A Study on the Preliminary Analysis for the No-Gun Ri Massacre Documentation Strategy (노근리사건 도큐멘테이션 전략 수립을 위한 예비 분석 연구)

  • The study reports a preliminary analysis for the No-Gun Ri massacre documentation strategy based on Hackman and Wornow-Blewett's implementation model, as an appraisal and selection method for No-Gun Ri Digital Archives. It intends to review the theoretical background for this process, inlcuding a history of the No-Gun Ri massacre and the development of documentation strategy. From the theoretical analysis, this study identified the No Gun Ri documentation strategy processes in 5 categories: "cooperative collecting", "collecting in specific areas", "identifing missing areas" and "advisory group". With these 5 categories, this study discusses the application of the Hackman and Wornow-Blewett's implementation model in the No Gun Ri case and reviews the strategy's pros and cons. As a result, firstly, we classfy focusing groups into "victims and bereaved family", "government", "civil society", "the press" and "literature and art". Secondly, we also classify documentation categories into "massacre records", "investigation activity records" and "cherish memory".

  • Recently in the field of archival science, a variety of documentation issues about community, everyday life, political and social movement and human rights are under discussion focusing on minorities' documentation and implementation of social justice. Those issues are especially focused on documentation about minorities and implementation of social justice. These Archival Activism is evolved from academic and social influence since the late 1960s rather than recent changes. The recent Archival Activism is under way in various fields and forms that encompasses both aspects of the mainstream/fringe groups over the world beyond organizations and areas. 4.16 disaster put archival community in korea many challenges. Now is the time to approach with reflections on records of evidence and heal. This study seeks contemporary documentation's assignments through the documentation case of Occupy Wall Street Movement. Firstly, it examines on concept of Archival Activism, origins, and developments. And Based on the documentation case of Occupy Wall Street Movement, it investigates a role of the archival profession carrying out Archival Activism.

  • Rep. Roh Hoe-chan is a representative politician in Korean progressive politics. From the labor movement to the workers' political organization movement, they devoted themselves to the movement to build a progressive party. As a member of the 17th, 19th, and 20th National Assembly, he carried out legislative activities. The record he left is the record of the political power of workers, the record of the progressive party, and the record of a politician who suffers and practices. Also, as the son of a displaced person, as a student activist suffering from the restoration period, it is also a record of a human being of cultural literacy who played the cello. Archivist's basic research is expected to play a role in creating a virtuous cycle of archive management by structuring the archive and presenting various access points to various users, allowing more diverse research and use in the future.
