Mobile LCD Characterization using XYZ Electro-Optical Transfer Functions for RGBCMYK Components (RGBCMYK 성분의 XYZ 전광 변환 함수를 이용한 모바일 LCD의 특성화)

  • Most display characterization methods, such as the gain-offset-gamma (GOG) model and S-curve model, generally assume that displays have two fundamental characteristics, channel -chromaticity-constancy and channel-independence. However, these assumptions are not so applicable in the case of liquid crystal (LC)-based mobile displays. Accordingly, modifications are required to enable the application of conventional display characterization methods to mobile displays. Therefore, this study proposes the modeling of distinct EOTFs in terms of the X, Y, and Z values for each channel to consider the differences among the EOTFs resulting from channel-chromaticity-inconstancy. In addition, to overcome the poor additivity property among the channels due to channel-interaction, the proposed method also models and uses the EOTFs of the X, Y, and Z values for the inter-channel components cyan, magenta, yellow, and gray Experimental results confirm that the mobile display color values predicted by the proposed characterization method are more accurate than those predicted by other characterization methods due to considering the channel-chromaticity-inconstancy and/or channel-dependence of the display.

  • Substituent effects of substrate and leaving group for the reaction of substituted ${\beta}$-phenylethyl arenesulfonates with pyridine were determined conductometrically in acetonitrile at 50∼70$^{\circ}$C. The substituent effect in substrate is not so significant than expected, but still the electron donating substituent shows the slight acceleration to give a small negative ${\rho}$ value and Hammett plots show slight curvature on the acting substituents, even though it is not so remarkable than that of benzyl system. These results represent a little bit the favorable bond breaking at the transition state by the electron donating substituents. The effects of leaving group in the arenesulfonates in which the rate constants are decreased by electron donating substituents, while electron withdrawing groups presented the reverse effects. Hammett ${\rho}$ value is significantly smaller than that of p-nitrobenzyl arenesulfonates and thus, the mechanism should be closer to tight $S_N2$ one. Especially 2,5-dichlorobenzenesulfonate was more accelerated than expected at the additivity of substituents. This facts showed that dichlorobenzenesulfonate anion is more stabilized by the great electron withdrawing substituents at transition state.

Feeding Trials to Compare Theoretical Accuracy between Apparent and True Metabolizable Energy Systems in Chick Diets (병아리 사료에서 일반대사에너지와 순대사에너지의 이론적 정확성 비교를 위한 실험)

  • True metabolizable energy(TME) is believed a better indicator for animal performance than apparent metabolizable energy (AME) for excluding the endogenous energy losses from excreta, However few researches have been conducted to compare superiority of any energy systems through practical animal feeding tests. Present study was to compare the energy systems in young chicks in terms of predictability of energy intake for the birds performances including body energy retention and of methodological accuracy by evaluating reproducibility and additi-vity of energy values of feed ingredients and compound diets. Five ingredients such as yellow corn wheat soybean meal fish meal and wheat bran were measured for their various biological energy values. in the first feeding trial chicks were restric-ted-fed the basal diet at 80, 60 and 40% on weight basis of the amount of feed ingested by chicks fed ad libitum the same diet. chicks in the second trial were also restricted-fed diets at levels of 80, 70, 60 and 50% on energy basis of the amount consumed by the basak duet group fed ad libitum The diets in the latter trial were however composed of differeent formulations from the basal diet. One-week-old Single Comb White Leghorn male chicks were individually alloted in a cage on 10 cages/treatment basis and fed the diets for 14 days. Individual carcass energy was measured after the feeding trials. Coefficients of variation of energy measurements were lesser for nitrogen-corrected AME and TME(AMEn & TMEn respectively) than AME and TME values suggesting taht reprodu-cibility of energy determinations by former systems could be better than the latters. The coeffi-cients for AME and TME were almkost of the same values. Additivity obtained by the rations between the calculated values and catual measurements appeared quite satisfactory for all the energy systems. Those of AME and TME however were relatively better than the other systems. Regression coefficient ${r}^2$ between energy intake by various systems and chick performances appeared higher for TME, AMEn and TMEn than AME implying that the former systems could provide better predictability for body weight gain and energy retention than the AME. The ${r}^2$ values for TME and AMEn particularly for body weight gain were on the average 0.967 and 0.960 respectively. In conclusion TME or AMEn can be recommended as choice for dietary energy system in terms of performance predictability of the birds and of procedural convenience for the measurements.

Color decomposition method for multi-primary display using 3D-LUT in linearized LAB space (멀티프라이머리 디스플레이를 위한 3D-LUT 색 신호 분리 방법)

  • This paper proposes the color decomposition method for multi-primary display (MPD) using a 3-dimensional look-up-table (3D-LUT) in a linearized LAB space. The proposed method decomposes conventional three-primary colors into the multi-primary control values of a display device under constraints of tristimulus match. To reproduce images on the MPD, the color signals should be estimated from a device-independent color space, such as CIEXYZ and CIELAB. In this paper, the linearized LAB space is used due to its linearity and additivity in color conversion. The proposed method constructs the 3-D LUT, which contain gamut boundary information to calculate color signals of the MPD. For the image reproduction, standard RGB or CIEXYZ is transformed to the linearized LAB and then hue and chroma are computed to refer to the 3D-LUT. In the linearlized LAB space, the color signals of a gamut boundary point with the same lightness and hue of an input point are calculated. Also, color signals of a point on gray axis are calculated with the same lightness of an input. With gamut boundary points and input point, color signals of the input points are obtained with the chroma ratio divided by the chroma of the gamut boundary point. Specially, for the hue change, neighboring boundary points are employed. As a result the proposed method guarantees the continuity of color signals and computational efficiency, and requires less amount of memory.

Algorithm of Analysing Electric Power Signal for Home Electric Power Monitoring in Non-Intrusive Way (가정용 전력 모니터링을 위한 전력신호 분석 알고리즘 개발)

  • This paper presents an algorithm identifying devices that generate observed mixed signals that are collected at main power-supply line. The proposed algorithm, which is necessary for low cost electric power monitoring system at appliance-level, that is non-intrusive load monitoring system, divides incoming mixed signal into multiple time intervals, calculating difference-signals between consecutive time interval, and identifies which device is operating at the time interval by analysing the difference-signals. Since the features of one device can remain when the time interval is short enough and the features are independent and additive, well-known classification algorithms can be used to classify the difference-signals with features of N individual devices, otherwise $2^N$ features might be necessary. The proposed algorithm was verified using data mixed in a laboratory with individual devices's data collected from field. When maximum 4 devices operate or stop sequentially and when features satisfy the requirements of proposed algorithm, the proposed algorithm resulted nearly 100% success rate under the constrained test condition. In order to apply the proposed algorithm in real world, the number devices shall increase, the time interval shall be smaller and the pattern of mixture shall be more diverse. However we can expect, if features used follow guidelines of proposed algorithm, future system could have certain level of performance without the guideline.

On the Evaluation of Physical Distribution Service in Ports (항만물류서비스의 평가에 관하여)

  • It is required to consider pricing and non-pricing factors and external economy in order to achieve the objects of physical distribution system in a port. Recently, among the three factors, much attention has been paid to non-pricing factor in the system. Although physical distribution service in a port(PDSP)has been frequently mentioned in documents and literature related to port and shipping studies, few study on it has not been systematically and scientifically made due to the following problems; $\circ$ there are not proper criteria to evaluate level and quality of PDSP and as a result it is difficult to set up a unified standard for doing so. $\circ$ algorithms to evaluate problems with complex and ambiguous attributes and multiple levels in PDSP are not available. This thesis aims to establish a paradigm to evaluate PDSP and to abvance existing decision making methods to deal with complex and ambiguous problems in PDSP. To tackle the first purpose, extensive and thorough literature survey was carried out on general physical distribution service, which is a corner stone to handle PDSp. In addition, through interviews and questionnaire to the expert, it have extracted 82 factors of physical distribution service in a port. They have been classified into 6 groups by KJ method and each group defined by the expert's advice as follows; a. Potentiality b. Exactness c. safety d. Speediness e. Convenience f. Linkage Prior to the service evaluation, many kinds of its attributes must be identified on the basis of rational decision owing to complexity and ambiguity inherent in PDSP. An analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is a method to evaluate them but it is not applicable to PDSP that have property of non-additivity and overlapped attributes. Therefore, probablility measure can not be used to evaluate PDSP but fuzzy measure is required. Hierarchical fuzzy integral method, which is merged AHP with fuzzy measure, is also not effective method to evaluate attributes because it has vary complicated way to calculate fuzzy measure identification coefficient of attributes. A new evaluation algorithm has been introduced to solve problems with multi-attribute and multi-level hierarchy, which is called hierarchy fuzzy process(HFP).Analysis on ambiguous aspects of PDSP under study which is not easy to be defined is prerequisite to evaluate it. HFP is different from algorithm existed in that it clarified the relationship between fuzzy measure and probability measure adopted in AHP and that it directly calculates the family of fuzzy measure from overlapping coefficient and probability measure to treat and evaluate ambiguous and complex aspects of PDSP. A new evaluation algorithm HFP was applied to evaluate level of physical distribution service in the biggest twenty container port in the world. The ranks of the ports are as follows; 1. Toxicity of Organophosphorus Flame Retardants (OPFRs) and Their Mixtures in Aliivibrio fischeri and Human Hepatocyte HepG2 (인체 간세포주 HepG2 및 발광박테리아를 활용한 유기인계 난연제와 그 혼합물의 독성 스크리닝)

  • Background: Organophosphorus flame retardants (OPFRs) are a group of chemical substances used in building materials and plastic products to suppress or mitigate the combustion of materials. Although OPFRs are generally used in mixed form, information on their mixture toxicity is quite scarce. Objectives: This study aims to elucidate the toxicity and determine the types of interaction (e.g., synergistic, additive, and antagonistic effect) of OPFRs mixtures. Methods: Nine organophosphorus flame retardants, including TEHP (tris(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate) and TDCPP (tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate), were selected based on indoor dust measurement data in South Korea. Nine OPFRs were exposed to the luminescent bacteria Aliivibrio fischeri for 30 minutes and the human hepatocyte cell line HepG2 for 48 hours. Chemicals with significant toxicity were only used for mixture toxicity tests in HepG2. In addition, the observed ECx values were compared with the predicted toxicity values in the CA (concentration addition) prediction model, and the MDR (model deviation ratio) was calculated to determine the type of interaction. Results: Only four chemicals showed significant toxicity in the luminescent bacteria assays. However, EC50 values were derived for seven out of nine OPFRs in the HepG2 assays. In the HepG2 assays, the highest to lowest EC50 were in the order of the molecular weight of the target chemicals. In the further mixture tests, most binary mixtures show additive interactions except for the two combinations that have TPhP (triphenyl phosphate), i.e., TPhP and TDCPP, and TPhP and TBOEP (tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate). Conclusions: Our data shows OPFR mixtures usually have additivity; however, more research is needed to find out the reason for the synergistic effect of TPhP. Also, the mixture experimental dataset can be used as a training and validation set for developing the mixture toxicity prediction model as a further step.
