A Study on Durability Characteristics of Automobile Clutch Diaphragm Spring Steel According to Heat-Treatment Condition (자동차 클러치용 다이아프램 스프링 강(50CrV4)의 열처리 조건에 따른 내구특성에 관한 연구)

  • An automobile clutch diaphragm spring is operating in a closed clutch housing under high temperature and subject to high stress concentration in driving condition, which frequently causes cracks and fracture. The material of spring is required to possess sufficient fatigue strength and tenacity, which depend largely on the condition of tempering heat treatment. In this paper, specimens are made under a number of different tempering temperatures md tested to find the optimal tempering heat treatment condition. The experiments include the verification of microscopic structure, hardness, tensile strength, fatigue crack growth rate, stress intensity factor range and residual stress. Also, decarbonization, which occurs in actual heat treatment process, is measured and allowable decarbonization depth is studied by durability test.

  • In order to investigate the relationship between the stiffness and structure of the automotive roof panels, two kinds of glass fiber reinforced plastic(GFRP) roof panels without and with insert material were fabricated by resin transfer molding(RTM) method. The stiffness test was performed at the same condition as it of actual driving. The structural design and material selection for improving the recyclability of GFRP roof panels were also covered.

  • This paper presents the practical pressure control of hydraulic oil-pump system using SR drive for industrial application. In order to get a high performance of pressure dynamics in actual application, a data based PID control scheme is proposed in this paper.   • PURPOSES : The use of virtual driving tests to determine actual road driving behavior is increasing. However, the results indicate a gap between real and virtual driving under same road conditions road based on ergonomic factors, such as anxiety and speed. In the future, the use of virtual driving tests is expected to increase. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to analyze the gap between real and virtual driving on same road conditions and to use a calibration formula to allow for higher reliability of virtual driving tests. METHODS : An intelligent driving recorder was used to capture real driving. A driving simulator was used to record virtual driving. Additionally, a virtual driving map was made with the UC-Win/Road software. We gathered data including geometric structure information, driving information, driver information, and road operation information for real driving and virtual driving on the same road conditions. In this study we investigated a range of gaps, driving speeds, and lateral positions, and introduced a calibration formula to the virtual record to achieve the same record as the real driving situation by applying the effects of the main causes of discrepancy between the two (driving speed and lateral position) using a linear regression model. RESULTS: In the virtual driving test, driving speed and lateral position were determined to be higher and bigger than in the real Driving test, respectively. Additionally, the virtual driving test reduces the concentration, anxiety, and reality when compared to the real driving test. The formula includes four variables to produce the calibration: tangent driving speed, curve driving speed, tangent lateral position, and curve lateral position. However, the tangent lateral position was excluded because it was not statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS: The results of analyzing the formula from MPB (mean prediction bias), MAD (mean absolute deviation) is after applying the formula to the virtual driving test, similar to the real driving test so that the formula works. Because this study was conducted on a national, two-way road, the road speed limit was 80 km/h, and the lane width was 3.0-3.5 m. It works in the same condition road restrictively.

  • The C-ITS requires the lane level positioning of the vehicle in the land transportation environment, and it is most effective to utilize the global navigation satellite system. In the precision positioning system based on satellite navigation, the evaluation of dynamic environment of lane level positioning performance should be accompanied and the evaluation system configuration should be preceded. In addition, performance analysis must be performed according to various environments that change according to traffic or road conditions in a dynamic environment. In this paper, we describe with the performance of traffic and road environment through the evaluation system of lane positioning precision positioning user system based on satellite navigation system. The numerical performance evaluation was carried out based on the data collected by carrying out the actual driving. The performance evaluation by the actual driving trajectory and driving image comparison was performed to derive and analyse evaluation results of positioning performance according to driving condition.

A Study on Torsional Characteristics of the Car Body Types at Cornering Motion (선회주행 시 차체의 비틀림 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Elastic deformation and fatigue damage can cause the permanent deformation of a kart's frame during turning, affecting the kart's driving performance. A kart's frame does not contain any suspension or differential devices and, therefore, the dynamic behavior caused by torsional deformation when driving along a curve can strongly affect these two kinds of deformations. To analyze the dynamic behavior of a kart along a curved section, the GPS trajectory of the kart is obtained and the torsional stress acting on the kart-frame is measured in real time. The mechanical properties of leisure and racing karts are investigated by analyzing their material properties and conducting a tensile test. The torsional stress concentration and frame distortion are investigated through a stress analysis of the frame on the basis of the obtained results. Leisure and racing karts are tested in each driving condition using driving analysis equipment. The behavior of a kart when being driven along a curved section is investigated through this test. Because load movement occurs owing to centrifugal force when driving along a curve, torsional stress acts on the kart's steel frame. In the case of a leisure kart, the maximum torsional stress derived from the torsional fatigue limit was found to be 230 MPa, and the torsional fatigue limit coefficient was 0.65 when driving at a speed of 40 km/h. Furthermore, the driving elements during the cornering of a kart were measured based on an actual auto-test after installing a driving measurement system, and the driving behavior of the kart was analyzed by measuring its vertical displacement.

Shift Control Strategy for Electric Controlled CVT Vehicle (전자 제어 CVT 차량의 변속제어전략)

  • In this paper, static and dynamic shift control stategies of CVT speed ratio are suggested. For the static shift control, in order to operate engine on the optimal operating region, a fuzzy control logic is used. In the fuzzy logic, S- factor that is defined as a degree of sportiness is introduced. Simulation results show that the static shift control strategy based on the fuzzy logic selects the optimal operating point automatically between the economy and the sporty mode corresponding to the driver's desire and the driving condition. For the dynamic shift control strategy, a shift speed map is suggested which determines the shift sped as fast or slow based on Δi, the difference between the desired speed ratio id and the actual speed ratio i, and throttle opening. It is seen from the simulation results that the CVT shift speed is determined by the dynamic shift control strategy to provide appropriate performance and comfort for the driver's demand and driving condition. Additionally, experiments are performed to investigate the dynamic performance of the shift speed for the lift foot up. From the experimental results, it is found that improved shift feeling can be obtained by the dynamic shift control strategy when lift foot up occurs.
