During the last decade, social live streaming service like Periscope, Ustream, and YouNow has developed from a niche market into a mainstream activity. In this media environment, social live streaming service has a tremendous impact on the social behaviors of users. Despite the rapid development, there are a lack of studies to make better understand the media environment changes through social live streaming service. This study adopted an affordances approach that leads us to identify six distinctive social affordances (visibility, accessibility, information sharing, social interaction, role-taking, interactive revenue) for user engagement in social live streaming service. Specifically, this study explores the impact of social affordances on perceived flow, followed by user engagement including passive and active engagement. Empirical data analysis with 258 questionnaires suggests that social affordances affected users' flow perception, and flow has an effect on active as well as passive engagement. Contrary to the expectation in a hypothesized research model, only the impact of accessibility on flow was rejected.
This study is aimed for emprical analyzing (1) the effects of leadership of army commanders on subordinates' job satisfaction and (2) the moderating effects of subordinates' active engagement within the relationship between commanders' transformational transactional leadership and job satisfaction of soldiers, while over 500 combat soldiers throughout the nation are questioned for this analysis. The followings are the summary of findings of this study. The first finding shows that both transformational and transactional leadership have positive impacts on the job satisfaction of the soldiers. In this context, it is recommended that army commanders should apply effectively these behaviors of leadership in order to achieve their goals in military organizations. The second sector of the analysis includes the moderating effect of subordinates' active engagement within the relationship between the commanders' leadership and job satisfaction of the soldiers. The finding of the second analysis shows that subordinates' active engagement has positive moderating effect on the relationship between transformational leadership and job satisfaction. However, it has no moderating effect on the relationship between transactional leadership and job satisfaction. This implies that army commanders should apply the behavioral factors of both leadership styles and encourage active engagement of soldiers in order to enhance the satisfaction of soldiers, focusing more on applying the behavioral factors of transformational leadership.

As social media marketing becomes prevalent, it is necessary to understand the administrative role of managers in promoting user engagement. However, little is known about how community managers enhance user engagement in social media. In this research, we study how managers can boost online user participation, including clicking likes and writing comments. Using the SUR (Seemingly Unrelated Regression) model, we find out that the active participation of managers increases user engagement of both passive (likes) and active (comments) ones. In addition, we find that the number of emotional words included in posts has a positive effect on the passive engagement whereas it negatively affects the active engagement. Lastly, the congruency between posts and comments positively affects users' passive engagement. This study contributes to prior literature related to online community management and text analyses. Furthermore, our findings offer managerial insights for practitioners and social media managers to further facilitate user engagement.

This paper on the Research of Naval Electronic Warfare System HILS(Hardware In the Loop System) describes the EW engagement HILS construction method for evaluation of the operational concept analysis on active RF Decoy in staying in the air and the deceit ability to anti-ship missile seeker. We obtain the EW M&S technology of EW engagement HILS and EW efficiency analysis from this project. This Naval Electronic Warfare System HILS technology will support Active Decoy Development Project and any other HILS of EW weapon in KOREA ARMY/NAVY/AIR FORCE.
The survivability of a naval ship is the ability of the ship and its onboard systems to remain functional and continue a designated mission in man-made hostile environments. A passive decoy system is primarily used as a weapon system for improving the survivability of a naval ship. In this study, an engagement scenario-based simulation program was developed for decoy effectiveness assessments against an anti-ship missile (ASM), which tracks a target with sea-skimming and active radar homing. The program can explain the characteristics of a target ship, such as the radar cross section and evasive maneuvers, as well as the operational performance of the onboard decoy system, the guidance method of the ASM, and the engagement environment's wind speed and direction. This paper describes the theory and formulations, configuration, and user interface of the developed program. Numerical examples of a decoy effect assessment of a virtual naval ship against an ASM are presented.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among followership, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, turnover intention, and customer orientation in hospital nurses. Methods: The participants in this study were 210 staff nurses in one university hospital. Data were analyzed using frequency, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Followership had positive correlations with organizational commitment (r=.46, p<.001), job satisfaction (r=.41, p<.001), customer orientation (r=.47, p<.001). Followership had negative correlation with turnover intention (r=-.23, p<.001). The factor of followership influencing organizational commitment was active engagement, and this factor accounted for 23.3% of explanatory power. The factor of followership influencing job satisfaction was active engagement (F=45.00, p<.001), and this factor accounted for 17.8% of explanatory power. The factor of followership influencing turnover intention was active engagement (F=19.69, p<.001), and this factor accounted for 17.0% of explanatory power. The factors of followership influencing customer orientation were active engagement (F=51.38, p=.004) and independent, critical thinking (F=24.55, p=.011), and these factors accounted for 22.1% of explanatory power. Conclusion: Findings indicate a need to develop followership to promote organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and customer orientation and to decrease turnover intention in nurses.
Objectives : According to Rowe and Kahn (1998), successful aging is the combination of a low probability of disease, high functioning, and active engagement with life. The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between active engagement with life and functioning among the community-dwelling elderly. Methods : Data were collected from Wave 2 of the Suwon Longitudinal Aging Study (SLAS), consisting of a sample of 645 persons aged 65 and older living in the community. A social activity checklist and social support inventory were used as measures of engagement with life, along with the Physical Functioning (PF) scale as a measure of functioning. The effects of social support and social activity on physical functioning, taking into account the covariates, were analyzed by hierarchical linear regression analysis. Results : Maintenance of social activity and social support were significantly associated with higher physical function, after adjusting for sociodemographic and health-related covariates. Social support appeared to be more prominent than social activity in predicting physical functioning. Conclusions : Social support and social activity are potentially modifiable factors associated with physical function in older persons. Studies examining the role social engagement may play in preventing disability are warranted.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships between variables and factors affecting the intention on retention of nurses in small and medium-sized hospitals. Methods: The participants of this study were 203 nurses working in six small and medium-sized hospitals, and data was collected from August 15 to August 30, 2019 using a structured questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression using IBM SPSS/WIN 24.0. Results: As a result of the study, intention on retention was positively correlated with resilience (r=.40, p<.05) and followership (r=.38, p<.05). Affecting factors of the intention on retention were marital state (married) (β=.21, p=.001), resilience (β=.22, p=.016), and active engagement as a subcartegory of followership (β=.19, p=.034), and the variables explained 20.8% of the nurses' intention on retention. Conclusion: In order to increase the intention on retention of small and medium-sized hospitals nurses, it is necessary to provide an environment in which small and medium-sized hospital nurses are able to have active engagement and independent thinking and to develop a program to promote their resilience.
In the post-pandemic era, colleges and students keep passion for learning online sine its unique advantages. This study explores how students' basic psychological needs drawn from self-determination theory, connect to interaction, and learning engagement in the context of online learning. While prior research explored students' intentions, digital interactions, and engagement in online learning, this study aims to come up with a united conceptual model drawing the three basic psychological needs and interaction and their effects on learning engagement. 178 response data collected through a questionnaire survey, were analyzed using PLS-SEM. Findings indicate that online learning interaction enhances intrinsic motivation, leading to higher learning engagement. Autonomy emerges as the most influential psychological need on learning engagement. This study integrates self-determination theory with online learning interactions and engagement and offers practical insights. Future research should examine long-term outcomes and diverse student populations.

Recently, the active interaction control (AIC) system was proposed as a semi-active control system. The AIC system consists of a primary structure and an auxiliary structure. The objective of the AIC system is to control the response of the primary structure through engagement and disengagement between the primary and auxiliary structures. Previous switching control algorithms have been shown to be effective in reducing the response of the primary structure. However, they have the main drawback of requiring an excessive engagement-disengagement frequency and high interaction force. In this paper, the regions in which the switching is activated and the regions in which the switching is deactivated are described separately, to effectively determine the engagement or the disengagement. The general relationship between the switching regions and the deactivated switching regions selected according to the engagement-disengagement conditions is described within the newly-developed comprehensive switching framework. The proposed engagement-disengagement conditions are designed within a comprehensive switching framework, to reduce engagement-disengagement frequency and interaction force. Furthermore, the effect of a control sampling period on the AIC system is explained in terms of the engagement-disengagement frequency. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithms and the effect of the control sampling period are considered for a single degree of freedom model under free vibration. It is observed that increasing the duration of stay by using a large control sampling period prevents the AIC system from activating the possible chance of switching. The proposed algorithms are shown to be effective, both in restricting ineffective switching and in reducing interaction force.
