This paper has proposedfor wireless Ad-hoc networks with robust route maintenance schemes. The device feature Bluetooth and/or IEEE 802.11 network interfaces and communicate in a decentralized manner. The nodes have the responsibility of self-organizing so that the network is robust to the variations in network topology due to node mobility as well as the fluctuations of the signal quality in the wireless environment.

In this paper, we propose a Cross-Layer Transmission Architecture (CLTA) to support power saving high-speed multimedia services in mobile ad-hoc wireless sensor networks(MAWSN). The main goals of this paper are in showing and proposing how the routing routes are decided on route stability based on mobility of mobile nodes to increase the operational lifetime of routes as well as how the transmit power can be saved in mobile ad-hoc wireless sensor networks. To obtain these goals, we propose a cross-layer architecture strategy which combines network layer technology with physical layer technology to get synergy effects in the view of transmission power saving. We consider a realistic approach, in the points of view of the MAWSN, based on mobile sensor nodes as well as fixed sensor nodes in sensor fields while the conventional research for sensor networks focus on mainly fixed sensor nodes. The performance evaluation of the proposed CLTA is performed via simulation and analysis.

In this paper, we propose an effective multicasting protocol in wireless ad-hoc networks. Conventional wired and wireless network multicast protocols do not perform well in wireless ad hoc networks because they were designed without consideration of ad hoc environments such as node mobility, limited bandwidth, high error probability. To solve this problem, some multicasting protocols for ad hoc network have been proposed in the literature. However, these protocols can not provide high packet delivery ratio, low control packet overhead and low expended bandwidth at the same time. Therefore, in this paper, we propose RTMA that improves multicasting performance in wireless ad hoc networks. RTMA calculates its current region from its position information by using GPS in order to make tree among the multicast group nodes in the same region. The proposed region-based tree method is for high packet delivery ratio, low control packet overhead when many senders send data packets. RTMA makes a reliable tree by using speed information to fill a gap of the weak points of the tree structure. When searching the routing path, RTMA selects the reliable path excluding high speed nodes.
Multicast data communication is an efficient communication scheme, especially inmulti-hop ad hoc networks where the media access control (MAC) layer is based on one-hop broadcast from one source to multiple receivers. Compared to unicast, multicast over a wireless channel should be able to deal with varying channel conditions of multiple users and user mobility to provide good quality to all users. IEEE 802.11 does not support reliable multicast owing to its inability to exchange request-to-send/clear-to-send and acknowledgement packets with multiple recipients. Thus, several MAC layer protocols have been proposed to provide reliable multicast. However, additional overhead is introduced, as a result, which degrades the system performance. In this paper, we propose an efficient wireless multicast MAC protocol with small control overhead required for reliable multicast in multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks. We present analytical formulations of the system throughput and delay associated with the overhead.

In mobile ad hoc networks(MANETs), each node rebroadcast received route request packets for route discovery. Flooding from large number of nodes induces the broadcast storm problem which causes severe degradation in network performance due to redundant retransmission, collision and contention. This paper presents a node status algorithm based on probabilistic scheme to alleviate the broadcast storm problem for wireless ad hoc networks.

Location services are used in mobile ad hoc and hybrid networks to locate either the geographic position of a given node in the network or a data item. One of the main usages of position location services is presented in location based routing algorithms. In particular, geographic routing protocols can route messages more efficiently to their destinations based on the destination node's geographic position, which is provided by a location service. In this paper, we propose an adaptive location service on the basis of fuzzy logic called FHLS (Fuzzy Hierarchical Location Service) for mobile ad hoc networks. The adaptive location update scheme using the fuzzy logic on the basis of the mobility and the call preference of mobile nodes is used by the FHLS. The performance of the FHLS is to be evaluated by a simulation, and compared with that of existing HLS scheme.

Networks in Mobile ad hoc contain distribution and do not have a predefined structure which practically means that network modes can play the role of being clients or servers. The routing protocols used in mobile Ad-hoc networks (MANETs) are characterized by limited bandwidth, mobility, limited power supply, and routing protocols. Hybrid routing protocols solve the delay problem of reactive routing protocols and the routing overhead of proactive routing protocols. The Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm is used to solve other real-life problems such as the travelling salesman problem, capacity planning, and the vehicle routing challenge. Bio-inspired methods have probed lethal in helping to solve the problem domains in these networks. Hybrid routing protocols combine the distance vector routing protocol (DVRP) and the link-state routing protocol (LSRP) to solve the routing problem.

Ad hoc wireless networks operate without any infrastructure where a node can be a source and a router at the same time. This indispensably requires high throughput and low delay performance throughout the wireless network coverage span, particularly under heavy traffic conditions. Recent research on using multiple antennas in beam-forming or multiplexing modes over a wireless channel has shown promising results in terms of high throughput and low delay. Directional antennas have shown to increase spatial reuse by allowing multiple transmitters and receivers to communicate using. directional beams as long as they do not significantly interfere with each other. However directional antenna performance asymptotically approaches the omni-directional performance in a high density ad hoc network. Simulation results in QualNet validate that average throughput and packet corruption ratio of directional antenna approach omni-directional performance. Moreover, we further highlight some important issues pertaining to the directional antenna performance in wireless networks.

This paper covers the issue of securing ad hoc networks. Such networks exhibit a number of characteristics that make such a task challenging. One of the major challenges is that ad hoc networks typically lack a fixed infrastructure both in form of physical infrastructure such as routers, servers, and stable communication links and in the form of an organizational or administrative infrastructure. Another difficulty lies in the highly dynamic nature of ad hoc networks since new nodes can join and leave the network at any time. The major problem in providing security services in such infrastructure less networks is how to manage the cryptographic keys that are needed. In order to design practical and efficient key management systems it is necessary to understand the characteristics of ad hoc networks and why traditional key management systems cannot be used. These issues are covered and we also present a new efficient key management solutions. Finally we show that the proposed method is more efficient than the previous works through simulations.

n a hybrid ad-hoc network, wired network and a mobile ad-hoc network are connected by the internet gateway. To provide seamless service for internet users in the hybrid ad-hoc network, an efficient internet gateway selection technique and a fast handover technique are needed. In this paper, we propose a seamless handoff technique for providing mobility of mobile hosts in hybrid ad-hoc networks. The proposed internet gateway re-registration algorithm improves general handoff performance. Moreover, the handoff processing time within certain range of area is reduced by using mobility management agent(MMA). In addition the packet loss is reduced when handoff occurs out of the range of MMA by tunneling technique.
