  • Studied that the relationship between the charge density of PAC and its alkalinity, as well as the influences of PAC in paper sizing. Study results showed that PAC with higher charge density brought higher sizing degree when the same amount of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ content was dosed. However, there was no direct relationship between PAC charge density and its alkalinity, and higher PAC alkalinity can't improve its charge density. It was also found that the admixture (PPAC) of polyamine and PAC had higher charge density than PAC. The effects of PPAC on DRS and RAKD sizing were better than PAC sizing, when dosage and other sizing condition were the same.

  • In a traditional society, building materials were developed fulfilling the requirements of conveniences and functionalities such as safety, construction work, durability and economical efficiency. However, as the concern about environmental or users' health issues has been elevated recently, research and development about eco-friendly material are alto vigorously promoted further In addition, thanks to the steady growth of domestic industry, the amount of discharged industrial by-product is getting increasing. However, its recycling rate remain at low level as most industrial by-products are filled up in the land, which worsen the environmental pollution. Zeolite powder is cement admixture and is expected to have constraining effect of factors causing symptoms of inhabitants in a new house and alleviates the amount of discharged harmful elements emitted from hardened cement.

  • Recently, the study to reduce and recycle industrial waste is underway vigorously in the various fields of industry according to the conservation of environment and resources. In construction work, the disposal problem of its waste and environmental disruption have already been serious all over the world. However the recycle of waste concrete is still at an early stage, recycled aggregate from waste concrete have only used those as subsidiary road fillers. The research institute and the company make the study that it is about the properties of recycled aggregate and those structural capacity since 1990. Through the experimentation last year, we know that strength and fluidity of recycle cement are inferior to normal cement, and admixing aggregate powder deteriorates its strength. The purpose of this study is to search for appropriate heating time and to improve performance of the recycle cement while heating hardened cement which is crushed, we investigate separating aggregate from hardened cement by preheating and improvement of strength and fluidity inrecycle cement which contains admixture.

  • Recently the use of the antiwashout underwater concrete with the antiwashout admixture is increased considerably. Antiwashout underwater concrete is quite different in concept from conventional underwater concrete. By mixing an antiwashout admixture with concrete, the viscosity of the concrete is increased and its resistance to segregation under the washing action of water is enhanced. The aim of this research is to evaluate the fundamental characteristics and permeability of antiwashout underwater concrete with fly ash and blast-furnace slag. Test Results of antiwashout underwater concrete with fly ash and blast-furnace slag fluence can provide its excellent fundamental characteristics and resistance of permeability.

  • In this paper, the properties of high-strength concrete are described with respect to materials and mix conditions(water-cement ratio, chemical admixture, replacement of fly ash). As primary purposes of this study, the optimum mix design method of high-strength concrete to decrease unit cement contents is investigated, and the properties of fresh and hardened concretes are tested in terms of slump, air content and compressive strength. As results of this study, workability and strength development of the high-strength concrete depend on the water-cement ratio, replacement ratio of fly ash and dosage of the chemical admixture. The conditions which are proposed optimum mix design of the high-strength concrete show W/C 37%, S/A 42~45% and unit cement content 470~480kg/$\textrm{m}^3$. Based on the results, the applicability of high-strength concrete in site is clearly proved.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate workability and strength of concrete containing rice husk ash. For this purpose, concrete with and without rice husk ash were tested and analyzed on the workability and the characteristics fo their strength such as compressive, tensile and flexural strength according to unit weight of binder. Also, performances of rice husk ash as an admixture of concrete were compared with those of silica hume being widely used for high-strength concrete. As a result, workability and strength of rice husk ash as an admixture of concrete were analogous to those of silica hume.

  • In this study, the purpose is to suggest the data on mixing ratio which effects on the carbonation of concrete by replacing various admixture such as silica fume, fly ash, slag powder. Thus, we have experimented the accelerated test on the carbonation related to hardened body of the concrete which was admixed by slag powder, silica fume, fly ash and it was cured for 4 weeks in carbonation accelerator after 28 days curing water. The result of this experiment showed that carbonation speed increased highly when admixtures be used to replacing by growing of admixture ratio. especially, the test sample which was replaced with silica fume 15$\%$ and slag powder 40$\%$, was promoted highly to carbonation.

  • The purpose of this study reutilization of waste fine tailing (FT) as admixture for cement and concrete. Various admixtures were made of Fine tailings and 2 Types of OPC, fly-ash and blast furnace slag. Cement mortars and concrete with FT are tested for fluidity and compressive strength. Also, the hydration reactivity of cement mortar with FT was examined by XRD and SEM morphology analysis. This work showed that the waste fine tailing could be effectively utilized as replacement materials of cement without any decrease in the strength if we can control the blaine of materials like cement, blast furnace slag and fly ash.

  • An electromagnetic fluidized bed was proposed for the continuous separation of magnetic particles from the fine a admixtures with nonHmagnetic particles. The effects of operating variables on the magnetic fraction in the separated p particles were examined, including superficial gas velocity, mixing fraction of magnetic particles (= 100-mixing fraction of n non-magnetic particles) in the admixture, and electric current supplied to the electwmagnet. It was found that the s separation was possible when a magnetic force formed by the electromagnets works on the magnetic particles over the hydrodynamic force caused by a gas stream for fluidizing the fine admixture.

  • The production of extracellular polysaccharide, EPS WN9, from Paenibacillus sp. and its suitability as a viscosity modifying admixture for cement mortar mixing were investigated. After 48h culture in an optimized medium, cell growth and EPS production were 1.2g/L and 4.0g/L, respectively. By adding EPS WN9 to mortar, it was possible to prepare a homogeneous mortar without material segregation and excess air entrapment. The optimal amount of EPS addition to mortar found to be 0.02 to 0.05%(w/w) of the cement used. Increasing the dosage of EPS WN9 from 0 to 0.05%(w/w) resulted in a setting retardation of 0.14h to 0.8h and an increase in the compressive strength of mortar of 10 to 20%.
