  • This paper described to experiment and analyze for the characteristic of underwater airbubble curtain which was generated by the air - bubble curtain generating unit consisted with air compressor (290l/min x 1.5Kw) and air tank(10kgf/$cm^2$) in order to provide foundation source for guiding fish schools. To layout the air - bubble curtain was made vinyl hoses( $cm^2$ emitting air - pressure, the wider hole interval of hose drilled the higher air - bubble curtain could be formed, and then the horizontal length of air - bubble curtain could be prolonged 45% according to be inclined vertical angle of air - bubble generating hose.

  • The air-bubble sheet has been widely used to wrap fragile products for long-distance transportation. The further usage of the air-bubble sheet as a thermal-insulation material for the reduction of the thermal conductivities of window systems has occurred because of its low price, in addition to its thermal-conductivity properties. In this study, the thermal performances of a variety of commercial air-bubble sheets according to various applications were evaluated. The experiments were performed with single-glazed and double-glazed windows and three types of air-bubble sheets of different air volumes. U-values are used and were calculated for the determination of the thermal performances that are based on the KS F 2278. The maximum decrease of the U-value was measured as 1.092 when a sheet was attached onto the frame of single-glazed window. The square-like air-bubble sheet that contains the largest air volume shows the highest thermal-resistance value. Double layers of the air-bubble sheets show better performances than those of the single layers on both sides of the windows.

  • Bubble jet loop heat pipe is a newly devised variation of heat pipe in which heat is effectively transported by the latent heat of evaporation and condensation as well as the heat capacity of circulating working fluid. The circulatory and oscillating motion of the working fluid becomes possible by the motion of bubble jet which is generated at a narrow circular gap. These bubbles are condensed at the condensing section. Bubble jet loop heat pipe makes it possible to carry heat long distances upward and horizontal directions. Because Its structure is a very simple and a low cost, it is available for the floor heating, vinyl house heating, the defrosting of heat pump system and home refrigerator.

  • Bubble boom may be a good alternative for the prevention of oil spill pollution due to its easy deployment and clean post-process tasks. The present work is focused on the experimental investigation of air bubble movement for the bubble boom by visualization and quantitative PIV measurements. Bubble plume was generated by adjusting the pressure of pressure vessel ranging 6.7 kpa to 14.7 kpa. The results showed at lower inlet velocity and higher supply air flow rate that bubble boom maintained its containing capability reasonably well up to the maximum containing limit.

  • In this paper, the air bubble formation mechanism in the rectangular and triangular line-and-space pattern during dispensing UV Nanoimprint Lithography (UV-NIL) at an atmospheric condition is studied. To investigate the air bubble formation, an analytic model based on geometric approach and a numerical model based on CFD(computational fluid dynamics) were used in the analysis. It was found in the numerical analysis that every time the flow front passed through a corner of the pattern, it proceeded with a newly formed shape, occurring due to interface reconfiguration, since the flow fronts were formed such that they minimized the surface energy. Moreover, the conditions for the air bubble formation were investigated by applying the analytic analysis based on geometric approach and the numerical analysis. Good overall agreement was found between the analytic and numerical analysis.

  • With the developments in knitting, manufacturing, and polymers, coated gloves have been evolved in a way to maximize occupational safety and functionality. In this paper, we have considered the PU-coating process for the glove knitted by Dyneema to reduce the occurrence of the defects due to air bubble. This paper classifies the types of defect due to air bubble and traces their forming mechanisms. The air between coating layer of glove and mold's surface forms the defects if it is not evacuated fully in the process of submerging into water. The defects can be suppressed or avoided by forming air-evacuating path on the surface of the molds.

  • In the present paper, the behavior of bubbles in a fluidized bed has been investigated experimentally. The bubble size, distribution of bubble, bubble rising velocity and pressure fluctuation in the fluidized bed are obtained at different air velocity. The results are discussed and compared study the effect of air velocity on the behavior of a bubbles in fluidized bed.

  • In this paper, an empirical model of air bubble size to be applied to an air masker for reduction of underwater radiation noise is presented. The proposed model improves the divergence problem under the low-speed flow condition of the existing model derived using Rayleigh's jet instability model and simple continuity condition by introducing a jet flow velocity of air. The jet flow velocity of air is estimated using the bubble size where the liquid is quiescent. In a medium without flow, the size of the bubble is estimated by an empirical method where bubble formation regime is divided into a laminar-flow range, a transition range, and a turbulent-flow range based on the Reynolds number of the injected air. The proposed bubble size model is confirmed to be in good agreement with the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis result and the experimental results of the existing literature. Using the acoustic inversion method, the air bubble population is estimated from the insertion loss measured during the air injection experiment of the air- masker model in a large cavitation tunnel. The results of the experiments and the bubble size model are compared in the paper.

  • The saturator and injection nozzle are important facilities on the dissolved air flotation process. To increase the formation of micro bubble, it is required to improve the air dissolving performance in the saturator and keep the pressure uniform from the saturator to the nozzle. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of the saturator and the hydraulic effect of the nozzle and the pipe structure. The air volume concentration, bubble size and bubble residual time were measured in the test. The saturator, which had mounted with the spray nozzle, showed a good performance for bubble formation. Also, the characteristics of micro bubble formation were influenced by pressure uniformity and flow velocity through the orifice in the nozzle.
