일어서기 동작에 대한 동작관찰과 동기화된 전기적 감각자극의 통합적 제공이 뇌졸중 환자의 기능에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Integrated Provision Action Observation and Synchronized Electrical Sensory Stimulation for Sit-to-stand in Stroke Patients Function)

  • Background: Stroke patients experience multiple dysfunctions that include motor and sensory impairments. Therefore, new intervention methods require a gradational approach depending on functional levels of a stroke patient's activity and should include cognition treatment to allow for a patient's active participation in rehabilitation. Objects: This study investigates the effect of integrated revision of electrical sensory stimulation, which stimulates somatosensory and action observation training, which is synchronized cognition intervention method on stroke patients' functions. Methods: Twenty-one stroke patients were randomized into two groups. The two groups underwent twenty minutes of intervention five times a week for three weeks. This study used an electromyogram to evaluate symmetric muscle activation of lower extremities and muscle onset time when performing sit to stand before and after intervention. A weight-bearing ratio was used to evaluate the weight-bearing of the affected side in a sit to standing. To evaluate sit to stand performance ability, this study performed five timed sit to stand tests. Results: The two groups both showed statistically significant improvement in muscle onset time of lower extremity, static balance ability in a standing position, and sit to stand performance after the intervention (p < 0.05). In addition, the action observation and synchronized electrical sensory stimulation group showed significant improvement in symmetric muscle activation of lower extremities and weight-bearing ratio of the affected side (p < 0.05). Conclusion: action observation and synchronized electrical sensory stimulation (AOT with ESS) can have positive effects on a stroke patient's sit to stand performance, and the intervention method that provides integrated AOT with ESS can be used as new nervous system intervention program.

현행 전국과학전람회의 실태 및 개선방안에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Status and Improvements of the National Science Fairs)

  • The National Science Fairs has been held in every year for the promotion of science and technology and scientific civil life. The purpose of this study is to survey the current problems in National Science Fairs by making up a question and to improve them. The study makes up a questionnaires about the existing Science Fairs to the teachers who have submitted their works to the Science Fairs and suggest the ways of improvement. The result of questionnaires is that little availability of reference materials, difficulty of paying proper attention to regular classes because of frequent travels, and absence of experimental devices and experimental rooms are perceived as major obstacles in preparing for the exhibition. Respondents teacher also pointed out some problems with the current organization of the exhibition; non-voluntary selection process for the potential authors, separation of research content from regular teaching materials, unrealistically high standard, low participation rate of teachers, so many exhibited works, lack of professionalism in the screening process. The majority however, agreed that the exhibition event should be continuously done, after remedial measures have been taken about the problems. First, the side of science education is emphasized in a purpose of the science fairs to let activity related to science fair be closely connected with school education. Second, students have to be divided according to grade. Third, research level have to be set not too higher than regular instruction content. Fourth, hand book related to science fairs have to be manufactured and spread. Fifth, data of local science fair have to be arranged. Sixth, judging section have to be subdivided and people related to science education have to be included to a judge. Seventh, excellent works have to be support to participate in ISEF.

ICT 산업의 여성인력 고용확대 방안 (A Study on the Plan of Creating Jobs for Women in the ICT Industry)

  • 최근 정부는 '창조경제(Creative Economy)'를 통하여 상상력과 창의성, 과학기술에 기반한 경제 운용, 새로운 시장, 새로운 일자리 창출을 목표로 하고 있다. 이는 또한 과학기술과 ICT, 문화, 인문학 등이 융합하여 산업간 경계부분에서 창조경제의 성과를 이룩할 수 있다는 것이 선진국의 창조경제 벤치마킹에서 증명되고 있다. 특히, 여성 과학기술인이 창조형 선진국의 사례를 보면 중요한 역할을 수행하고 있다. 하지만 한국은 여성 과학기술인이 낮은 수준이고 전문적인 여성과학기술자에 대한 적극적인 지원 및 육성정책도 미흡한 것으로 알려져 있다. 또한 경제 활동 중이던 여성들은 육아와 출산 등으로 인한 경력단절, 복귀에서 겪는 어려움 때문에 30대 초 중반 여성이 경제활동에 참여하는 비율이 적다. 창조경제를 지속적으로 발전시키기 위해서는 이를 이끌어갈 여성 과학기술인의 창조적 교육과 육성, 지원에 힘을 기울여야 한다. 따라서 본고에서는 창조경제 시대의 ICT 산업정책과 여성의 역할과 경제활동 참여 현황, 그리고 창조경제시대의 여성 일자리 창출방안과 문제점을 살펴본다.

약학대학 학생들의 교과외활동 현황 평가 및 동기에 대한 분석 (Evaluation of Pharmacy Students' Level of Involvement in Extracurricular Activities and Analysis of Their Motivations)

  • Extracurricular activities are voluntary participations that students engage in outside of classrooms. This study aimed to determine Korean pharmacy students' degree of involvement in extracurricular activities, motivations behind participation, and influences from those engagements. The study was performed as a voluntary online survey to pharmacy students in four pharmacy schools in Korea and a total of 188 students participated. Sixty-one percent and 34% of students reported that they were involved in at least one extracurricular activities in-school, and out-of-school, respectively. Areas with most involvements were arts/music/sports (73%), followed by volunteer activities (31%). Thirty two percent responded that they have been involved in research internships, followed by 15% and 10% in pharmaceutical company and community pharmacy internships, respectively. For motivations behind involvement, students indicated that their involvement was for hobby (72%) and networking (38%). In conclusion, while Korean pharmacy students actively engage in extracurricular activities, the range of activities was limited in scope, and most students were involved in extracurricular activities as hobbies rather than for career exploration. Opportunities for student involvement in various pharmacy professional organizations and internships in the pharmacy work setting would provide valuable experiences for pharmacy students in their professional development as a pharmacist.

공대 신입생들의 팀 활동 만족감과 관련 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study of Team Satisfaction and Associated Factors of Engineering College Freshmen)

  • 본 연구에서는 공대의 교과과정에서 흔히 요구되는 팀 활동에 대해 신입생들을 대상으로 팀 활동의 만족감과 관련 요인들을 분석하였다. 입문교과를 수강하는 신입생 64명을 대상으로 13개의 팀을 구성하여 총 5개의 개방형 과제를 통해 팀 활동을 수행하게 한 후 설문조사를 실시하였다. 팀 활동에 대한 전반적인 만족감은 팀의 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미침을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 팀 만족도는 팀의 성과보다는 팀원의 활동 참여도와 팀원 간의 관계가 좋다고 인식하는 정도에 더욱 상관관계가 있음을 발견하였다. 학생들은 상호 배려하는 화목한 팀 분위기가 조성될 때 팀 활동의 만족감이 증가하며, 팀의 분위기가 성과보다 중요하다고 느끼고 있었다. 한편 팀원의 역할별 구성은 팀 활동의 만족도와 직접적인 관계가 없었으며, 또한 자율적인 팀 구성에 대한 선호도가 높음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 학생들의 팀 활동 만족감이 극대화되도록 지원을 한다면 특히 최근 학제적 융복합 학습 환경에서의 팀 활동을 통한 교육적인 효과가 높아질 것으로 기대한다.

도시녹지(都市綠地) 내(內) 트레일 이용(利用)에 있어서의 편익(便益)과 문제점(問題點)에 관한 한·미간(間) 트레일 이용자(利用者) 인식(認識)의 비교(比較) 연구(硏究) (Perceived Benefits and Problems Associated with Urban Trails by South Korean and U. S. Trail Users)

  • 최근 도시녹지 내 트레일 개발에 많은 관심과 그 중요성이 인식되고 있으며, 서울, 대구를 비롯한 주요도시에 이미 다양한 형태의 수변 산책로가 조성되었다. 이러한 트레일은 녹지공간의 제공, 건강증진, 스트레스 완화 등 지역사회에 여러 가지 편익을 제공하고 있다. 미국과 유럽국가의 경우, 도시녹지 내의 트레일은 체계적으로 조성되어 이미 일반화되어 있으며, 우리나라에서의 도시 내의 트레일 개발에 있어 중요한 기초 자료로서의 활용가치가 있다고 판단된다. 본 연구는 미국과 우리나라의 트레일 이용행태 특성, 참여 활동, 경제적 편익 및 이용 편익에 대한 인식 차이를 조사하였다. 대구광역시에 위치한 3개의 트레일과 미국 시카고, 인디아나폴리스 지역 등에 위치한 4개의 서로 다른 트레일에 대한 연구결과를 토대로 이용자에 대한 인식을 비교 분석하였다. 연구결과는 미국과 한국 트레일 이용자간에는 이용에 따른 인식의 차이점이 발견되었으며, 이러한 정보는 우리나라의 그린웨이 시스템 개발을 위한 유용한 자료로 활용될 것으로 사료된다.

Bi-flavonoids are Superior to Mono-flavonoid in Inhibiting Amyloid-${\beta}$ Toxicity and Fibrillogenesis through Accumulating Nontoxic Oligomer-like Structures

  • Polymerization of monomeric amyloid-${\beta}$ peptides ($A{\beta}$) into soluble oligomers and insoluble fibrils is one of the major pathways triggering the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Using small molecules to prevent the polymerization of $A{\beta}$ peptides can, therefore, be an effective therapeutic strategy for AD. In this study, we investigated the effects of mono- and bi-flavonoids on $A{\beta}42$ toxicity and fibrillogenesis and found that the bi-flavonoid, taiwaniaflavone (TF) effectively and specifically inhibits $A{\beta}$ toxicity and fibrillogenesis. Compared to TF, the mono-flavonoid apigenin (AP) is less effective and less specific. Our data showed that differential effects of the mono- and bi-flavonoids on $A{\beta}$ fibrillogenesis correlate with their varying cytoprotective efficacies. We also found that other bi-flavonoids, namely 2',8"-biapigenin, amentoflavone, and sumaflavone, can also effectively inhibit $A{\beta}$ toxicity and fibrillogenesis, implying that the participation of two mono-flavonoids in a single bi-flavonoid molecule enhanced their activity. Bi-flavonoids, while strongly inhibited $A{\beta}$ fibrillogenesis, accumulated nontoxic $A{\beta}$ oligomeric structures, suggesting that these are off-pathway-oligomers. Moreover, TF abrogated the toxicity of preformed $A{\beta}$ oligomers and fibrils, indicating that TF and other bi-flavonoids may also reduce the toxicity of toxic $A{\beta}$ species. Altogether, our data clearly show that bi-flavonoids, possibly due to the possession of two $A{\beta}$ binders separated by an appropriate size linker, are likely to be promising therapeutics to suppress $A{\beta}$ toxicity.

GWP 구현을 위한 조직문화 증진활동의 효과 (Promoting a nursing organizational culture for Great Workplace(GWP): a Korean experience)

  • The purpose of this GWP project was two-fold:(1) to launch an organizational culture improvement for great workplace (2) to improve the perception of nursing personnel on communication and team work in a surgical nursing department of a teaching hospital in Seoul. Using one group pretest-posttest design, nursing personnel's perception on organizational culture related to communication and team work was evaluated. A 10-item, 5-point scale (1.5) survey was administered to 209 nursing personnel in January 2009 and again to 191 nursing personnel in October 2009. From January 2009, AMANNA team has taken activities focused on trust, pride, and fun. AMANNA is an abbreviation of Korean language, which means wonderful meeting and sharing in English. Monthly activities are as follows: choral concerts by nurse managers, welcome and farewell events, praising members for their services, explaining current circumstances, etc. Special activities are as follows: a New Year's greeting party, a spring picnic, beauty classes, a lecture on drug administration, cultural lectures using videos, and presentations of academic posters and another activity. The reliability of measurement was Cronbach's ${\alpha}$: 0.917(pretest), 0.954(posttest). Most nursing personnel's perception on organizational culture was improved (pretest mean=3.50 and posttest mean=3.78, p<.001). "A sense of belonging" showed the greatest improvement among the 10 items(3.18 vs. 3.56, p<.001). "Trust each other" showed the highest score (mean=3.98) in posttest. Frequency of participation and satisfaction showed a significant relationship(r=0.179, p=.021). We believe that this project has made a contribution towards a positive organizational culture. The keys to this initiative's preliminary success have been the leadership support and flexibility in implementing the interventions tailored to the hospital.

발달장애 청소년의 문화예술교육 경험에 관한 질적 연구 -공예교육활동을 중심으로- (A Qualitative Study on the Culture and Art Education Experiences of Adolescents with Developmental Disabilities - With a focus on craft education activities -)

  • 연구의 목적은 문화예술교육 프로그램이 장애 청소년에게 미치는 영향을 알아보는 데 있다. 문화예술교육 프로그램 중 공예교육활동으로 구성하였으며 다학문간 융합교육을 지향하였다. 본 연구의 실행을 위해 고등학교 특수학급에 재학 중인 발달장애 청소년 7명을 대상으로 교육회기 이후 한 달간 심층인터뷰를 실시하였으며 연구결과는 다음과 같이 도출되었다. 첫째 일반학급에서는 경험하기 힘들었던 학문의 즐거움과 유쾌함, 흥미를 보였다. 둘째, 수업참여의 긴장감이 완화되며 교육활동을 통해 편안함을 느끼며, 공예교육에 대해 긍정적인 태도를 보였다. 셋째, 사회 정서적 영역에서는 협동 활동을 통한 함께 있음, 공존의 느낌을 받았으며, 친구와 교사로부터 지지와 도움의 경험을 하게 되었다. 넷째, 교육활동을 통해 자신의 생각을 나누고, 친구들의 이야기를 경청하고 함께 만들어낸 작품에 대해 이야기 하며 친밀한 관계의 경험을 나눌 수 있었다.

행동이론에 근거한 가임여성 대상 영양교육 프로그램 개발 (Development of a Theory Based Nutrition Education Program for Childbearing Aged Women in Korea)

  • It was well received that well grounded behavioral theories were important in the development of effective nutrition education programs, but there are only a few programs available for Korean women. The objective of this study was to develop nutrition education programs for childbearing-aged women in Korea. Based on the findings of the needs assessment for the program and theoretical backgrounds, we developed behaviorally oriented tailored nutrition education program including motivation (MT), modifying (MD) and maintenance (MA) stages. The key concepts of the stages were motivation promotion for MT, increasing behavioral capabilities for MD, and strengthening self-management and building favorable environmental condition for MA. The education program was intended to be need in individual nutrition counseling, but it could be well used for group education by developing materials using the relevant contents. The primary users of the program were nutrition educators, however it could be also used by clients as needed. The introductory chapter provided dietary assessment tools and nutrition education tips. MT chapter included subjects such as nutritional status screening, costs of inappropriate nutrition and weight management, benefits of eating right, and activities for motivation promotion. MD stage chapter dealt with topics of healthy weight, knowledges and skills for better eating habits and physical activity status, and activities related to setting tailored behavioral objectives. MA stage focused on facilitating self management skills and building helping relationships. Each stage underlined activities using various educational tools in order to promote active participation of the client (s). For better use of this program, it was recommended to conduct program validation study.
