  • Welding is a significant part of the construction industry. Since most high-rise building construction structures rely on a robust metal frame welded together, welding defect can damage welded structures and is critical to safety and quality. Despite its importance and heavy usage in construction, the labor shortage of welders has been a continuous challenge to the construction industry. To deal with the labor shortage, the ultimate goal of this study is to design and develop an automated robotic welding system composed of a welding machine, unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), robotic arm, and visual sensors. This paper proposes and focuses on automated weaving using the robotic arm. For automated welding operation, a microcontroller is used to control the switch and is added to a welding torch by physically modifying the hardware. Varying weave patterns are mathematically programmed. The automated weaving is tested using a brush pen and a ballpoint pen to clearly see the patterns and detect any changes in vertical forces by the arm during weaving. The results show that the weave patterns have sufficiently high consistency and precision to be used in the actual welding. Lastly, actual welding was performed, and the results are presented.

  • Drought is a reoccurring worldwide natural hazard that affects not only food production but also economics, health, and infrastructure. Drought monitoring is usually performed with precipitation-based indices without consideration of the actual state and amount of the land surface properties. A drought index based on the actual evapotranspiration can overcome these shortcomings. The severity of a drought can be quantified by making a spatial map. The procedure for estimating actual evapotranspiration is costly and complicated, and requires land surface information. The possibility of utilizing drone-driven remotely sensed data for actual evapotranspiration estimation was analyzed in this study. A drone collected data was used to calculate the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and soil-adjusted vegetation index (SAVI). The spatial resolution was 10 m with a grid of $404{\times}395$. The collected data were applied and parameterized to an actual evapotranspiration estimation. The result shows that drone-based data is useful for estimating actual evapotranspiration and the corresponding drought indices.

  • Reaching fault tolerance in technological systems requires to detect malfunctions. This paper presents a diagnostic method that is robust with respect to unknown-but-bounded uncertainties of the dynamical model and the measurements. By using models of the faultless and the faulty behaviours, a state-set observer computes polyhedral sets from which the consistency of the models with the interval measurements is determined. The diagnostic result is proven to be complete, i.e., the set of faults obtained by the diagnostic algorithm includes the actual fault. The algorithm is illustrated by an application example.

  • This paper intends to compare and illustrate the feedback effects of the state feedback scheme to a positional control system by the use of the state observer. As a case study, the dynamic properties of a proposed positional control system lie derived, first, and the design of an optimal state feedback control system by the actual states is intended as a primary case study. For the illustration of the feedback effects with the asymptotic state observer, unobservability of some state variables are assumed and an optimal state feedback design is carried by using the estimated states which is reconstructed through the observer. That is, when some of the states of the system to be controlled are not avalable, an observer is constructed to estimate the unaccessable states. Adigital computer is used for the comparative study of the feedback effects in both cases. The resultant response of the proposed system have shown quite reasonable satisfaction oncontrol quality.

  • Systematic design of a controller for a water temperature system was considered, with the intention of devising an accurate control experiment. The results of an experiment using a water temperature system based on the pole placement regulator showed water temperature oscillation and steady state error. This paper proposed a. method for eliminating both the oscillation and the steady state error. The oscillation was eliminated by a drive delay compensation technique, in which a future state value of the system was predicted through a real time computer simulation. The steady state error was eliminated by an steady state error correction technique, in which an actual steady state heatrate in the system model was replaced by an imaginary heatrate. By combining these two techniques, we obtained an experimental result for water temperature control of 0.01 (.deg. C) accuracy. Furthermore, the proposed method was evaluated relatively by comparing the experimental results using several other methods and proved to be the most accurate and convenient control method for the delay system.

  • This study reports on the use of the trait and state cognitive/metacognitive strategy use and the difference of the trait/state strategy use according to students' proficiency level. First of all, for checking up the trait strategy use, 119 first-grade male students in a high school completed the questionnaire on strategies which they thought they used during a reading test. Secondly, to find out their state strategy use, students took a fifteen-item reading comprehension test, followed by filling out questionnaires on cognitive and metacognitive strategies used in the test. This study employed quantitative data analysis. The results suggested that (1) the cognitive and metacognitive strategy use in the trait and state conditions are used the most by the high proficiency group and they are correlated respectively; (2) these strategies are used with statistically significant difference according to students' proficiency level, especially to the lower level students. The highly successful group uses the cognitive and metacognitive strategy in the actual test situation more than the lower proficient group; there is no difference in trait and state strategy use.

  • This study intends to investigate the actual state and problems of Outlet, and the research consumer's perception of Outlet. It affords a effective way to get rid of inventories for manufacture and to economize and rational buying for consumer. Ultimately trying to find a effective managing method of Outlet for both manufacturers and consumers. The result about research the actual sate of Outlet, there are affluent assortment, generous amount of merchandise and high discount rate in Kuro-dong Outlet stores, but stores' location is scattered that makes shopping environment inconvenient. It is not good condition of assortment, quantity and freshness of merchandise in Mungung-dong Outlet stores, but close proximity between stores and fancy shopping place make convenient shopping possible. Multi-discount stores dilute the fundumental of Qutlet with poor quantity and assortment of merchandise make man choices possible for consumer, but discount rate is lower for high management cost. The result about research the consumer's perception of Outlet shows that consumer have enough interest in Outlet, and intention to continue shopping in Outlet. Therefore we can expect continuous growth of Outlet. Also consumer is satisfied with price and quality of merchandise, but they are not satisfied with assortment of merchandise, expecially poorness in sizes.

  • This paper is proposed for a artificial neural network(ANN) sensorless control based on the vector controlled induction motor drive, or proposes a adaptive fuzzy teaming control(AFLC). The fuzzy logic principle is first utilized for the control rotor speed. AFLC scheme is then proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed using fuzzy logic. Also, this paper is proposed for a method of the estimation of speed of induction motor using ANN Controller. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The error between the desired state variable and the actual one is back-propagated to adjust the rotor speed, so that the actual state variable coincide with the desired one. The back propagation mechanism is easy to derive and the estimated speed tracks precisely the actual motor speed. This paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the new method.

  • As the model of most practical system cannot be obtained, the practice of typical control method is limited. Accordingly, numerous artificial intelligence control methods have been used widely. Fuzzy control and neural network control have been an important point in the developing process of the field. This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy-neural network based on the vector controlled interior permanent magnet synchronous motor drive system. The fuzzy-neural network is first utilized for the speed control. A model reference adaptive scheme is then proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed using fuzzy-neural network. Also, this paper is proposed estimation of speed of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor using artificial neural network controller. The back-propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The error between the desired state variable and the actual one is back-propagated to adjust the rotor speed, so that the actual state variable will coincide with the desired one.
