전기자동차용 리튬이온 배터리 급속충전장치 설계와 제어 (A Design and Control of Rapid Electric Vehicle Charging System for Lithium-Ion Battery)

  • This paper presents a simple and cost-effective stand-alone rapid battery charging system of 30kW for electric vehicles. The proposed system mainly consists of active front-end rectifier of neutral point clamped 3-level type and non-isolated bi-directional dc-dc converter of multi-phase interleaved half-bridge topology. The charging system is designed to operate for both lithium-polymer and lithium-ion batteries. The complete charging sequence is made up of three sub-interval operating modes; pre-charge mode, constant-current mode, and constant-voltage mode. The pre-charge mode employs the stair-case shaped current profile to accomplish shorter charging time while maintaining the reliable operation of the battery. The proposed system is specified to reach the full-charge state within less than 16min for the battery capacity of 8kWh by supplying the charging current of 78A. Owing to the simple and compact power conversion scheme, the proposed solution has superior module-friendly mechanical structure which is absolutely required to realize flexible power expansion capability in a very high-current rapid charging system.

  • 본 논문은 70[W]급 세라믹 방전관 메탈할라이드 램프용 전자식 안정기의 설계와 제자에 대하여 기술하였다. 제안한 안정기는 정류기, 능동성 역률개선회로, 하프브리지 인버터, LC 공진회로 및 제어회로로 구성되며, 램프의 재점등에 필요한 타이머 기능을 추가하였다. 점등시 램프에는 음향공명현상과 플리커 현상을 피하기 위하여 45[KHz]의 고주파 전압이 인가되도록 설계하였다. 실험결과로부터 역률과 효율은 각각 91[%], 97.7[%]로 평가되었다.

  • A 30kW electrical power conversion system is developed for a variable speed wind turbine. In the wind energy conversion system(WECS) a synchronous generator with field current excitation converts the mechanical energy into electrical energy. As the voltage and the frequency of the generator output vary according to the wind speed, a 6-bridge diode rectifier and a PWM boost chopper is utilized as an ac-dc converter maintaining the constant dc-link voltage with only single switch control. An input current control algorithm for maximum power generation during the variable speed operation is proposed without any usage of speed sensor. Grid connection type PWM inverter converts dc input power to ac output currents into the grid. The active power to the grid is controlled by q-axis current and the reactive power is controlled by d-axis current with appropriate decoupling. The phase angle of utility voltage is detected using software PLL(Phased Locked Loop) in d-q synchronous reference frame. Experimental results from the test of 30kW prototype wind turbine system show that the generator power can be controlled effectively during the variable speed operation without any speed sensor.

A Buck-Boost Type Charger with a Switched Capacitor Circuit

  • In this paper, a buck-boost type battery charger is developed for charging battery set with a lower voltage. This battery charger is configured by a rectifier circuit, an integrated boost/buck power converter and a switched capacitors circuit. A boost power converter and a buck power converter sharing a common power electronic switch are integrated to form the integrated boost/buck power converter. By controlling the common power electronic switch, the battery charger performs a hybrid constant-current/constant-voltage charging method and gets a high input power factor. Accordingly, both the power circuit and the control circuit of the developed battery charger are simplified. The switched capacitors circuit is applied to be the output of the boost converter and the input of the buck converter. The switched capacitors circuit can change its voltage according to the utility voltage so as to reduce the step-up voltage gain of the boost converter when the utility voltage is small. Hence, the power efficiency of a buck-boost type battery charger can be improved. Moreover, the step-down voltage gain of the buck power converter is reduced to increase the controllable range of the duty ratio for the common power electronic switch. A prototype is developed and tested to verify the performance of the proposed battery charger.

Dual-Output Single-Stage Bridgeless SEPIC with Power Factor Correction

  • This study proposes a dual-output single-stage bridgeless single-ended primary-inductor converter (DOSSBS) that can completely remove the front-end full-bridge alternating current-direct current rectifier to accomplish power factor correction for universal line input. Without the need for bridge diodes, the proposed converter has the advantages of low component count and simple structure, and can thus significantly reduce power loss. DOSSBS has two uncommon output ports to provide different voltage levels to loads, instead of using two separate power factor correctors or multi-stage configurations in a single stage. Therefore, this proposed converter is cost-effective and compact. A magnetically coupled inductor is introduced in DOSSBS to replace two separate inductors to decrease volume and cost. Energy stored in the leakage inductance of the coupled inductor can be completely recycled. In each line cycle, the two active switches in DOSSBS are operated in either high-frequency pulse-width modulation pattern or low-frequency rectifying mode for switching loss reduction. A prototype for dealing with an $85-265V_{rms}$ universal line is designed, analyzed, and built. Practical measurements demonstrate the feasibility and functionality of the proposed converter.

  • This study proposes a new type of active-clamp forward-flyback converter with two transformers that operate in forward and flyback modes during on and off times, respectively, instead of not using an output inductor. The main switch can be turned on with zero-voltage switching (ZVS) using the leakage inductance of the transformer and the output capacitor of the main switch. The leakage inductance should be increased to ZVS. However, the ringing between the leakage inductance of the transformer and the parasitic output capacitance of the secondary side rectifier switches results in a serious voltage spike. A forward-flyback converter employing auxiliary inductor and auxiliary diode is proposed to overcome the problem. The operational principles are analyzed in detail and validated through experiments with a 385 V-to-53 V/37 A prototype.

  • 본 논문에서는 능동 클램프 회로를 이용한 위상천이 풀-브리지 컨버터(Phase-shift Full-Bridge Converter)의 스위치 제어 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 위상천이 풀-브리지 컨버터는 2차측 정류 스위치에서 스파이크 전압이 발생하며, 순환 전류(Circulating current)로 인한 도통 손실이 발생하는 단점을 지닌다. 위의 문제를 극복하는 회로로서 2차 측에 능동 클램프 회로를 적용하는 방법이 연구되었다. 하지만, 낮은 부하에서 클램프 커패시터의 전압이 상승하여, 2차 측 소자의 전압 스트레스가 증가하고, EMI 문제가 발생되는 단점을 지닌다. 본 논문에서는 위상천이 풀-브리지 컨버터의 2차 측에 능동 클램프 회로 및 동기 정류 스위치(Synchronous rectifier switch)를 적용하여, 클램프 커패시터의 전압 상승을 억제하는 해결 방안을 제시하며, 능동 클램프 회로의 스위치 제어 방법을 제안한다. 또한, 회로의 구조, 동작 원리 및 스위치 제어 방법을 설명하고, 모의 실험을 수행하여 타당성을 검증한다.

The proposed system is able to reach the full-charge state within less than 16min for the battery capacity of 8kWh by supplying the charging current of 67A. The optimal discharging algorithm for Vehicle to the Grid (V2G) operation has been adopted to maintain the discharging current of 1C. Owing to the simple and compact power conversion scheme, the proposed solution has superior module-friendly mechanical structure which is absolutely required to realize flexible power expansion capability in a very high-current rapid charging system. Experiment waveforms confirm the proposed functionality of the charging system.
