A Study on the Evaluation of Noise Characteristics for Multi-purpose Dive Support Vessel (다목적 잠수 지원선의 소음해석 및 소음특성 검토)

  • The noise characteristics of multi-purpose dive support vessel show the different patterns such as types of noise sources, accommodation arrangement and etc due to its operation. Especially, the tunnel and retractable thruster for the dynamic positioning should be considered at the noise analysis. The floating floor is selected as the main measure of noise reduction and is constructed at the deck near the noise sources. In this paper, the noise analysis of dive support vessel is based on the estimation of noise sources and floating floor and SEA (Statistical Energy Analysis) is used for analysis of the air-born noise and structure-borne noise. The noise analysis of air conditioning system is also carried out and the noise results of cabin room are reviewed.

Classification of Noise Insulation Performance in Apartment Buildings through Noise survey and Auditory Experiment (설문조사와 청감실험을 통한 공동주택 차음성능의 평가등급 설정)

  • Social noise survey and auditory experiment on residential noises such as floor impact, air-borne, bathroom, drainage and traffic noises were conducted to classily a noise insulation Performance in apartment building. The survey results showed that annoyance among subjective responses to residential noises was most greatly affecting to satisfaction with noises. In the survey, boundary limit between satisfaction and dissatisfaction was also determined. Auditory experiments was also undertaken to determine noise insulation performance according to the percent of satisfaction for individual noise source. Result of auditory experiment showed that the noise insulation performance for floor impact, airborne, drainage and traffic noise corresponding to 40 % satisfaction is 49 dB (L$_{i,Fmax,AW}$), 48 dB (R'w), N-41, and N-40, respectively. Finally, classes of noise insulation performance in apartment building were proposed according to satisfaction with noises

  • The absorbing material is mostly used to changing the acoustic energy to the heat energy in the passive control, and that consists of the porous media. That controls an air borne noise while the stiffened plates, damping material and additional mass control a structure borne noise. The additional mass can decrease the sound by mass effect and shift of natural frequency, and damping material can decrease the sound by damping effect. The passive acoustic control using these kinds of control materials has an advantage that is possible to control the acoustic in the wide frequency band and the whole space at a price as compared with the active control using the various electronic circuit and actuator. But the space efficiency decreased and the control ability isn't up to the active control. So it is necessary to maximize the control ability in the specific frequency to raise the capacity of passive control minimizing the diminution of space efficiency such an active control. Therefore, the characteristics of control materials and the optimum layout of control materials that attached to the boundary of structure-acoustic coupled cavity were studied using sequential optimization on this study.

  • Recently, the various performances of vehicle are rapidly improved. Therefore tire noise is recognized as important noise source because vehicle noise is considerably reduced. This study is performed for the control of the cavity resonance noise that is structure-borne noise, due to fluid(air)-structure interaction. For this investigation, FRF analysis has been carried out using FEM and we found an important factor affecting cavity resonance. The effect of this factor is confirmed by objective noise test. We confirmed that the result of FRF analysis and objective noise test is that the structure control of tire sidewall can reduce cavity resonance noise due to fluid-structure interaction

  • The noise emitted during train operation is generated with various reasons. It is known that the major noise generation is classified according to the ranges of train speed; that is, engine noise at lower speed range, rolling noise at medium speed range, and air-borne noise at higher speed range. These noises are transmitted in combined form with the noises generated from track components and under-carriage, etc. The rolling noise as a major noise at medium speed range is caused by the vibration occurred at wheel/rail interface. The vibration occurred at wheel/rail interface is transmitted to wheel and rail, and this vibration is emitted from wheel and rail as a noise. In this paper, a soundproof box which can simply measure the noise emitted from rail and analyze the characteristics of the measured noise is studied.

  • As the silence of vehicle is more important, noise reduction of tire is more required. Noise of tire is divided into structure home noise and air borne noise. Tire tread has the property such as Hardness. Pattern Noise is caused by changing of tread hardness. This property has influence on the mechanisms which are Block Impact & Stick-slip sound. In the study, we found that the effect of Hardness is related to more Stick-Slip than Impact.

  • Caliper intergrated Electric Parking Brake (EPB) is an automatic parking brake system, attached to rear caliper. Because EPB uses luxury vehicles recently, the drivers of vehicles are sensitive to the EPB noise. EPB is operated by the motor and gear, so noise is generated by motor and gear. In order to reduce noise, One of EPB manufacturers uses helical gear and changes the shape of EPB housing. But these methods are not optimized for reduction of interior noise. There are many noise transfer paths into vehicle interior and it is difficult to identify the noise sources. Therefore, in this study, we performed contribution analysis and modal testing in the vehicle system. It is possible to distinguish between air-borne noise and structure-borne noise in the vehicle interior noise by comparing interior noise peak with resonance mode map.

  • High level of tractor noise may reduce operator's work performance and cause a hearing problem. This study was carried out to investigate the cab noise of a selected agricultural tractor. The noise was measured and analyzed in terms of sound and sound intensity levels. Form the results it was known that a structure-born noise was induced from the feet-rest and rear floor panel of the cab. The air-borne noise caused mainly by the engine was transmitted into the operator's position through the small openings of cab structures in the operator's lower front area.

Interior Noise Characteristics of the Electric Trains in Gyeongchun Line (경춘선 전동열차의 실내 소음 특성)

  • Since the opening of the double-track railway for the Gyeongchun local electric train and the semi-high speed train ITX, floating population between Seoul and Chuncheon has rapidly increased. This is attributable to the competitiveness of the railway service in terms of punctuality and safety of operation, mass transportation and low fare. However, many passengers have expressed strong dissatisfaction and displeasure towards the interior noise and its high rate of increase, particularly in tunnel sections. In this study, the interior noise characteristics of Gyeongchun local electric train and ITX were analyzed and compared. Noise levels, frequency spectrum and sound quality indices were compared for the open land, tunnel and bridge. Finally, from the noise levels depending on the location in the vehicle compartment, the noise transmission path was determined and a basic strategy for reducing the interior noise was developed.
