Selection and optimization of nutritional risk screening tools for esophageal cancer patients in China

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Malnutrition has multiple impacts on surgical success, postoperative complications, duration of hospital stay, and costs, particularly for cancer patients. There are various nutrition risk screening tools available for clinical use. Herein, we aim to determine the most appropriate nutritional risk screening system for esophageal cancer (EC) patients in China. SUBJECTS/METHODS: In total, 138 EC patients were enrolled in this study and evaluated by experienced nurses using three different nutritional screening tools, the Nutrition Risk Screening 2002 tool (NRS2002), the Patient-generated Subjective Globe Assessment (PG-SGA), and the Nutrition Risk Index (NRI).We compared sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative likelihood ratios, and Youden index generated by each of the three screening tools. Finally, cut-off points for all three tools were re-defined to optimize and validate the best nutritional risk screening tool for assessing EC patients. RESULTS: Our data suggested that all three screening tools were 100% sensitive for EC patients, while the specificities were 44.4%, 2.96%, and 59.26% for NRS 2002, PG-SGA, and NRI, respectively. NRI had a higher positive likelihood ratio as well as a higher area under the receiver operating characteristic curve compared to those of NRS 2002 and PG-SGA; although, all three tools had null negative likelihood ratios. After adjusting the cut-off points, the specificity and accuracy for all tools were significantly improved, however, the NRI remained the most appropriate nutritional risk screening system for EC patients. CONCLUSIONS: The NRI is the most suitable (highest sensitivity and accuracy) nutritional risk screening tool for EC patients. The performance of the NRI can be significantly improved if the cut-off point is modified according to the results obtained using MedCalc software.

중국의 불법체류 외국인근로자에 대한 법적 규제에 관한 비교법적 연구 (The Comparative Law Research On The Mandatory Control About Illegal Foreign Workers in China)

  • 그동안 대부분의 국가에서 합법적인 취업활동을 위한 입법정책을 추진해왔지만 불법체류를 완화하기 위한 노력에도 불구하고 거의 성공적인 사례는 없을 정도로 어느 국가든 불법체류근로자들에 대한 사회문제가 발생하고 있다. 중국의 경우에도 예외는 아니다. 현재 중국 국내 외국인 불법취업 문제도 현재와 미래의 사회문제화 될 전망이다. 하지만 이를 법적으로 대응하는 중국 출입국관리법과 불법취업자에 대한 입법정책이 매우 소홀한 편이다. 불법취업 외국인 권리에 관한 법률규범 등 조정하는 수단이 부족하고 구제방법도 충분하지 않다. 국제적인 규범기준에 걸 맞는 중국 내 불법취업 외국인 권리보호에 관한 법적권리를 확보하는 것이 필요하다. 이를 위해 관련법 규범을 제정하고 이를 토대로 사후 행정 관리를 강화해야 한다. 주요 국가들의 추세와 경향은 불법체류자의 고용을 고용주를 중심으로 엄격하게 규제하고 있듯이 중국에서도 외국인근로자 대상의 단속보다는 고용주에 대한 규제를 강화할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 불법외국인을 고용하는 고용주에게 과태료와 벌금, 징역형뿐만 아니라 각종 부담, 본국송환비용 지불 등 상당한 불이익을 받게 하여야 한다. 불법체류자의 자발적 귀환(Freiwillige $R\ddot{u}ckehr$)촉진프로그램 등을 운영하고 일정기일에 자진 귀국하는 불법체류자에게 범칙금을 면제하는 등의 조치를 취할 필요가 있다. 끝으로 중국에서도 불법체류 외국인정책의 방향이 불확실한 상태로 유지되어 고용주와 외국인근로자의 혼란 내지는 잘못된 선택을 방관하기 보다는 관련부처에서 적극적인 정책 방향성을 갖고 추진해나가야 할 것이다.

Development of a Belt Pick-up Type Two-row Sesame Reaper

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a walking-type two-row sesame reaper, which can simultaneously perform the cutting and collecting of sesame plants and other crops like perilla and soybean. Methods: The factors involved in reaping sesame were determined experimentally in order to design a prototype of the sesame reaper. The prototype is made up of four parts for cutting, conveying, collecting, and running. The height of two disc-plate saw blades on the cutting part is adjusted by an adjusting wheel, and peripheral speed is adjusted in accordance with the running speed. The conveying belt of the conveying part can be tilted from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$. The collecting part extracts a predetermined amount of transferred sesame plants. The prototype was used to evaluate the performance at different working speeds, so that the work efficiency can be calculated. Results: The center of gravity of the sesame plants was 900 mm, measured from the end of the cut stem. The diameter of the disc-plate saw blade was determined to be 355 mm, peripheral speed was 20.4-32.7 m/s, and the picking height of the conveying belt for sesame was 130 mm. The performance of transfer and collection of the sesame, when the insertion angles were $60^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$, proved to be excellent. However, when the angle was over $120^{\circ}$, the performance was only 75-80%. The performance was at 100% efficiency when the ratio between running speed and conveying belt speed of the prototype was 1:2, which seems to be the ideal ratio for the sesame reaper. Conclusions: A sesame reaper was developed, which can integrate the processes of cutting, conveying, and collecting, by investigating and considering various factors involved in the reaping process. The sesame reaper can reduce the costs for yielding and producing sesame due to its highly efficient performance.

An Open Top Chamber for Forage Maize to Study the Effect of Elevated Temperature by Global Warming

  • The increase in temperature due to climate warming is predicted to affect crop yields in the future. Until now, various types of OTC (open top chamber) that simulate the future climate condition have been developed and used to study the effect of temperature increase due to global warming on maize growth. However, in most OTCs, high equipment and maintenance costs were required to artificially increase the temperature. This study was carried to develop a cost-effective and simple OTC suitable for climate warming experiments for forage maize. Three octagonal OTCs with a height of 3.5 m × a diameter of 4.08 m and a partially covered top were constructed. The lower part of OTC covered film was opened at a height of 26 cm (OTC-26), 12 cm (OTC-12) from the ground surface, or not opened (0 cm, OTC-0). Mean air temperatures during the daytime on a sunny day in OTC-0, OTC-12 and OTC-26 increased to 3.23℃, 1.33℃, and 0.89℃, respectively, compared to the ambient control plot. For a pilot test, forage maize, 'Gwangpyeongok' was grown at OTCs and ambient control plots. As a result, in the late maize vegetative growth phase (July 30), the plant height was increased more than 45% higher than the ambient control plot in all OTC plots, and the stem diameter also increased in all OTC plots. These results indicate that it is possible to set the temperature inside the OTC by adjusting the opening height of the lower end of the OTC, and it can be applied to study the response of forage maize to elevated temperature. An OTC, with its advantages of energy free, low maintenance cost, and simple temperature setting, will be helpful in studying maize growth responsiveness to climate warming in the future.

공정별 여유시간과 야적장 규모를 고려한 건설자재의 현장 재고관리 방안 연구 (On-site Inventory Management Plan for Construction Materials Considering Activity Float Time and Size of a Stock Yard)

  • 많은 자재의 재고를 위해서는 넓은 야적공간이 요구되며, 보관기간이 길어짐에 따라 유지비용이 증가하고, 자재를 건설 현장에 적치할 경우 이동 불편과 작업공간 부족으로 안전사고가 우려된다. 반면 자재를 확보하지 못한 건설 현장은 재고가 부족하여 설계변동 등의 예상치 못한 수요 발생 시 대응이 어렵고 공기 지연 발생과 잦은 주문으로 인해 주문 비용이 증가할 수 있다. 이렇듯 적정재고량의 확보는 중요한 요소임에도 불구하고 건설 현장의 자재관리는 많은 경우에 현장관리자의 경험에 의존해 운영되는 사례가 많으므로 현장의 공정 조건이 반영된 합리적인 자재 재고관리 방안이 필요하다. 본 연구는 선후행 공정 현황, 야적장 크기, 자재 운반비, 주문 시기, 주문량 등과 같은 현장 조건을 반영하여 경제성 있는 자재관리 방법론을 제안한다. 이를 위해 공정별 여유시간, 야적장의 크기, 주문량을 주요 변수로 하여 공정표에서 부속공정을 조정하면서 적정재고량을 설정하고, 이 과정에 유전알고리즘을 적용하여 최적화된 주문 시점 및 주문량을 제시한다. 결과를 통해 도출된 운반비는 적합도 지표로 설정하고 사례적용을 통한 재고관리의 효율성을 검증한다.

  • 최근 국내 건설계약 문화가 선진화 되어가고 클레임 발생 건수가 증가함에 따라 클레임 관리의 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 선진 외국의 경우 분쟁 예방 및 건설 분쟁에 따른 문제점을 최소화하기 위한 클레임 관리 기법의 개발 및 클레임 자료의 데이터베이스화 방안에 관한 연구가 지속적으로 이루어져 왔으나, 국내의 경우 최근 클레임 발생 건수의 급속한 증가 추세에도 불구하고 이에 대한 연구는 매우 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 클레임 판례/사례, 유권해석 및 법률조항의 분석을 통해 규명된 원인요소를 중심으로 클레임의 예방과 해결을 위한 분류체계 및 알고리즘을 개발하고, 웹 및 데이터베이스 기술을 활용하여 건설 프로젝트 참여 주체들이 자신의 클레임 사안들을 보다 쉽게 분석하고 예방과 해결을 위한 의사결정을 지원할 수 있도록 하는 전산화 시스템을 개발하는 것이다. 개발 시스템의 활용을 통해 건설 프로젝트 참여 주체는 클레임 판례/사례, 유권해석, 법률조항, 책임관계 및 타당성 등을 체계적으로 분석하여 예측 가능한 클레임을 사전에 대비하고 발생된 클레임 사안에 효과적으로 대처하여 클레임 처리 업무의 효율성을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

월면토를 이용한 달 유인 우주기지 보호층의 기술적 요구조건에 관한 연구 (Investigation of Technical Requirements for a Protective Shield with Lunar Regolith for Human Habitat)

  • 달 극지방에 얼음이 존재한다는 사실을 발견하고 달 현지자원활용과 유인기지 건설에 국제적 관심이 증대되고 있다. 대기가 없는 달은 지구환경과 다르게 운석충돌, 우주방사선, 극한 온도편차의 위험에 노출되고 있다. 이러한 3대 위협요소로부터 유인 우주기지를 보호하기 위해 보호층 시공이 반드시 요구된다. 월면토를 보호층 시공 재료로 사용하는 것은 지구-달 운송에 필요한 비용 절감과 대량의 원자재 확보라는 관점에서 상당히 매력적이다. 또한, 별도의 제작 및 통합 일정을 위한 추가적인 시간이 필요치 않고 지구에서 재보급 없이 쉽게 수리 및 개조가 가능하다. 환경이 변하는 경우에도 유인 우주기지의 구조적 한계 내에서 보호층 두께 조절이 가능하다. 월면토를 이용한 보호층과 관련한 다양한 연구들이 진행되어 왔으나, 보호층의 요구조건에 대해서는 다양한 의견들이 제시되어 왔다. 본 논문에서 달 지상 3대 위협요소별로 상세히 살펴본 결과를 토대로 장기 유인거주를 위해서는 2m 이상의 보호층 시공이 필요한 것으로 판단하였다. 이를 기반으로 보호층 시공에 필요한 기술과 달 지상에서 급속으로 시공이 가능한 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

연합 학습 환경에서의 랜덤 포레스트 알고리즘 최적화 전략 연구 (Research on Optimization Strategies for Random Forest Algorithms in Federated Learning Environments)

  • 연합 학습은 분산 환경에서 데이터 프라이버시와 보안을 유지하면서 효율적으로 머신러닝 모델을 학습하는 방법으로 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 연합 학습 환경에서 랜덤 포레스트 모델의 성능을 최적화하기 위해 새로운 FedRFBagging 알고리즘을 제안한다. 클라이언트별 데이터 특성에 기반하여 로컬 랜덤 포레스트 모델의 트리를 동적으로 조정함으로써 통신 비용을 줄이고, 다수의 클라이언트 환경에서도 높은 예측 정확도를 달성할 수 있다. 제안하는 방법은 다양한 데이터 조건에 적응하여 모델의 안정성과 학습 속도를 크게 향상시킨다. 랜덤 포레스트 모델은 여러 개의 결정 트리로 구성되나, 연합 학습 환경에서 모든 트리를 서버로 전송하면 통신 오버헤드가 기하급수적으로 증가하여 사용이 어려워진다. 또한 클라이언트 간 데이터 분포의 차이로 인해 트리의 품질 불균형이 발생할 수 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 FedRFBagging 알고리즘을 제안하며 이는 각 클라이언트에서 성능이 높은 트리만을 선택해 서버로 전송하고, 서버는 불순도 값을 기준으로 트리들을 선택하여 최적의 글로벌 모델을 구성한다. 이를 통해 통신 오버헤드를 줄이고 다양한 데이터 분포에서도 높은 예측 성능을 유지할 수 있다. 글로벌 모델은 다양한 클라이언트 데이터를 반영하지만, 각 클라이언트의 데이터 특성은 다를 수 있다. 이를 보완하기 위해 클라이언트는 글로벌 모델에 추가 트리를 학습하여 로컬 데이터에 맞춘 최적화를 수행한다. 이를 통해 전체 모델의 예측 정확도를 높이고 변화하는 데이터 분포에 적응할 수 있다. 본 연구는 연합 학습 환경에서 랜덤 포레스트 모델이 가지는 통신 비용과 성능 문제를 효과적으로 해결하여 적용 가능한 연합 학습 환경에서 랜덤 포레스트 모델을 위한 알고리즘임을 시사한다.

유아교육기관에서의 급식관리 실태에 대한 교사 및 학부모의 인식 연구 (The Different View Point of Child Education Center Food Service Program between the Parents and the Teachers)

  • To survey the different view points about food service programs among parents and teachers, 2 types of questionnaires, which consisted of attitude, perception, satisfaction and demand of the food service program in child education centers, were used. The data was collected from 2450 parents and 450 teachers who attended a child education center in 16 provinces, nationwide. SPSS was used for descriptive analysis and ANOVA test and $X^2-test$. The frinding results were as follows. 1. The average serving size of meal (lunch) were 80 meals per day and 167 meals per day at large institutions. Mean cost of snacks was 14,709 won per month and mean costs of lunch were 29,319 won per month. The mean price was not significantly different according to the scale of institution. The numbers of servings of lunch, morning snack and afternoon snack were 5, 3.4 and 3.5 times per week each. $56.4\%$ of the institutions served meals to children in classrooms, but the national/public institutions, which were attending elementary school, served meals in a dining place in the elementary school. 2. Teacher controlled serving portion size of snacks $(79.6\%)$ and lunch $(88.8\%)\;and\;30.1\%$ of teacher did not allow leaving lunch food. The ratio of knowing about preserved meals of the teacher who worked at a small institution was significantly higher than the teacher who worked at large institutions (p<0.01). 3. Between parents and teachers, several different view points about school lunch programs were detected. Most parents and teachers wanted that the school lunch to be fully cooked and served at the child education institution itself, but $12.2\%$ of parents and $14.4\%$ of teachers wanted a catering service. The teachers group preferred 'lunch box from home' and 'home partially prepared lunch' as an ideal meal serving type than the parent groups (p<0.01). And there were significantly different view points about price factors in school meals, teachers group highly answered that operating expenses must be added in meal prices. 4. The teacher groups' priorities of education activities during meal time were a significantly lower score than parents group in overall education activities. Teacher and parent groups pointed out that individual sanitation activities were most important of the education activities during meal time, but promoting good eating habits was the lowest score in both groups. 5. 'Improving taste and food quality' was most urgent in food service at child education centers, but there were significantly different view points between parent groups $(64.5\%)$ and teacher groups $(43.8\%)\;(p<0.05)$. They answered at a lower percent in 'employee qualified person' and 'cost control' point to improve food service, but there were also different opinions between the two groups (p<0.01). 6. As to the matter of the advantages and disadvantages of catering services, two group answered that the advantages of a catering service were 'convenience' and 'to solve facilities and labor problems', disadvantages were 'lower in food freshness' and 'sanitation problems'. There were also several different view pionts in catering services, the parents groups were more anxious about food sanitation than teachers. This study found several different view points about school food services among parents and teachers. To improve food services at child education institutions, there is a need to adjust the differences between the two groups through interactive communication channels and education and to employ dietitians as taking charge of adjusting roles between the two groups.

온라인 네트워킹 활동이 가상협업 역량 및 업무성과에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Online Social Networking on Individual Virtual Competence and Task Performance in Organizations)

  • With the advent of communication technologies including electronic collaborative tools and conferencing systems provided over the Internet, virtual collaboration is becoming increasingly common in organizations. Virtual collaboration refers to an environment in which the people working together are interdependent in their tasks, share responsibility for outcomes, are geographically dispersed, and rely on mediated rather than face-to face, communication to produce an outcome. Research suggests that new sets of individual skill, knowledge, and ability (SKAs) are required to perform effectively in today's virtualized workplace, which is labeled as individual virtual competence. It is also argued that use of online social networking sites may influence not only individuals' daily lives but also their capability to manage their work-related relationships in organizations, which in turn leads to better performance. The existing research regarding (1) the relationship between virtual competence and task performance and (2) the relationship between online networking and task performance has been conducted based on different theoretical perspectives so that little is known about how online social networking and virtual competence interplay to predict individuals' task performance. To fill this gap, this study raises the following research questions: (1) What is the individual virtual competence required for better adjustment to the virtual collaboration environment? (2) How does online networking via diverse social network service sites influence individuals' task performance in organizations? (3) How do the joint effects of individual virtual competence and online networking influence task performance? To address these research questions, we first draw on the prior literature and derive four dimensions of individual virtual competence that are related with an individual's self-concept, knowledge and ability. Computer self-efficacy is defined as the extent to which an individual beliefs in his or her ability to use computer technology broadly. Remotework self-efficacy is defined as the extent to which an individual beliefs in his or her ability to work and perform joint tasks with others in virtual settings. Virtual media skill is defined as the degree of confidence of individuals to function in their work role without face-to-face interactions. Virtual social skill is an individual's skill level in using technologies to communicate in virtual settings to their full potential. It should be noted that the concept of virtual social skill is different from the self-efficacy and captures an individual's cognition-based ability to build social relationships with others in virtual settings. Next, we discuss how online networking influences both individual virtual competence and task performance based on the social network theory and the social learning theory. We argue that online networking may enhance individuals' capability in expanding their social networks with low costs. We also argue that online networking may enable individuals to learn the necessary skills regarding how they use technological functions, communicate with others, and share information and make social relations using the technical functions provided by electronic media, consequently increasing individual virtual competence. To examine the relationships among online networking, virtual competence, and task performance, we developed research models (the mediation, interaction, and additive models, respectively) by integrating the social network theory and the social learning theory. Using data from 112 employees of a virtualized company, we tested the proposed research models. The results of analysis partly support the mediation model in that online social networking positively influences individuals' computer self-efficacy, virtual social skill, and virtual media skill, which are key predictors of individuals' task performance. Furthermore, the results of the analysis partly support the interaction model in that the level of remotework self-efficacy moderates the relationship between online social networking and task performance. The results paint a picture of people adjusting to virtual collaboration that constrains and enables their task performance. This study contributes to research and practice. First, we suggest a shift of research focus to the individual level when examining virtual phenomena and theorize that online social networking can enhance individual virtual competence in some aspects. Second, we replicate and advance the prior competence literature by linking each component of virtual competence and objective task performance. The results of this study provide useful insights into how human resource responsibilities assess employees' weakness and strength when they organize virtualized groups or projects. Furthermore, it provides managers with insights into the kinds of development or training programs that they can engage in with their employees to advance their ability to undertake virtual work.
