Influence of various levels of milk by-products in weaner diets on growth performance, blood urea nitrogen, diarrhea incidence, and pork quality of weaning to finishing pigs

  • Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate various levels of milk by-product in weaning pig diet on growth performance, blood profiles, carcass characteristics and economic performance for weaning to finishing pigs. Methods: A total of 160 weaning pigs ([Yorkshire${\times}$Landrace]${\times}$Duroc), average $7.01{\pm}1.32kg$ body weight (BW), were allotted to four treatments by BW and sex in 10 replications with 4 pigs per pen in a randomized complete block design. Pigs were fed each treatment diet with various levels of milk by-product (Phase 1: 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%, Phase 2: 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%, respectively). During weaning period (0 to 5 week), weaning pigs were fed experimental diets and all pigs were fed the same commercial feed during growing-finishing period (6 to 14 week). Results: In the growth trial, BW, average daily gain (ADG), and average daily feed intake (ADFI) in the nursery period (5 weeks) increased as the milk by-product level in the diet increased (linear, p<0.05). Linear increases of pig BW with increasing the milk product levels were observed until late growing period (linear, p = 0.01). However, there were no significant differences in BW at the finishing periods, ADG, ADFI, and gain:feed ratio during the entire growing-finishing periods. The blood urea nitrogen concentration had no significant difference among dietary treatments. High inclusion level of milk by-product in weaner diet decreased crude protein (quadratic, p = 0.05) and crude ash (Linear, p = 0.05) of Longissimus muscle. In addition, cooking loss and water holding capacity increased with increasing milk product levels in the weaner diets (linear, p<0.01; p = 0.05). High milk by-product treatment had higher feed cost per weight gain compared to non-milk by-products treatment (linear, p = 0.01). Conclusion: Supplementation of 10% to 5% milk by-products in weaning pig diet had results equivalent to the 30% to 15% milk treatment and 0% milk by-product supplementation in the diet had no negative influence on growth performance of finishing pigs.

소매업체와 농산물 도매시장의 연계성 강화 방안 - 청과물을 중심으로 - (Strategies to Enhance the Linkage between Retailers and Agricultural Product Wholesale Markets)

  • 이 논문은 소매업체의 청과물 구입실태와 농산물 도매시장 구매의 문제점을 조사 분석하여 소매업체와 도매시장간 연계성 강화 방안을 모색하고 있다. 대형유통업체는 구매채널이 비교적 골고루 분산되어 효율적인 구매방식을 모색하고 있으나 중소 유통업체는 산지직거래 능력이 미약하여 주로 중도매인(방문구매)에 의존하고 있다. 업태별로 향후 도매시장 구입 의향을 보면, 대형유통업체와 외식/급식업체의 경우 도매시장 구입을 유지 내지 감축하려는 비율이 높고, 중소유통업체는 도매시장 구입을 확대 내지 유지하려는 경향을 보였다. 소매업체가 도매시장 구입 시 느끼는 문제점으로는 상품의 균질성 미흡과 속박이, 저온저장고 부족, 장소협소로 물류미비, 유통비용과다, 가격안정성 미흡 등이 있다. 농산물 도매시장이 시급히 개선해야 할 사항으로는 시장면적 확대로 물류효율화, 저온저장고 확충 등 시설 개선, 품질관리시스템 확립, 소분 포장 등 가공시설 확충 등인 것으로 조사되었다. 소매업체와 농산물 도매시장간 연계를 강화시키기 위해서는 도매시장 공간 확보를 통한 물류 원활화, 도매시장내 국가 검품제도 도입, 경락가격 안정화 방안 모색, 하역비 절감 방안, 소매업태별 차별화 마케팅 추진, 중도매인의 규모화 등이 필요하다. 거래제도 측면에서는 단기적으로 선취매매, 정가수의매매 등을 활성화시키고 중장기적으로는 도매상제도의 확대가 필요하다.

품질인증 친환경농산물의 소비자가치 추정 및 유통정책 방향에 관한 연구 - 천안지역의 쌀, 상추, 두부를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Development Strategies and Measuring Consumer′s Willingness to Pay for the Quality-Certificated Environmental-Friend Products - Focused on Rice, Lettuce, and Bean Curd at Cheonan-city)

  • The study must have standpoints for the stable market construction of the Environmental-Friendly agricultural products of the quality-certificated which has rapidly grown due to a discussion of the environment and agriculture, income increase and the interests on foods stability. The survey was conducted through face-to-face interview of 200 adults who are in their twenties or more in Cheonan-city. In this research, the Environmental-Friendly agriculture was a clean agriculture not using a fertilizer or chemicals and the agriculture which protects the environment by preventing the environmental pollution. In the analyses of the consumer's willingness to pay, the rice showed 69,851 won, and a lettuce and bean-curd showed 947 won and 1.412 won respectively. In terms of current issues of the policy, to establish the stable circulation structure and consumption strategy, there must be a clearness raise of the Quality Authentication (QA) Mark. To raise the trust through quality authentication, there must be transparency raise of information by distribution stages and the thorough post management of the official institutes. Also, to persue the competitive product differentiation, there must be the settlement of the product brand on the market, development of the new production technology and a classification of consumers by incomes. Finally to construct stable distribution and price system, there must be active participation of the local agricultural cooperatives in the distribution of the Environmental-Friendly agricultural products of the quality-certificated and the understanding of the proper price of the consumer market and flexible strategy of the price change.

  • Sample preparation including dehydration and drying of samples is the most intricate part of scanning electron microscopy. Most current sample preparation protocols use critical-point drying with liquid carbon dioxide. Very few studies have reported samples that were dried using chemical reagents. In this study, we used hexamethyldisilazane, a chemical drying reagent, to prepare plant samples. As glandular trichomes are among the most fragile and sensitive surface structures found on plants, we used Millingtonia hortensis leaf samples as our study materials because they contain abundant glandular trichomes. The results obtained using this new method are identical to those produced via critical-point drying.

농산물 온라인 쇼핑몰에서의 고객의 구매의도에 관한 포괄적 모형 (A Comprehensive Model of Purchasing Intention of Customers in Agricultural Products Online Shopping Malls)

  • 본 연구에서는 농산물 온라인 쇼핑몰에서의 고객들의 구매의도에 관한 포괄적 모형을 제시하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 문헌연구와 논리적 추론과정을 통하여 비즈니스 관점, 정보시스템 관점 그리고 농산물 특성 관점으로 구매의도 요인들로 분류 선정하고, 이들 요인들이 신뢰와 지각된 유용성을 매개로 하여 고객의 구매의도에 영향을 미친다는 통합적인 연구모형을 설정하였다. 소규모 농수산물 온라인 쇼핑몰의 회원들을 대상으로 총 329부의 유효한 설문자료를 수집하였고, 이를 구조방정식모델링을 이용한 확인적 요인분석과 경로분석을 실시하여 본 연구모형을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 연구분석 결과 비즈니스 관점의 요인들인 제품품질과 서비스 질은 신뢰에 유의한 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났으나, 가격의 적정성과 오락성은 각각 신뢰와 지각된 유용성에 영향이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 광고노출은 신뢰에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았으나 구매의도에는 직접적인 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 정보시스템 관점의 요인들인 정보의 질과 사용용이성은 신뢰와 지각된 유용성에 유의한 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 농산물 특성 관점의 요인인 제철상품은 지각된 유용성에 유의한 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났으나 지역브랜드는 신뢰에 유의한 영향이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 성공적인 농산물 온라인 쇼핑몰 구축 운영을 위한 전략적 시사점을 제공하고 있다.

  • 지리적 표시제란 농산물 등 상품 및 그 가공품의 명성 품질 기타 특징이 본질적으로 특정 지역의 지리적 특성에 기인하는 경우 당해 상품 및 그 가공품이 그 특정지역에서 생산된 특산물임을 표시하는 제도를 의미한다. 우리나라에서는 1999년에 제정된 농산물품질관리법을 통해 지리적 표시제가 본격적으로 시행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 우리나라에서 지리적 표시제가 공식적으로 도입된 이후 최초로 인증을 얻은 보성녹차의 사례를 중심으로 지리적 표시제가 지역 문화산업 진흥에 미치는 영향 및 시사점을 분석한다. 연구결과 지리적 표시제 도입 이후 지리적 표시품인 보성녹차의 제품이미지 상승과 품질향상이 이루어짐으로써 지역 특산품인 보성녹차의 재배와 생산이 증가하였을 뿐만 아니라 녹차연계 관광산업의 개발 등을 통해 지리적 표시제가 지역 문화산업의 진흥에 전반적으로 긍정적인 기여를 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 지리적 표시제의 도입이 지역 특산의 국산 명품 브랜드를 육성함으로써 향후 수입자유화에 대비한 우리니라 통상정책 측면에서 유효한 대응책이 될 수 있음을 시사한다. 또한, 지리적 표시제가 지역문화 정체성 제고와 장소마케팅을 위한 효과적인 수단을 제공할 수 있음을 시사한다.

  • Due to the increase of the number of farmers who have entrepreneurial intentions and the expansion of governmental support to invigorate the regional economy, the interest in manufacture of high-quality agricultural processed food is increasing, and the study of the method to realize it efficiently is continuing. Especially, the method to visualize a manufacturing process by simulation and analyze it to extract an improved scheme has advantages of saving time and cost in comparison with trial and error method. In this study, the current manufacturing environment was analyzed by applying simulation on Korean traditional sweets, which is typical agricultural processed food. By extending this kind of method into small businesses processing other agricultural products, as well as Korean traditional sweets, it can draw strengthening of comparativeness through the improvement of productivity and product quality.

지역단위 미이용 바이오매스 발생량 추정 (Estimation of Community-Based Unused Biomass Generation)

  • This study was carried out to evaluation of biomass generation mechanisms and to propose the estimation method of biomass generation. Agricultural by-product biomass is generated during crops cultivation and after harvest. However these are not uniformly generated yearly and these depending on the seasons. For planning of biomass utilization, accurate information of the biomass resources is needed, especially characteristic and productivity of biomass are necessary. Agricultural by-product biomass are generated in a wide area being scattered and it is one of the major reason why agricultural biomass utilization is not activated compared with other waste biomass. In this study, estimation and evaluation biomass generation is achieved in specific spatial and temporal boundary, A-city in Gyeongi-do and september to November respectively. Quantity and quality of by-product biomass show big difference depending on the crop species and cultivation periods and these difference bring up that accurate biomass estimation should be considered during planning of biomass utilization and technology selecting for biomass converting to energy and other forms.

Quality Attributes of Fat-free Sausage Made of Chicken Breast and Liquid Egg White

  • We developed a type of sausage made of chicken breast and liquid egg whites for consumers interested in weight management. To determine the quality of the product, its chemical characteristics, fatty acid composition, free amino acid contents, and nucleotides contents were evaluated during 4 weeks of storage. Sensory evaluation was conducted by both general consumers and body-builders. The sausage was proposed as a fat-free product as fat content was 0.12% based on the Korean Indication Standard of Animal Origin Food. Protein content was 13.42% and calorie value was 61.50 kcal/100 g of the sausage. In sensory evaluation, the mixture of chicken breast and egg whites stuffed into the same casing had an adverse effect on taste, color, texture and overall acceptance while the product that contained egg white stuffed separately into the outer casing enclosing the chicken breast (double layer) improved these attributes. The developed double-layer sausage can last for at least 4 weeks of storage without quality deterioration of flavor-related compounds, such as fatty acids and nucleotides.

  • Membrane technology has revolutionized the dairy sector. Different types of membranes are used in the industry for various purposes like extending the shelf life of milk without exposure to heat treatment, standardization of the major components of milk for tailoring new products as well increasing yield and quality of the dairy products, and concentrating, fractionation and purification of milk components especially valuable milk proteins in their natural state. In the cheese industry, membranes increase the yield and quality of cheese and control the whey volume, by concentrating the cheese milk. With the advancement of newer technology in membrane processes, it is possible to recover growth factor from whey. With the introduction of superior quality membranes as well as newer technology, the major limitation of membranes, fouling or blockage has been overcome to a greater extent.
