Geopolymer was made using magnetic separation fly ash with NaOH(Sodium Hydroxide) and the water glass as alkali activators in this study. Compressive strength of geopolymers ceramics was measured and analyzed according to the type of materials. Under the conditions of fly ash without magnetic separation and 28 day curing after molding, the compressive strength of the geopolymer reached up to 28 MPa.
A series of the noble palladium complexes containing $\beta$-ketoiminate ligands with internal bases, [Pd(${\eta}^3$-allyl)($\beta$- ketoiminate)], [Pd(Me)($PPh_3$)($\beta$-ketoiminate)] and [Pd(Me)($\beta$-ketoiminate)], have been successfully prepared. Crystallographically determined structures showed that these complexes are distorted square planar and pendant bases of the $\beta$-ketoiminate ligands fail to coordinate to the metal in the first two classes of complexes while bases do coordinate in the 3rd class complexes. These complexes are active towards norbornene polymerization on activation with $H(OEt_2)_2BAr^'_4$ (Ar' = 3,5-bistrifluoromethylphenyl) and modified methylalumioxane (MMAO). MMAO is more efficient for the activation for polymerization. Generally, the polymerization activity increases with the following order; [Pd(allyl)($\beta$-ketoiminate)] < [Pd(Me)($PPh_3$)($\beta$-ketoiminate)] < [Pd(Me)($\beta$-ketoiminate)].
Problem based learning(PBL) is one of the learning strategies from the constructivism. It is a learning centered students. The tutors are facillitators as activators, helpers and cooperators not organizer in the classrooms. PBL makes that students learn creativity, independence, reasoning skits, communication and collaboration for problem solving. As the PBL process, students get the problems that are in real situation, discussed with others for brain storming, self directed study and revisited to the situation. They think critically and apply to the real situation. When students are to be physical therapists, they are easy to adopt their job and efficient to manage well. But inspite of a lot of advantages to them, there are much conflict to use as the learning strategies. Students perceived one of best learning method that they have experienced, but there are stress, burden, anxiety, timeless to prepare, lack of information and so on. PBL is effective to learning health oriented subjects, problem solving, even a lot preparation and processing for learning. It is reduced the differences between theories in colleges and practices in the fields. In processing of PBL, students get more many skills than the conventional learning. As trying many times to the classrooms, we can fixed to PBL with mistakes and conflict for better the development of the teaching and learning.

The purpose of this study is to propose the development of high quality electromagnetic wave shielding fabrics. Silver nitrate is used for polyester fabric as an electromagnetic wave shielding material. The effects of activators and electroless silver plating condition on the evenness and adhesion of silver to fabrics, are observed through the SEM micrographs. Surface morphology and wash-ability are measured using SEM. The results are as follows: The optimum weight loss by alkaline hydrolysis of polyester fabrics is about 20%. The optimum concentration of $SnCl_2$ and $PdCl_2$in catalyst reaction using $PdCl_2$ as an activator is 2.5g/L and 0.5g/L, respectively. The optimum concentration of dextrose to improve adhesion between the silver plating and fabrics is 45g/L. The optimum concentration of silver nitrate in the catalyst reaction, using $PdCl_2$ as an activator is 56g/L, respectively. The optimum plating temperature and time are $15^{\circ}C$ and 30minutes, respectively.
Supplemental studies were made on the adrenotropic receptors of the rat uterus, using adrenergic activators such as phenylephrine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, and isoproterenol and adrenergic blocking agents such as phenoxybenzamine and inderal. The studies have revealed the following results : 1. Phenylephrine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, and isoproterenol inhibited the spontaneous motility of the isolated rat uterus in the following order : Isoproterenol>epinephrine>norepinephrine>phenylephrine. 2. The inhibitory responses of the isolated rat uterus to phenylephrine and epinephrine were abolished by the pretreatment with phenoxybenzamine. 3. The inhibitory responses of the isolated rat uterus to isoproterenol and epinephrine were not affected by phenoxybenzamine. 4. The motility of the isolated rat uterus pretreated with inderal was stimulated by phenylephrine, norepinephrine and epinephrine. 5. The inhibitory responses of the isolated rat uterus to isoproterenol were abolished by the pretreatment with inderal. 6. The motility of the isolated rat uterus pretreated with inderal and phenoxybenzamine was not affected by phenylephrine, norepinephrine and epinephrine. 7. It is, therefore, concluded that the rat uterus has both alpha excitatory and beta inhibitory receptors, with beta inhibitory receptors predominating.
The discovery of new luminescent materials for use in light-emitting diodes(LEDs) has been of great interest, since LED-based solid state lighting applications are attracting a lot of attention in the energy saving and environmental fields. Recent research trends have centered on the discovery of new luminescent materials rather than on fine changes in well-known luminescent materials. In a sense, the novelty of our study beyond simple modification or improvement of existing phosphors. A good strategy for the discovery of new fluorescent materials is to introduce activators that are appropriate for conventional inorganic compounds, that have well-defined structures in the crystal structure database, but have not been considered as phosphor hosts. Another strategy is to discover new host compounds with structures that cannot be found in any existing databases. We have pursued these two strategies at the same time using composite search technology with particle swarm optimization(PSO). In this study, using PSO, we have tracked down a search space composed of Sr-Al-Si-O-N and have discovered a new phosphor structure with yellow luminescence; this material is a potential candidate for UV-LED applications.
To improve sensitivity of biosensor as yeast two-hybrid detection system for estrogenic activity of suspected chemicals, we tested effects of several combinations of the bait and fish components in the two-hybrid system on Saccharomyces cerevisiae inducted a chromosome-integrated lacZ reporter gene that was under the control of CYC1 promoter and the upstream Gal4p-binding element $UAS_{GAL}$. The bait components that were fused with the Gal4p DNA binding domain are full-length human estrogen receptor ${\alpha}$ and its ligand-binding domain. The fish components that were fused with the Gal4p transcriptional activation domain were nuclear receptor-binding domains of co-activators SRC1 and TIF2. We found that the combination of the full-length human estrogen receptor ${\alpha}$ with the nuclear receptor-binding domain of co-activator SRC1 was most effective for the estrogen-dependent induction of reporter activity among the two-hybrid systems so far reported. The relative strength of transcriptional activation by representative natural and xenobiotic chemicals was well correlated with their estrogenic potency that had been reported with other assay systems.

Class III chitin synthases in filamentous fungi are important for hyphal growth and differentiation of several filamentous fungi. A genomic clone containing the full gene encoding Chs4, a class III chitin synthase in Penicillium chrysogenum, was cloned by PCR screening and colony hybridization from the genomic library. Nucleotide sequence analysis and transcript mapping of chs4 revealed an open reading frame (ORF) that consisted of 5 exons and 4 introns and encoded a putative protein of 915 amino acids. Nucleotide sequence analysis of the 5'flanking region of the ORF revealed a potential TATA box and several binding sites for transcription activators. The putative transcription initiation site at -716 position was identified by primer extension and the expression of the chs4 during the vegetative growth was confirmed by Northern blot analysis. Amino acid sequence analysis of the Chs4 revealed at least 5 transmembrane helices and several sites for past-transnational modifications. Comparison of the amino acid sequence of Chs4 with those of other fungi showed a close relationship between P chrysogenum and genus Aspergillus.
Antioxidants have been added to cryoprotectant or in vitro culture medium for sperm to reduce the detrimental damage, such as reactive oxygen species. However, curcumin, an antioxidant, shows dual effect on the viability and progressive motility of bovine sperm exposed to hydrogen peroxide. Low concentration of curcumin increases sperm viability and progressive motility, whereas high concentration of curcumin reduces them. This study was performed to identify whether TREK-1 channel is related to low sperm viability and motility induced by high concentration of curcumin. Curcumin reduced TREK-1 channel activity in a dose-dependent manner. TREK-1 channel was expressed in sperm obtained from Korean native bull. Treatment with TREK-1 channel blockers, such as curcumin, fluoxetine, $GdCl_3$, and spadin, significantly reduced sperm viability and motility (p < 0.05). However, TREK-1 channel activators showed different effect; linoleic acid showed an increase in sperm viability and motility, and wogonin did not affect them. These results show that TREK-1 channel is involved in the regulation of sperm viability and motility. In particular, high concentration of curcumin might reduce sperm viability and progressive motility of Korean native bull through blockage of TREK-1 channel.
Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease, and its pathogenesis is complex and has not yet been fully elucidated. Abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism is key to understanding the pathogenesis of DN, which can develop in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. A hallmark of this disease is the accumulation of glucose and lipids in renal cells, resulting in oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum stress, intracellular hypoxia, and inflammation, eventually leading to glomerulosclerosis and interstitial fibrosis. There is a growing body of evidence demonstrating that dysregulation of 50 adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK), an enzyme that plays a principal role in cell growth and cellular energy homeostasis, in relevant tissues is a key component of the development of metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus; thus, targeting this enzyme may ameliorate some pathologic features of this disease. AMPK regulates the coordination of anabolic processes, with its activation proven to improve glucose and lipid homeostasis in insulin-resistant animal models, as well as demonstrating mitochondrial biogenesis and antitumor activity. In this review, we discuss new findings regarding the role of AMPK in the pathogenesis of DN and offer suggestions for feasible clinical use and future studies of the role of AMPK activators in this disorder.
