak temperature and pressure response . In order to obtain more adequate results, the proper cell modeling was required to consider the proper flow of steam/air mixture.

  • The air logistics process is complex and need many informations because various agencies participate in the logistics service and there are many stakeholders in air logistics. But it is hard to improve the infra of facilities because of an enormous expense, so it needs to simplify air logistics process for growing air freight. When documents are sent, it needs to change the form of documents in spite of same document due to different form by agencies. Also documents are changed even though different documents have same informations. Consequently, errors are increased because the names of the same data are different from each other and stakeholders reproduce the documents. In order to mitigate these problems, we selected documents and analyzed data of documents for the interface optimization in general air logistics process. Next, we unified the names of data and defined contents of data. Also we set the type of the defined data on DB type, and gave the code to the defined data. It made easy to exchange informations among the stakeholders to match documents corresponding with the defined data.

  • The solidification rate is of special importance in determining the casting structures and properties. The heat transfer characteristics at the interface between the mold and the casting is one of the major factors that control the solidification rate. The thermal resistance exists due to the air-gap formation at the mold/casting interface during the freezing process. In this study two-dimensional Stefan problem with air-gap resistance in the rectangular mold is considered and the heat transfer characteristics is numerically examined by using the enthalpy method. The effects of the major parameters, such as mold geometry, thermal conductivity, heat transfer coefficient, and initial temperature of casting, on the thermal characteristics are investigated.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation for Monolayers of Alkyl Thiol Molecules at Air-Solid Interfaces

  • We present the results of molecular dynamics simulations of monolayers of long-chain alkyl thiol [S(CH2)15CH3] molecules on an air-solid interface using the extended collapsed atom model for the chain-molecule and a gold surface for the solid surface. Several molecular dynamics simulations have been performed on monolayers with areas per molecule ranging from 18.30 to 32.10 Å2/molecule. It is found that there exist three possible transitions: a continuous transition characterized by a change in molecular configuration without change in lattice structure, a sudden transition characterized by the distinct lattice defects and perfect islands, and a third transition characterized by the appearance of a random, liquid-like state. The analysis of probability distributions of the segments shows that the structure of the chain-molecules at the air-solid interface is completely different from that at the air-water interface in the view of the degree of overlap of the probability distributions of the neighbor segments. The calculated diffusion coefficients of the chain-molecules on the monolayers seem to be not directly related to any one of the three transitions. However, the large diffusion of the molecules enhanced by the increment of the area per molecule may induce the second transition.

  • Traditional descriptions of water movement in soils and of calculations of infiltration rates neglect the air movement and its compressibility. The movement of two fluids in the bounded layered porous medium is treated analytically and computer simulations are conducted for given boundary conditions and initial saturation profiles. The movement of a given saturation across the interface between the different soil layers is theoretically developed by considering the conservation of mass. It is shown that the existence of the interface affects the infiltration rate when the average total velocity is greater than zero. The transition from one layer to another layer cause a change in the capillary drive and consequently influences the infiltration rate.

  • We fabricated IMI-O polymer containing imidazole group that can be form a complex structure between the monolayer and the metal ions at the air-water interface. Also, the monolayer behavior at the air-water interface and Langmuir-Blodget films by complexes formation have been investigated by $\pi$-A isotherms, Brewster Angle Microscopy and the scanning Maxwell-stress microscopy.

  • We studied on the ultra thin L- $\alpha$ -DLPC by LB method. The $\pi$ -A isotherm of the L- e -DLPC was measured at the air-water interface varying with the compressing speed and amounts of solutions for spreading. The molecular arrangement of deposited films were evaluated by measuring the absorption with the UV spectrometer. And we made structures of metal(Au)/L- $\alpha$ -DLPC/Metal(Au) and examined electron through L- $\alpha$ -DLPC LB films by means of current-voltage(I- V) measurement

  • 최근 UHF 대역에서 동작하는 RFID 시스템이 활발히 연구되고 있으며, 유통물류 분야를 시작으로 다양한 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 특히, 국내에서는 휴대폰과 RFID를 결합한 모바일 RFID 시스템을 도입하고 있으므로 가까운 미래에 RFID의 도입이 크게 확대될 것으로 기대되고 있다. 하지만 UHF RFID 시스템의 경우 Link Unbalance특성에 의해 주파수 간섭 등의 문제가 대두되어 전세계적으로 Dense 모드의 도입 및 기술기준 개정 움직임이 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 고에서는 UHF RFID 시스템에서 발생하는 주파수 간섭에 대해 알아보고, 국내외 UHF RFID Air Interface 기술의 최신 동향을 살펴보고자 한다.
