The Experience of the first-married stepmother's stress and adaptation to her stepfamily (초혼계모의 재혼가족생활 스트레스와 적응에 대한 경험적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the specific and empirical contents in terms of first-married stepmother about her stress and efforts to adapt to her stepfamily. This studies relied on the qualitative research method in order to approach stepmother's subjective experience. There were 6 stepmother respondents who were 6 first-marrieds living in Seoul or Kyoungki area. The data was collected by in-depth personal interview.‘Open coding process’, a part of grounded theory procedures were used to analyzed the data. The major findings can be summarized as follows: 1. When focused o stressors, the stress of stepmothers were categorized into 4 categories. Those were the following: 1 When focused on stressors, the stress of stepmothers were categorized into 4 categories. Those were the following: (1) Stepmother's own problem such as stepmother' identity problem; (2) Problems within stepfamily such as problems about relations with husbands, stepchildren, and her own children; (3) Problems of stepmother family's kin such as relational problems with former spouses, in-laws, and her parent; (4) Problems of social relationship such as isolation and alienation in social relationship and neighbors' prejudice about stepmother. 2. In overcoming stress from stepfamily life and adapting to it, 4 categories were identified as important. Contents of 4 categories were such like this: (1) Stepmother's own efforts - (a) give a positive meaning to marriage or remarriage (b) flexible personality (c) situation-accepting attitude (d) exclusive management of household income (e) job (f) perseverance for time to adaptation; (2) Positive feedback within stepfamily - (a) supportive husband (b) sense of unity as a couple (c) psychological reward from stepchildren (d) existence of stepmother's own child (e) behavior for family solidarity (f) family-centered religious life; (3) Stepfamily's relationship with former spouses such as breakdown in relationship with ex-wives or ex-husbands; (4) Support from stepmothers' kin and people in social network with stepmothers. It was concluded that to reduce stress and to help adapt to stepfamily, stepmother should make an effort, and that her stepfamily and her kin should cooperate and support. In addition, negative stereotype of stepmother and stepfamily should disappeared. It was suggested that studies on stepfamily should be vitalized and that programs for preparing remarriage and counseling for stepfamily should be spread.

  • When multiple clients share bandwidth and receive a streaming service, HTTP Adaptive Streaming has a problem in that the bandwidth is measured inaccurately due to the ON-OFF pattern of the segment request. To solve the problem caused by the ON-OFF pattern, the proposed PANDA (Probe AND Adapt) determines the quality of the segment to be requested while increasing the target bandwidth. However, since the target bandwidth is increased by a fixed amount, there is a problem in low bandwidth utilization and a slow response to changes in bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a video quality control scheme that improves the low bandwidth utilization and slow responsiveness of PANDA. The proposed scheme adjusts the amount of increase in the target bandwidth according to the bandwidth utilization after judging the bandwidth utilization by comparing the segment download time and the request interval. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme can fully utilize the bandwidth and can quickly respond to changes in bandwidth.

A study on Modified Method of Orthogonal Neural Network for Nonlinear system approximation (비선형 시스템의 근사화를 위한 직교 신경망의 수정 기법에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents an Modified Orthogonal Neural Network(MONN), new modified model of Orthogonal Neural Network(0NN) based on orthogonal functions, and applies it to nonlinear system approximator. ONN proposed by Yang and Tseng, doesn't have the problems of traditional multilayer feedforward neural networks such as the determination of initial weights and the numbers of layers and processing elements. And tranining of ONN converges rapidly. But ONN cannot adapt its orthogonal functions to a given system. The accuracy of ONN, in terms of the minimal possible deviation between system and approximator, is essentially dependent on the choice of basic orthogonal functions. In order to improve ability and effectiveness of approximate nonlinear systems, MONN has an input transformation layer to adapt its basic orthogonal functions to a given nonlinear system. The results show that MONN has the excellent performance of approximate nonlinear systems and the input transfnrmation makes the ability of MONN better than one of ONN.

  • This study was on the investigation of how to adapt Ethnography, main research methodology in Anthropology, to "User-Centered Design Research", which is a recently focused issue in design field. Thus, this paper has highlighted concrete application processes and methods which were adapted in the case study of developing a concept for the new microwave oven. This paper mainly consists of two parts. First, the basic concept of "Ethnography" is introduced based on secondary research, and the concept of "Culture" is defined as the favorable one to design field. This part was done for constructing knowledge basis which is needed in establishing thematicaJ framework of design research. Second, the application methods of Ethnography is demonstrated through the concrete case study of developing a new microwave oven. This second part was composed of three sub-sections, which are an introduction of conducting process of ethnographic deisgn research, a description of analyzed data of kitchen culture and various particularities of usage pattem of microwave oven, and finally, a discussion of the efficiency of ethnography through generating design implications for a new microwave oven. This demonstration of case study suggests the concrete idea of how to adapt ethnography to design research and will contribute to increase more effective ethnographic design research in the future.c design research in the future.

The Didactical Organization of Mathematical Function in Korean Mathematics Textbooks: From the Perspective of Yungbokhap Education (2009년 개정 교육과정에 따른 중학교 1학년 수학교과서의 함수 단원 학습과제 분석: 융복합목표.방식.맥락에서의 접근)

  • In this paper, we adapted the frame by Lee et al (2013) to investigate to what extent the Korean mathematics textbooks for the 7th graders adapt the principles of Yungbokhap education. The analysis suggests that the textbooks mostly adapt the competence to use language, symbols and texts interactively, and to use knowledge and information interactively. Among the competencies for interacting in heterogeneous groups, the textbooks included the competences to related well to others and to cooperatively work in teams. The competence for acting autonomously was least adapted in the textbooks. The most tasks in the textbooks adapted the monodisciplinary integration and the personal contexts for integration. The results of this research show that Korean mathematics textbooks are limited in implementing the principal dimensions of Yungbokhap education. In the future development of mathematics textbooks, it is necessary to consider how to further reflect the various dimensions of Yungbokhap education to promote students' creativity and autonomy in mathematics class.

A Study of the Korean Family Life and Marriage Motives, Support, and Experience of Cambodian Marriage Immigrants and their Husbands (캄보디아 결혼이주여성 부부의 결혼동기와 한국가정생활 경험 및 지원에 관한 사례연구)

  • This study aims to identify the motives of Cambodian marriage immigrants and their spouses in order to determine the factors that are needed for them to experience a successful marriage and a happy family life in Korea. This study's findings have been achieved through in-depth interviews with 10 married Cambodian female marriage immigrants and nine of the women's husbands. The following factors play a key role. First, the social environment in Cambodia is generally less developed than it is in Korea. Therefore, the immigrants tend to easily adapt to the advanced culture they encounter in Korea. Second, the patriarchal culture in Korea seems to be changing. Thus, Korean females are more respected now than they have been in the past. The Korean mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law appreciate their daughters-in-law and are trying to be more caring rather than treating them with prejudice that, in the past, had been leveled against foreigners. These factors help the Cambodian immigrants adapt to the Korean culture. Third, multicultural family support centers have become the place where these marriage immigrants learn about Korean culture and socialize with other immigrants. The husbands of these women actively participate in marriage counseling and family counseling, and they are also willing to understand the complexity of a multicultural society and the importance of family.

  • Noise estimation and detection algorithm to adapt quickly to changing noise environment using the LMS Filter. However, the LMS Filter for noise estimation for a certain period of time and need time to adapt. If the signal changes occur, have the disadvantage of being more adaptive time-consuming. Therefore, noise removal method is proposed to a frame basis AELMS Filter to compensate. In this paper, we split the input signal on a frame basis in noisy environments. Remove the LMS Filter by configuring noise predictions using the mean and variance. Noise, even if the environment changes fast adaptation time to remove the noise. Remove noise and environmental noise and speech input signal is mixed to maintain the unique characteristics of the voice is a way to reduce the damage of voice information. Noise removal method using a frame basis AELMS Filter To evaluate the performance of the noise removal. Experimental results, the attenuation obtained by removing the noise of the changing environment was improved by an average of 6.8dB.

An Effect of a Group Art Treatment Program on Isolated Children's Self-Concept and Adaptation to the School Life in Elementary School (집단미술치료프로그램이 초등학교 고립아동의 자아개념 및 학교생활적응에 미치는 효과)

  • This study aimed at examining an effect of a group art treatment program on isolated children's self-concept and adaptation to the school life in an elementary school. To achieve this goal, the two hypotheses were made. Hypothesis 1. Children in the experimental group that participated in the group art treatment program will show more improvement in self-concept than those in the control group. Hypothesis 2. Children in the experimental group that participated in the group art treatment program will show more improvement in the ability to adapt themselves to the school life than those in the control group. To test the hypotheses, the socio-emotional isolation test developed by Heo Seung-hi (1993) was carried out with 120 third-graders at K elementary school in Busan; then, 24 isolated children (12 boys and 12 girls) at the upper 25 percent level were randomly sampled and assigned to each of experimental and control groups. The five-stage art treatment program as a reconstruction of the prior study to meet the goal of this study was provided to children in the experimental group at the researcher's classroom after school for 13 sessions, two sessions per week. The self-concept test manufactured by Song In-seop (1996), the school life adaptation test developed by Lee Yeong-seon (1997), and the experimental group's school life drawing (KSD) were used to test an effect of the program. For data analysis, two methods, a quantitative analysis of two tests and a qualitative analysis of KSD, were used. The findings were as follows: After implementing the art treatment program with the experimental group, there was significant improvement in all areas. This study concluded that if a group art treatment program is applied to elementary school practice, it will help isolated children improve their self-concept and ability to adapt themselves to the school life.

  • The ability to use and utilize information technology devices in the knowledge-based society shows many differences in terms of quality of life. However, in the case of the elderly, the elderly suffer difficulties in acquiring information technology due to their aging characteristics, so they can not easily adapt to rapidly changing societies. Therefore, it is becoming more and more important to educate the elderly who are trying to adapt to the new environment of knowledge-based society. Therefore, in this study, we analyzed the previous researches of the researchers related to the elderly informatization education and the report of the actual situation of the digital divide of the government, and identified the problems and suggested ways to activate the effective education for the aged. The following suggestions are made to activate information education. First, there is a need for systematic promotion and professional counseling on the need for information education for the elderly learners. Second, the development of various curriculum that can be used in real life. Third, development of customized learning materials. etc. Fourth, Obtain a professional lecturer for the elderly. It is limited to lecturers who have completed teaching and learning methods that reflect the characteristics of the elderly. Fifth, the introduction of qualification certification system that can measure the level of informatization of the elderly learners. Sixth, building e-learning system for elderly people. Seventh, to establish a new organization dedicated solely to information education for the elderly. When these parts are realized, it will help elderly people to improve their quality of life through alleviation of solitude and alienation.

MHP-based SCORM Contents Trans-Coding System for DiTV Service (DiTV 서비스를 위한 MHP 기반의 SCORM 콘텐츠 트랜스코딩 시스템)

  • Recently, digital convergence, whose core demand is OSMU (One Sourse Multi Use),has been the main topic in e-learning domain and industry. However, the existing web learning content and the new resource developed toprovide contents to different learning environment must be processed to adapt the new learning settings, which causes the cost and time problem, So in this paper we design and implement a Java based SCORM content transcoding system which can transcode the SCORM-based learning content into MHP-based DiTV content in order to adapt t-learning environment using DiTV, which is closer to our real life. Using this system which has ability of inter-operation, reuse, highly-use, the problem mentioned above can be solved well. Moreover, it is possible for a learner who is not familiar with computer to study using DiTV instead of PC.
