There are two major factors of degrading the performance in the forward link of DS/CDMA systems. One is the multiple access interference (MAI) caused by using the same frequency bands simultaneously and the other is the multipath lading due to multipath propagation. PN codes which have minimum cross correlation properties among spread spectrum codes are necessary to reduce the MAI. In the conventional IS-95A system, the PN sequence has the period of $2^{15}$ and is of the length of 64 chips for spreading each data. In this case, since the length of PN code per bit is very short compared to the period of the PN code, the performance of the conventional system is not satisfied in view of suppressing the multipath interference. However, the correlation property of the PN codes at the demodulation can be improved by increasing the interval of Integration at the demodulation. This paper proposes a demodulation method to reduce the cross correlation among PN codes. The performance of the proposed demodulation method is investigated through computer simulations. We used multipath Ray lading channel and AWGN channel in the simulation. Our simulation results show the improved performance of $0.25{\sim}0.5dB$ SNR in a given BER compared to the conventional demodulation scheme.

Induction motors play a vital role in aeronautical and automotive industries so that many researchers have studied on developing a fault detection and classification system of an induction motor to minimize economical damage caused by its fault. With this reason, this paper extracts robust feature vectors from the normal/abnormal vibration signals of the induction motor in noise circumstance: partial autocorrelation (PARCOR) coefficient, log spectrum powers (LSP), cepstrum coefficients mean (CCM), and mel-frequency cepstrum coefficient (MFCC). Then, we classified different types of faults of the induction motor by using the extracted feature vectors as inputs of a neural network. To find optimal feature vectors, this paper evaluated classification performance with 2 to 20 different feature vectors. Experimental results showed that five to six features were good enough to give almost 100% classification accuracy except features by CCM. Furthermore, we considered that vibration signals could include noise components caused by surroundings. Thus, we added white Gaussian noise to original vibration signals, and then evaluated classification performance. The evaluation results yielded that LSP was the most robust in noise circumstance, then PARCOR and MFCC followed by LSP, respectively.

The purpose of this research was to analyze technological trends of 「Military Small Giant Venture Tech-Fi Net」 from Defense Technology Information Service via social network analysis. 「Military Small Giant Venture Tech-Fi Net」, which was constituted for their fine technology for application to the military field, registered 847 technologies of 388 companies. In this research, we analyzed 847 technologies for the relations between "Military System" and "Military Technology Category" via centrality measurement, one of the social network analysis methods. The results indicate that the major technologies of domestic military small giant venture companies were "Sensor" and "ICT" for "C4I System" and "Surveillance and Reconnaissance System" and "Platform/Structure" for "Land System", "Aeronautical System" and "Naval Sea System". In contrast, we recognized inadequate technologies, such as "Propellant" and "Material" for "Missile and Ammunition system" and "Sensor" and "ICT" for "Defense System", We hope that our results and method will be conducive to the technological development of Small Giant Venture companies.

Pilots of large airplanes have to land their airplanes with insufficient visual information because of high approach speed, high vertical velocity and high location or altitude of the cockpits from the runway intending to touch down. This study verifies that, due to the insufficient information, large airplane pilots can't exactly perceive height of their airplanes during the flare. Study 1 explored whether it's possible for the pilots to accurately perceive height with the static visual cues only. We showed them pictures of the runway taken from the pilot's pionts of view and asked them to assess the height of the airplanes. They determined exact height of the airplanes at the height of 85 feet, but they could not, at lower than 55 feet which is the flare preparation altitude. Study 2 explored whether it's possible for the pilots to accurately perceive height when dynamic cues were added to the static visual cues. We showed them videos of the runway taken from the pilot's pionts of view. With more cues they determined exact height of the airplanes at the height of 50 feet, but they could not, at the altitude of lower than 30 feet which is the flare altitude. As experience is believed to be a major factor which affects interpretation of the visual cues, we compared the accuracy of the assessment of the experienced captions and that of the in-experienced first officers. We found there was no significant difference between them.
The International Civil Aviation Convention (Chicago Convention) has been a backbone of international air transport system whereby air transport between States should be based on bilateral agreements, and in particular, international airfares, which are set up through IATA(International Air Transport Association) rate-fixing machinery could be approved by the governments concerned. International airfares are fares for transporting passenger and freight and their conditions between two or more countries. However, since U.S. pursued th deregulation policy in 1978 whereby routes, capacity and fares could be freely determined by airlines, many States have been following so called open-skies agreements. In many cases, aeronautical and competent authorities have been reviewing whether airlines' commercial activities including air fares could possibly conflict with free competition rules envisaged in relevant laws and regulations. As competition among airlines gets intense, airlines often resort to cooperation with other airlines in the forms such as equity exchange, M&A, code-sharing, fares consultation and resource pooling, mainly with a view to effectively use resources available and to avoid monopoly situation resulting from excessive and destructive competition among players. Whereas bearing in mind that application of competition laws is important to secure consumers' interests by preventing airlines's malpractices such as bargaining exorbitant fares, it is also important to comprehensively consider as many factors as possible, from that unilateral measure by governments may bring about retaliatory measures by the governments affected, to that airlines' cooperative practices may rather increase consumers' benefits by lowering air fares.

Link-16 is a representative TDL operated by US air force and NATO and supports structure of Multi-net. Under Multi-net, military operation can be conducted effectively since terminal nodes in Link-16 hop over total frequency band simultaneously. As air traffic is rapidly increasing, new aeronautical system is introduced or existing system should be expanded to accommodate increasing air traffic and frequency band assigned for operating this system is scarce. It is scheduled to implement frequency remapping to solve frequency scarcity. With limited frequency band for operating Link-16, as frequency remapping is implemented, degradation of Multi-net performance can happen since multiple access interference in Link-16 is increasing so it is difficult to conduct multiple military operations. Thus, Group-based frequency hopping scheme is proposed to solve this problem. We verified the performance of the proposed scheme is improved.

The introduction of automated flight systems has greatly improved aviation safety, but aircraft pilots continue to face new challenges. The pilot's stress from an aeronautical perspective can be distinguished by the 'Startle and Surprise' responses. 'Startle' is a short, strong physiological response to sudden or threatening stimuli such as unexpected gunfire. 'Surprise' is a cognitive-emotional response to an event that goes beyond one's expectations. In Martin et al.'s (2012) Startle Effect Experiment, the pilot identified physiological responses in the 'Startle' state, including delayed response and increased heart rate. In the Rahim (2020) Startle/Surprise experiment, the pilot's breathing rate and pulse rate did not change due to pre-planned emergency training. On the other hand, it was confirmed that the pilot's respiratory and heart rate were greatly increased due to the complicated aircraft and unplanned emergencies. Based on the results of these experiments, domestic pilots need to be trained to handle non-technical and various unexpected emergencies that could arise in an aircraft, rather than be just put through courses for enhancing technical capabilities or simple repetitive training as required by aviation law.

A corrugated pipe is widely used in firefighting equipment and sprinkler pipes because of its elasticity, which is less damaged by deformation and convenient facilities. However, the corrugated shape of the wall results in complex internal turbulent flow, and it is difficult to predict the pressure drop, which is an important design factor for pipe flow. The pressure drop in the corrugated tube is a function of the shape factors of the pipe wall, such as groove height, length, and pitch. Existing studies have only shown a study of pressure drop due to length changes in the case of D-shaped tubes with less than 5 pitch (P) and height (K) of the rectangular grooves in the tube. In this work, we conduct a numerical study of pressure drop for P/Ks with length and height changes of 2.8, 3.5 and 4.67 with Re Numbers of 55,000, 70,000 and 85,000. The pressure drop in the corrugated tube was interpreted to decrease with smaller P/K. We show that the pressure drop is affected by the change in the groove aspect ratio, and the increase in the height of the groove increases the recirculation area, and the larger the Reynolds number, the greater the pressure drop.
This research work presents an experimental study's outcomes to reveal the impact of an O-ring on the flow control over a sphere placed in a turbulent boundary layer. The investigation is performed quantitatively and qualitatively using particle image velocimetry (PIV) and dye visualization. The sphere model having a diamater of 42.5 mm is located in a turbulent boundary layer flow over a smooth plate for gap ratios of 0≤G/D≤1.5 at Reynolds number of 5 × 103. Flow characteristics, including patterns of instantaneous vorticity, streaklines, time-averaged streamlines, velocity vectors, velocity fluctuations, Reynolds stress correlations, and turbulence kinetic energy (), are compared and discussed for a naked sphere and spheres having O-rings. The boundary layer velocity gradient and proximity of the sphere to the flat plate profoundly influence the flow dynamics. At proximity ratios of G/D=0.1 and 0.25, a wall jet is formed between lower side of the sphere and flat plate, and velocity fluctuations increase in regions close to the wall. At G/D=0.25, the jet flow also induces local flow separations on the flat plate. At higher proximity ratios, the velocity gradient of the boundary layer causes asymmetries in the mean flow characteristics and turbulence values in the wake region. It is observed that the O-ring with various placement angles (𝜃) on the sphere has a considerable alteration in the flow structure and turbulence statistics on the wake. At lower placement angles, where the O-ring is closer to the forward stagnation point of the sphere, the flow control performance of the O-ring is limited; however, its impact on the flow separation becomes pronounced as it is moved away from the forward stagnation point. At G/D=1.50 for O-ring diameters of 4.7 (2 mm) and 7 (3 mm) percent of the sphere diameter, the -ring exhibits remarkable flow control at 𝜃=50° and 𝜃=55° before laminar flow separation occurrence on the sphere surface, respectively. This conclusion is yielded from narrowed wakes and reductions in turbulence statistics compared to the naked sphere model. The O-ring with a diameter of 3 mm and placement angle of 50° exhibits the most effective flow control. It decreases, in sequence, streamwise velocity fluctuations and length of wake recovery region by 45% and 40%, respectively, which can be evaluated as source of decrement in drag force.
In this study, hexagonal ferrite powder with chemical formula SrZn2-xCoxFe16O27 was synthesized by a solid-state reaction method and its electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption characteristics were evaluated in the frequency range of 0.1-18 GHz with absorber thickness range of 0 - 10 mm. Reflection loss (RL) affecting electromagnetic wave absorption performance was calculated based on the transmission line theory using measured complex permeabilities and permittivities. RL spectra were also directly measured for some samples. They were well matched with calculated results. High-frequency complex permeability characteristics were changed gradually according to the amount of Co substitution (x). The EM wave absorption frequency band could be tuned accordingly. Hexaferrite samples with x = 1.0, 1.25, and 1.5 exhibited remarkable maximum electromagnetic wave absorption performances with minimum RL (RLmin) lowered than -50 dB. They also showed a very broad frequency band (Δf > 10 GHz) in which more than 90% of the EM wave energy absorption occurred (RL ≤ -10 dB).
