  • Purpose - This study investigated whether there are differences in advertising effects depending on the type of advertising, divided into public service announcements (PSA) and commercial advertisements, and the form of advertising model. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - By investigating the difference in advertising effects due to the type of advertising and form of advertising model, the study was expected to reveal the optimal advertisements for achieving the desired advertising effects. The subjects were Jangan University students in their first and second year, with 102 copies of the survey questionnaire received for analysis. Results - The findings were different for the celebrities, professionals, and CEOs, except for the PSA; further, they were different among celebrities, professionals and the other types of model, except CEO, in commercial advertising. Simple regression results showed that both the professionals and CEO models had a positive impact on the effect of advertising in the case of the PSA. Conclusion - These results suggested that appropriate selection of the form of advertising model is a very important factor. Conversely, it has been suggested that the celebrity model is the most effective, reflecting the trend for commercial advertisements.

  • Purpose: The aim of this paper is to investigate whether labor unions are the main determinants of advertising expenditures and whether market competition has an impact on the relation between labor unions and advertising expenditures, focusing on distribution firms. Research design, data, and methodology: Using 914 observations of KOSPI market from 2001 to 2009 in distribution firms, this paper examines whether labor union is related to advertising expenditures, focusing on distribution firms. For this, this paper employs not only OLS regressions method but also 2SLS regressions method in which Female_Ratio(percentage of female employees) is used as instrumental. Results: This paper finds that in the distribution firms, labor union, as a major stakeholder of the company is, in terms of statistic, negatively associated with advertising expenditures. Also, market competition, in this paper, doesn't have real impact on the relation between labor unions and advertising expenditures. Conclusions: This paper presents the influence of labor unions, as a major factor in determining advertising expenditures. An executive who understands that as the amount of advertising expenditure increases, the total pie of wages to be attributed to the members of labor union will decrease.

  • Purpose - In this study, we inspected the effects of public-service advertising (PSA) and commercial advertisements on consumers' social and emotional values. Specifically, we include source credibility on advertising models as a mediating variable to compare the path difference between the social and emotional value of consumers, and to test the appropriateness of advertising expenses. Research design, data, and methodology - A total of 219 copies of effective questionnaires were used and methodologies such as Cronbach's alpha, paired samples t-test, and structural equation modeling (SEM) were conducted. Results - The results showed that the consumer model was effective at PSA, while celebrities and CEOs were effective at commercial advertising. Further, only credibility (among source credibility) made a significant difference in the test of PSA models of both PSA and commercial advertising that consumers preferred. Conclusions - The advertising model types varied depending on advertising types (for example, PSA and commercial advertising). Therefore, celebrities and CEOs appearing in commercial advertising should have no ethical or moral defect by self-control, and marketers should elect the model considering such a fact.

  • Purpose: As moment-based marketing messages (i.e., messages related to current moments or event), companies put significant investments to distribute TV advertising related to external moments in a retail environment. While the literature offers strong support for the value of distributions of context-based messaging to advertisers, less attention has been given to how to design those messages to effectively communicate across channels. This research adds a new dimension of analysis to the study of advertising context and its cross-channel effects on online consumer behavior. Research Design, Data and Methodology: A system-of-equations Tobit regression model was adopted using data collected from an advertising agency that consists of 1,223 TV ads aired during the Rio Olympics and NCAA, tagging from consumers, and a text analysis. Results: First, TV ads with high centrality of context lead to lower online search behavior and higher online social actions. Second, how brands can design messages more effectively was explored by using product information as a moderator that could improve the impact of context-based TV advertisements. Conclusions: Given that expenses in traditional channels are still one of the biggest channel management decisions, it is critical to understand how consumer engagement varies by design of context-based TV advertising.

  • Purpose - This research is to review the state of standard labeling compliance and identify the factors that are conducive to compliance with the Labeling Standards of the Health Functional Foods Act in internet distribution. Research design, data, and methodology - We checked 9 labels including product name, expiration date, manufacturing date, raw material, ingredient, operative dose, nutritional information, daily intake, and functional effect which are based on Labeling Standards of the Act from 100 health functional foods in the internet shopping malls. These 9 structure & function claims were compared using a Chi-square test. Results - There was a statistically significant difference in the use of standard labeling between domestic product and imported products (p<.001). The related strength between these two variables showed a moderate effect size. Also, there was a statistically significant difference between accredited advertising/unaccredited advertising distinction and use of standard labeling (p<.001). The related strength between these two variables showed a moderate effect size. Conclusions - The Labeling Standards of the Act were not followed and found to be related to imports or unauthorized advertising in internet distribution. The information displayed according to the Labeling Standards was only about 2 on the average, so many labels have been posted unreadably without arrangement.
