This study was carried out to develop an efficient process abating high NO concentration. A hybrid process of selective catalytic reduction(SCR) and activated carbon fiber(ACF) adsorption was newly designed and tested. Used ACF in NO adsorption was regenerated by simultaneously applying heat and vacuum. The result of ACF regeneration was for superior in the desorption condition at $140^{\circ}C$ and vacuum 600 mmHg. A commercial catalyst was used at the conditions of reaction temperature at $300^{\circ}C$, $NH_3/NO$ mole ratio = 1.0 for SCR process. NO evolved from ACF regeneration reactor could be removed by SCR reactor up to 98%. But high concentration of NO was exhausted from SCR reactor for one minute when the flue gas of NO 300 ppm and deserted NO from ACF regeneration were simultaneously treated by the same SCR reactor. Therefore, it is necessary to use additional small sized SCR reactor or to increase $NH_3$ concentration for a short time along with NO concentration rather than to mix flue gas with the gas evolving from ACF regeneration at fixed $NH_3$ inlet concentration. The hybrid process of SCR and ACF showed high NO removal efficiency over 80% at any time courses. Through the repeated cycles, stable DeNOx efficiency was maintained, indicating that the hybrid process would be a good countermeasure to the spotaneously high NO concentration instead of increasing the SCR capacity.

Most of organic compounds discharged from industrial wastewater are treated by chemical oxidation, adsorption and biodegradable process. This process has been demanded a new advanced environmental wastewater treatment process. From this point of view, an electrochemical oxidation process using electrocatalysts has been developed for the destruction of organic compounds. Through this study, a ruthenium oxide/iridium oxide supported on titanium expanded metal was fabricated by thermal decomposition method and its performance was excellent during this experiment.
In this work, we report on the preparation of the anodically-grown $TiO_2$ nanotube arrays sensitized with $In_2S_3$ nanoparticles by using the SILAR (successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction) process. We evaluate the photo-catalytic properties of the prepared hetero-structures under visible-light illumination. The results reveal that the $TiO_2/In_2S_3$ system has enhanced photo-catalytic characteristics including higher chopping height. Improved performance of the heterojunction is attributed to the narrower band gap of $In_2S_3$ and its favorable position within the conduction band relative to that of $TiO_2$.
The efficiency of heterogeneous catalysts has been investigated in ozonation process for organic removal. Heterogeneous catalytic ozonation was conducted for the degradation of humic acid in the presence of Granular Activated Carbon or Zeolite as a solid catalyst. And the results were compared to those of ozonation alone and adsorption alone without ozonation. The degradation characteristics of humic acid in each process were examined with the values of pH, TOC, $UV_{254}$ and $COD_{Cr}$.
Catalytic reduction and oxidation of NO over polyacrylonitrile based activated carbon fibers (PAN-ACF) under various conditions were carried out to develop removal process of NO from the flue gas. The effect of temperature, oxygen concentration and the moisture content for the reduction of NO with ammonia as a reducing agent was investigated. The reduction of NO increased with the oxygen concentration, but decreased with the increased temperature. The moisture content in the flue gas affects the reduction of NO as the inhibition of the adsorption of the other components and the reaction on the surface of ACE For the oxidation of NO to $NO_2$ over PAN-ACF without using a reducing gas, it showed the temperature and the oxygen concentration of the flue gas are the important factors for the NO conversion in which the conversion increased with oxygen concentration and decreased with the temperature increase and might be the alternative option for the selective catalytic reduction process.
Science mapping is a visual representation of the structure and dynamics of scholarly knowledge. Gas adsorption on catalyst supports is a crucial process in many catalytic reactions. The R package "Bibliometrix" and VosViewer software were employed for science mapping analysis. The results show that the upward trend but fluctuates from year to year for both annual scientific production and average article citations per year. Co-occurrence of the keywords were used to identify the primary fields of study and to map the existing state of research. Trending topics reveal some interesting features that support the growth of research in this field and are associated with emerging disciplines or areas of study that have not been extensively explored.
Sr hexaaluminate($Sr_{1-x}La_xMnAl_{11}O_{19-\alpha}$) were prepared by sol-gel method of metal alkoxide with 1-butanol or ethylene glycol as a solvent. The physical properties of prepared hexaaluminates were examined by TG/DTA, XRD and $N_2$ adsorption. When ethylene glycol was used as a solvent, the decomposition reaction and dehydroxylation reaction was observed above $400^{\circ}C$ and the temperature of the formation of a crystal structure of hexaaluminate was also increased resulting in small specific surface area and low catalytic activity of methane compared to Sr-hexaaluminate with 1-butanol.
The selective catalytic oxidation of toxic aromatic solvents (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and styrene) and their mixtures were studied on a $Pt/{\;}{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst at temperature ranging from $160~350^{\circ}C$. The deep conversion of aromatic solvents was increased as the inlet concentration was decreased and the reaction temperature was increased. The reactivity increases in order benzene > toluene > ethylbenzene > styrene. In mixture, remarkable effects on reaction rate and selectivity have been evidence ; the strongest inhibition effect is shown by styrene and increase in a reverse order with respect to that of reactivity. The inhibition effect was increased in order styrene > ethylbenzene > toluzene > benzene. This trend is due to the competition adsorption between the two or three reactants on the oxidized catalyst. Also, the deep conversion change of benzene was a small in tertiary mixtures(including of benzene and styrene) comparing with conversion characteristics of binary mixture with styrene. This result was due to small concentration of styrene. which had very strong inhibition effect.
The emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) generated from painting and coating processes is a worldwide problem as contributing factors to the development of photochemical smog and other environmental problems. Common methods of reducing VOC emissions are adsorption on activated carbon, membrane separation, absorption, incineration, or catalytic oxidation. In this article, the environmental issues caused by VOC emissions and the trend of legislation against such emissions will be surveyed first. Several conventional control technologies will then be summarized and the characteristics of each process will be introduced. Lastly, some examples will be described to show the hybrid processes which have been industrially applied for the recovery of VOC.

This study was conducted to investigate formaldehyde removals by silver nano-particles attached on the surface of granular activated carbon (Ag-AC) and to compare the results to those obtained with ordinary activated carbon (AC). The BET analysis showed that the overall surface area and the fraction of micropores (less than $20{\AA}$ diameter) of the Ag-AC were significantly decreased because the silver particles blocked the small pores on the surface of the Ag-AC. The formaldehyde removal capacity of the Ag-AC determined using the Freundlich isotherm was higher than that of AC. Despite the decreased BET surface area and micropore volume, the Ag-AC had the increased removal capacity for formaldehyde, presumably due to catalytic oxidation by silver nano-particles. In contrast, the adsorption intensity of the Ag-AC, estimated by 1/n in the Freundlich isotherm equation, was similar to that of the ordinary AC, indicating that the surface modification using silver nano-particles did not affect the adsorption characteristics of AC. In a column experiment, the Ag-AC also showed a longer breakthrough time than that of the AC. Simulation results using the homogeneous surface diffusion model (HSDM) were well fitted to the breakthrough curve of formaldehyde for the ordinary AC, but the predictions showed substantial deviations from the experimental data for the Ag-AC. The discrepancy was due to the catalytic oxidation of silver nano-particles that was not incorporated in the HSDM. Consequently, a new numerical model that takes the catalytic oxidation into accounts needs to be developed to predict the combined oxidation and adsorption process more accurately.
