  • For the robust passenger NCAP 5star and the stable neck injury performance, a new concept of passenger airbag has been required strongly. Especially, the deployment stability and the vent hole control technology of the passenger airbag should be improved. According to these requirements, the deployment stability technique has been studied and the 'Active Vent' technology has been developed. As a result, these technologies have led to achieve the robust NCAP rating and are applied to the production vehicles.

  • As the recent advancement of automobile industry, there has been a great interest in the thermal comfort of the passengers inside the cabin of an automobile. Thermal comfort is affected by temperature, velocities, and mean radiation temperature of air, thermal resistance of clothes and physical active level of human. The present study performed computational analysis to select the location of air-conditioning vent that improves thermal comfort inside the cabin. In order to do this, we considered various air vent positions, and thermal flow analysis of each case is performed using CFD for the cabin with four passengers. The thermal comfort is evaluated using the computational results and the optimum location of air vent is suggested.

심해 및 표층 지자기 자료를 이용한 라우분지 북동부의 열수 분출구 및 해저 지각 구조 연구 (The Study of Hydrothermal Vent and Ocean Crustal Structure of Northeastern Lau Basin Using Deep-tow and Surface-tow Magnetic Data)

  • Fonualei Rift and Spreading Center(FRSC)와 Mangatolu Triple Junction(MTJ) 칼데라는 활동성 후호분지인 라우(Lau)분지 북동쪽에 위치하고 있다. FRSC에서는 심해 견인 및 표층 자력탐사가 수행되었으며, 심해 견인 자력탐사에서 나타나는 해저 지형과 자력계 고도 사이의 거리 변화 영향을 보정하기 위해 Guspi의 상향연속법을 이용하여 동일한 고도에서 측정한 값으로 변환하였다. Parker and Huestis의 역산 알고리즘을 이용하여 해양지각의 자화를 계산하였고, 이로부터 심해저 열수 분출구 탐사와 해저지각 구조를 파악하고자 하였다. FRSC의 심해 견인 자력탐사 결과 해령에서 주로 나타나는 최대 4.5 A/m의 Central Anomaly Magnetization High(CAMH)가 관측되었으며, 남남서-북북동으로 추정되는 해령의 방향은 라우분지 내 주요 확장축의 방향과 일치하는 경향을 보인다. 또한 FRSC에서는 열수 분출구로 의심되는 - 4.0 A/m의 저자화이상이 발견되었다. MTJ 칼데라$(174^{\circ}00'W\;15^{\circ}20'S)$에서는 표층 자력탐사만이 수행되었고, 남남서-북북동 방향으로 함몰된 화륜과 중앙에서 나타나는 CAMH를 통해 칼데라 중심에 활동성 확장축이 존재하는 것으로 판단된다.

심해 극한 환경에서의 중형저서동물 군집 (Meiobenthic Communities in Extreme Deep-sea Environment)

  • The spatial patterns of meiobenthic communities in deep-sea sediment were examined. Sediment samples for analyzing of meiobenthic community structure were collected using a remote operated vehicle (ROV), multiple corer TV grab at 20 stations at five sites. In all, 15 meiofauna groups were recorded. Nematodes were the most abundant taxon. Benthic foraminiferans, harpacticoid copepods, polychaetes, and crustacean naupii were also dominant groups at all sites. The total meiofauna density at the study sites varied from 49 to 419 ind./$10cm^2$. The maximum density was recorded at a site located in Challenger Deep in the Mariana trench where simple benthic foraminifera with organic walls flourish. These distinctive taxa seem to be characteristic of the deepest ocean depths. Active hydrothermal sediments contain up to 150 harpacticoid copepods per $10cm^2$ of sediment. In a inactive ridge sediments, devoid of macrofaunal organisms:, the abundance of harpacticoid copepods never exceeded 15 ind./$10cm^2$. Multivariate analysis (multidimensional scaling) revealed significant differences in community structure among the three regions; near an active hydrothermal vent, in the deepest ocean depths and at typical deep-sea bed sites.

해양 지구물리 탐사를 이용한 해저열수광상 부존지역 탐지 방법 (The Exploration Methodology of Seafloor Massive Sulfide Deposit by Use of Marine Geophysical Investigation)

  • 태평양 해양 지각판과 인도-호주 대륙 지각판간 섭입작용에 의해 형성된 남태평양 라우분지는 활동성 후열도분지로서 해저열수광상이 부존할 가능성이 매우 높은 지역이다. 한국해양연구원은 라우분지를 대상으로 다중음향측심장비(EM120)을 이용하여 정밀지형조사를 실시하여 열수활동이 활발할 것으로 예측되는 해저 지각 확장축 주변지역 (FRSC)과 해저화산 지역(MTJ)을 선별하였다. 또한, 표층 및 심해견인 자력탐사결과를 토대로 저 자기이상 현상을 나타내는 열수광체 지역을 선정하였다. 표층 및 심해 견인 자력탐사 결과 해령에서 주로 나타나는 Central Anomaly Magnetization High(CAMH)가 FRSC-2 지역에서 관측되었으며, MTJ-1 지역에서는 열수분출작용으로 추정되는 저자화이상이 발견되었다. CTD 시스템을 이용하여 열수 플룸 추적자인 투명도, 수소이온(pH), 미생물생체량(ATP), 메탄$(CH_4)$농도를 실시간으로 측정한 결과 FRSC-2와 MTJ-1 지역은 현재 매우 활발한 화산 활동이 진행되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이 지역에서 채취한 열수분출공과 기반암 시료는 이 지역에서 열수활동이 진행되었거나 진행되고 있으며, 실제로 열수 광체가 부존하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 첨단 해저면 영상장비를 사용하지 않고도, 전통적인 해양 지구물리탐사 방법이 해저열수광상의 탐지에 비용 효과적인 탐사방법임을 알 수 있었다.

정밀 의료기기 부품 생산을 위한 사출금형의 가스벤트 제어에 관한 연구 (A study on gas vent control of injection mold for the production of precision medical device parts)

  • Typical characteristics of medical device parts are that they can not be reused and there are many disposable products. Therefore, there is a need for an injection molding machine having excellent repeatability of molding conditions and a precision injection mold for mass production. Recently, the performance of an injection machine has made a remarkable evolution compared to the past. However, defects such as short-shot, flash, weld line, gas burning, warpage, and deformation, which are typical defects, still do not disappear at all. This is due to the lack of gas ventilation from the product cavities, even if the gas is smoothly vented from the sprue and runner of the mold. For this reason, the internal pressure of the cavity rises and is directly connected to the quality defects. In this study, an active gas vent system was designed to prevent defects due to trapped gas in the cavity. Since it can be easily adjustable in response to the molding conditions and the mold temperature changes, it is expected to improve productivity due to the reduction of the defective ratio.

엘리베이터 카 내부 기류분포에 관한 열 유동해석 (Thermal and Fluid Analysis on Air Distribution in a Elevator Car)

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the visualization of the flow field for air flow distributed in the car from the ventilation fan installed in the ceiling of the passenger elevator car through the numerical analysis using computational fluid dynamics. STAR-CCM+, which is a code used for the numerical analysis, was used to predict the airflow distribution inside the elevator car. The numerical analysis of the distribution of the air current in the elevator was carried out. As a result, the analysis results for each point and the visualization of the air current distribution and the temperature distribution in the elevator car and were obtained. It was found that heat transfer was actively occurring inside the car due to the influence of the flow field discharged from the ventilation vent installed in the ceiling in the elevator car, and especially the convection heat transfer of Model-2 was more active than that of Model-1. As a result, the temperature distribution inside the car was found to be relatively low. In addition, the temperature distribution at a cross-section of 1700mm height in the elevator car shows that Model-2 is the location of the ventilation vent which makes people feel more comfortable.

  • Farnesyl Protein transferase(FPT)는 발암유전자 ras의 단백질 산물인 p$^{21}$의 post-translational modification의 첫 단계인 ras-farnesylation에 관여하는 효소로 본 연구에서는 정제된 FPT와 E. coli에서의 발현 system을 이용하여 FPT의 구조와 기능을 밝히고 이를 FPT 방해제의 설계에 이용하고자 한다. Bovine testis에 존재하는 FPT를 30%-50%의 Ammonium sulfate로 fractionation하고, DEAE-Sephacel, Sephacryl S-300 column을 통과시킨 후 peptide(KKCVIM) affinity column을 이용하여 순수 정제하였다. 정제된 효소의 분자량은 gel-filtration에 의해 100KDa으로 추정되었고 SDS-PAGE 결과 49KDa과 46KDa의 두 subunit로 구성되었음이 확인되었다. 효소활성에는 $Mg^{2+}$$Zn^{2+}$가 필수적이며 최적 pH는 7.0이었다. Yeast의 FPT의 두 subunit 유전자는 Yeast genomic DNA를 template로 사용하고 각 subunit에 specific한 합성된 primer들과 vent polymerase를 이용하여 Polymerase chain reaction을 통하여 얻었다. 두 유전자를 pBluescriptII SK+ vector를 변형시킨 두 vector, pBSK+4와 pBChl+4에 재조합 시킨 후 E.coli에 transformation시켜 발현시켰다. 현재 정제된 Bovine FPT와 E. coli에서 발현된 Yeast FPT의 chemical modification과 site-directed mutagenesis를 통하여 FPT의 active site와 substrate binding site에 관한 연구를 진행시키고 있다.

Container System Actively Maintaining High CO2 Concentration for Improved Sensory Quality of Kimchi

  • A kimchi container actively controlling $CO_2$ concentration by timely flushing of $CO_2$ gas was structured and tested in its capability and effectiveness because high $CO_2$ concentration enhances the sensory flavor of the product. The inlet and outlet valves of $CO_2$ gas were programmed to open and close allowing synchronous vent/$CO_2$ flush according to the requirements of its dissolution in the contained kimchi. During the chilled storage, the headspace of container could be maintained at desired high $CO_2$ concentration providing the preferred kimchi in sensory quality compared to control of the conventional container. However, there was no significant difference between the high $CO_2$ container and control (container simply closed with air) in kimchi quality attributes of pH, titratable acidity, total viable bacterial count, Lactobacillus sp. count and Leuconostoc sp. count. The flow rate and time interval of $CO_2$ flushing need to be adjusted considering the kimchi amount, headspace volume and ripening time. The designed system has potential to be applied in refrigerator appliances in homes and food service industry.

신규 보호회로 적용을 통한 저전류 장비용 군 리튬전지 안전성 개선 (Safety Improvement of Military Primary Lithium Batteries by New Protection Circuit for Low Current System)

  • The use of military lithium batteries in this field accelerates the generation of internal pressure because the active materials, lithium and the electrolyte, react to form sulfur dioxide gas. This also reduces the amount of electrolyte. In this condition, batteries can 'vent' or 'explode' especially when completely discharged. Such venting and explosion can be regarded as a safety accident, as toxic gases and shrapnel are ejected from the batteries which can harm the user. A DTaQ was carried out in 2017 as a quality problem solution project to solve this safety issue. A protection circuit was thereby developed, which included a micro controller unit (MCU) which can stop battery usage when in an over-discharging state by sensing its low-voltage condition. In 2018, this concept was expanded to lithium batteries for the remote controlled ammunition system. This paper reports results of the improved performance.
