Suitable for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communications, the joint beamforming space-time block coding (JBSTBC) scheme is proposed for high-speed downlink transmission. The major functionality of the scheme entails space-time block encoder and joint transmit and receive eigen-beamformer (EBF) incorporating with block-ordered layered decoder (BOLD), and its operating principle is described in this paper. Within these functionalities, the joint EBFs will be utilized for decorrelating fading channels to cause an enhancement in the spatial diversity gain. Furthermore, to fortify the capability of layered successive interference cancellation (LSIC) in block-ordered layered decoding process, this paper will develop a simple ad-hoc transmit power discrimination scheme (TPDS) based on a particular power discrimination function (PDF). To confirm the superior behavior of the proposed JBSTBC scheme employing ad-hoc TPDS, computer simulations will be conducted under various channel conditions with the provision of detailed mathematical derivations for clarifying its functionality.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an irreversible, progressive brain disorder that is characterized by dementia. Amounts of p25 and cdk5 kinase activity are specifically upregulated in AD patient's brain samples. Considerable evidence now points importance of p25/cdk5 in generation of A$\beta$ peptides and hyperphosphorylation of tau linking amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles, two major pathological hallmarks of AD. We demonstrated that P25/CDK5 phosphorylates BACE1, the first step protease to produce A$\beta$. P25/CDK5 inhibitors to reduce BACE1 phosphorylation and the secretion of A$\beta$ are screened through in silica, in vitro, and cell-based assays. Out of 4.3 million chemicals we finally selected two compounds to have IC50 of 10 microM in cell-based assays. The inhibitors block Tau phosphrorylation as well as BACE1 phosphorylation. In conclusion P25 should be one of the best targets for AD therapeutics.
To investigate the effects of feeding restricted on growth, carcass characteristics and plasma profiles in an attempt for optimum responses, a total of 108 cross-bred finishing barrows [(Landrace${\times}$Yorkshire)${\times}$Duroc]weighing an average of $46.88{\pm}0.52kg$ were assigned in a randomized complete block (RCB) design to one of four treatments with three replicates and nine pigs per pen. Feeding regimens were, 1) ad libitum from 50 kg to market weight (Ad 3/3), 2) restricted feeding from 90 kg to market weight (Ad 2/3), 3) restricted feeding from 70 kg to market weight (Ad 1/3), and 4) restricted feeding from 50 kg to market weight (Ad 0/3). During the experimental period, average daily feed intake (ADFI) was decreased from 2.53 kg (AD 3/3) to 2.09 kg (AD 0/3) with increasing restricted feeding duration of (p<0.05). Average daily gain (ADG) of AD 3/3 (0.79 kg) was significantly higher (p<0.05) than those of AD 1/3 (0.74 kg) or AD 0/3 (0.72 kg). Feed efficiency was not influenced by restriction regimens. Blood IGF-I concentrations were increased from 74.14 to 134.25 (167.36-115.66) ng/ml as body weight increased. Blood leptin concentrations were affected by feed intake level and coincided with blood IGF-I concentrations. Most of carcass characteristics were not significantly affected by restricted feeding, however cooking losses in AD 1/3 and Ad 0/3 treatment diet were higher than those in Ad 3/3 and Ad 2/3. In addition, there was a trend that backfat thickness was lowered in proportional to decreasing feed intake (p>0.05). In conclusion, restricted feeding improved feed efficiency after 50 kg body weight without deteriorating the pork quality of barrows.
Sixtyfour Baluchi lambs about 5 months of age were divided into four groups with 16 lambs each. All the animals were grazed together. Group No.1 (G-1) was kept as control i.e. on grazing only; while group No. 2 (G-2) was offered barley grain @ 200 g/head/day as supplement to grazing; Group No. 3 (G-3) was offered ad-lib urea-molasses block (UMB) with 6% cement and group No.4 (G-4) was fed ad-lib IMB having 8% cement. These UMB were fed as supplement to grazing. Experiment lasted for 105 days (July to October) in arid zone of Baluchistan. Daily per head consumption of block No.1 was found to be 92.71 g; while that of block No.2 was observed to be 90.77 g. Growth rate (g/head/day) was found to be 10, 50, 33 and 15 in G-1, G-2, G-3 and G-4 respectively. Expenditure/kg bodyweight gain was found to be rupees 12.00, 3.64 and 7.74 for G-2, G-3 and G-4 respectively.

The purpose of this study was to use fiber-optic nasolaryngoscope to find out differences in laryngeal behavior between persons who stutter(PS) and those who do not stutter(NS) upon their utterance. To meet the goal above, this study took 5 NS and 5 PS respectively as a part of sampling, so that they were all asked to join an experiment hereof. As a result, this study came to the following findings: First, there was not any significant difference in laryngeal behavior of uttering spoken languages between stuttering group and control. Second, there were some differences in laryngeal behavior of repetition and prolongation, which were a sort of disfluency revealed in the utterance of nonfluent spoken languages between stuttering group and control. Third, as reported by prior studies, it was found that there were differences in laryngeal abehavior of stutterer group's nonfluent spoken languages depending upon stuttering types. In this study, a variety of laryngeal behavior unreported in prior studies could be found. In addition, it was notable that stutterers showed different laryngeal behavior depending on their personal stuttering types. On block condition, Subject 1 showed laryngeal behavior of fAB, INT and fAD; Subject 2 showed laryngeal behavior of fAB, fAD and rAD; Subject 3 showed laryngeal behavior of fAD and rAD; Subject 4 showed only laryngeal behavior of fAD; and Subejct 5 showed laryngeal behavior of fAB, fAD and rAD. Summing up, these findings imply that when stutterers utter nonfluent words, they may reveal a variety of laryngeal behavior depending on their personal stuttering types. Moreover, it is found that there are more or less differences in the utterance of nonfluent spoken languages between NS and stuttering ones. In particular, it is interesting that one common trait of nonfluent spoken languages uttered by PS is evidently excessive laryngeal stress, no matter which type of stuttering they reveal.
Adiponectin, a hormone produced by adipose tissue, is very abundant in plasma, and its anti- and pro-inflammatory effects are reported. However, the mechanisms of these pro- and anti-inflammatory effects are not fully defined. Herein, we evaluated the dual inflammatory response mechanism of adiponectin in macrophages. Short-term globular adiponectin (gAd) treatment induced $I{\kappa}B{\alpha}$ degradation, $NF-{\kappa}B$ nuclear translocation, and $TNF-{\alpha}$ production in RAW 264.7 cells. Polymyxin B pretreatment did not block gAd-induced $I{\kappa}B{\alpha}$ degradation, and heated gAd was unable to degrade $I{\kappa}B{\alpha}$, suggesting that the effects of gAd were not due to endotoxin contamination. gAd activated IKK and Akt, and inhibition of either IKK or Akt by dominant-negative $IKK{\beta}$ ($DN-IKK{\beta}$) or DN-Akt overexpression blocked gAd-induced $I{\kappa}B{\alpha}$ degradation, suggesting that short-term incubation with gAd mediates inflammatory responses by activating the $I{\kappa}B/NF-{\kappa}B$ and PI3K/Akt pathways. Contrastingly, long-term stimulation with gAd induced, upon subsequent stimulation, tolerance to gAd, lipopolysaccharide, and CpG-oligodeoxynucleotide, which is associated with gAd-induced downregulation of IL-receptor-associated kinase-1 (IRAK-1) due to IRAK-1 transcriptional repression. Conclusively, our findings demonstrate that the pro- and anti-inflammatory responses to gAd in innate immune cells are time-dependent, and mediated by the activation of the $I{\kappa}B/NF-{\kappa}B$ pathway, and IRAK-1 downregulation, respectively.

Ocher block has started to be studied recently as a new environment friendly alternative building material. This article investigates the use of Rice Husk Ask (RHA) as an additive to improve properties of the ocher block. Ocher mixtures incorporating various proportions of RHA were compared. Compressive strength at various ages of these ocher blocks was evaluated ad the resistance to wet environment was also examined. These test result help to determine the effect of RHA on such properties of the ocher block as compaction, mix proportion, compressive strength and water absorption indexes. Based on these results, the new alternative building material and low cost construction techniques might be developed through more intensive research efforts.
The purpose of this study was to provide dress forms and jacket blocks for adult males based on the analysis of their somatotypes. As the result of the research conducted for this study that was based on 1290 males of 20 to 54 years-old, the shapes of adult male were 20 and each body shape was classified by size factor, height and chest girth. Also, master sizes were selected considering appearance frequency. XS type (master size: height 165cm and chest circumference 88cm), Yd type (master size: height 170cm and chest circumference 91cm), YI and AD2 types (master size: height 170cm and chest circumference 94cm) were selected to develop dress forms and their jacket blocks in this study. The procedure and results were follows; 1. The dress forms of XS, Yd, YI and AD2 types were produced base on means of 61 body measurements and cross sections of shoulder, chest, waist, hip of subjects belong to each somatotype. 2. New jacket blocks for XS, Yd, YI and AD2 types were developed based on the body surface developments through draping and the results of comparative investigation on the existing jacket blocks by wearing test. Also the drafting methods of new jacket blocks were provided. 3. The sensory evaluation by wearing test showed that the developed jacket blocks were estimated more highly in terms of chest's allowance, the front width's allowance, neck wrinkle, front allowance and overall appearance's fitness items than existing jacket blocks.
