We develop a simulation method that affords very high variability of virtual pedagogical situations involving many independent plans, still achieves authoring (or implementation) scalability. While each individual plan would be coherently drawn up by an agent for its respective goal, those independently-made plans might be coincidentally intertwined in their execution. The inevitable non-determinism involved in this multi-event plan encompassing pre-planned and unforeseen events is resolved by (multi-phase) dynamic planning and articulated sequencing of events in contrast to static planning and monolithic authoring in conventional narrative systems. Connections between events are dictated by their associated rules and their actual connections are dynamically determined in execution time by current conditions of background-world. This unified connection scheme across pre-planned and unforeseen events allows a multi-plan, multi-agent situation to be coherently planned and executed in a global scale. To further the variability of a situation, the inter-event coupling is made in a fine level of action along with a limited episteme of each agent involved. We confirm analytically the viability of our approach with respect to the situation variability and authoring scalability, and demonstrate its practicality with an implementation of a composite situation.
This study aims to understand abnormal climate caused by impacts of climate change and to suggest the direction of urban planning focusing on adaptation to climate change. The study consists of theory consideration and case study(Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle). As a result, the main impacts of climate change faced by urban areas are heat wave, precipitation, and drought. To prevent these impacts, it is important to prepare methods of urban planning as followings: planning for land use, park and green considering the climate patterns, establishing and managing water resources systems similar to the nature, securing renewable energy resources, and transportation facilities and exterior space with proof against climate. It is especially necessary to introduce infrastructures related to storm water, green roof, shading tree planting, green space, and permeable pavement. Finally, in order to realize urban planning for adaptation to climate change, it is needed to make the detailed and specific goal and strategy for the climate change adaptation plan and to extend the scope from the goals to an action plan, a detailed plan, and a design guideline.

This study proposes a plan to construct an integrated platform that reduces manufacturing costs and efficiently produce by integrating the systems of main producers, production subcontractors, and raw material subcontractors for the production of food packaging containers. The production plan of food packaging containers and raw materials is established in real time between the main producers, production subcontractors, and raw material subcontractors in consideration of the demand characteristics of each product. It establishes basic information that all processes from the production planning stage to the forwarding stage of the product are linked to each other. The progress of each producer of interlinked processes is shared in real-time to improve productivity and quality of food packaging containers and raw materials and reduce manufacturing costs. By monitoring the system of the main producer and the production subcontractor in real time, the production of food packaging containers is performed in a timely manner, thereby improving productivity. The application of the plan-do-check-action (PDCA) process, which includes planning, execution, evaluation and improvement in the production operation processes of the main producer, production subcontractor and raw material subcontractor, enables improved production compliance rate. The contents of the main producers, production subcontractors, and raw material subcontractors are managed in real time, then a converged production management system is established through the platform proposed in this study to ensure timely supply and demand of raw materials without delay in ordering.
There has been 10 years since the Health Promotion Act was legislated. The government began to establish a health promotion fund on the basis of Health Promotion Act in 1995, and to manage and operate the fund from 1998. It is evaluated that health promotion program have had various outcomes in many aspects. First, there has been growing awareness of the impotance of health promotion through the establishment of Health Plan 2010 and the effort to actualize the Plan. Second, the importance of securing health equity and identifying health determinants have been recognized during the planning process of Health Plan 2010. Third, the health promotion program have mainly focused on improving healthy life style of the population. As a result, desirable health behavior change of the population could be expected from the result of 2005 National Health and Nutrition Survey. Fourth, public health centers began to play a crucial role in implementing health promotion programs, and began to build infrastructure for health promotion programs. Fifth, management efficiency of private health related organizations have been improved. Finally, training for health promotion personnel and their participation in the program could be the foundation for the higher level of outcome achievement from the health promotion programs. Important challenges for future health promotion would be identification of the determinants and risk factors of health, formulating plan of regional health promotion programs, building infrastructure for health promotion, creation of specific action model by public health center, development of health promotion program for the elderly, conducting research for evidence concerning major factors reducing the need for health care through prevention disease activities, and establishment of evaluation and feed back system for health promotion programs.

This study developed and proposed a lesson plan for the area of “Human development and family relationship”in secondary home economics curriculum. In current educational practice in secondary home economics curriculum, the employed goal and the nature of home economics are neither stated specifically nor closely interrelated. This problem has led us not being able to achieve pursuing goal of home economics education and to employ appropriate teaching methods. In view of this situation, the purpose of this study was to propose a lesson plan reflecting the contents and teaching methods to overcome difficulties and inefficiency in the current practice of secondary home economics education. The theoretical background of the lesson plan was based on the Marjorie M. Brown’s philosophy of home economics which can be summerized as follows: 1. The goal of home economics is to help individuals and families to become autonomous in their own family life and to be more capable of interacting with others in behalf of well-being of the family and of social evolution toward a free society. 2. The characteristics of home economics is conceptualized as practical science and personal service profession. 3. the nature of problems which home economics should deal with is perennial and practial. 4. Practial reasoning composed of historical understanding, critical action, and reflective thinking is appropriate for the previously mentioned goal and characteristics of home economics and for dealing with perennial practial problems. The lesson plan was proposed for one of perennial problem, “How should we understand, create, and maintain our family culture\ulcorner”by employing practial reasoning and teaching models such as “role play”and “classroom meeting.”

This research aims at developing a teachers' training program to reinforce teachers' capability to perform the action learning program. To accomplish this goal, the key value of the training program based on action learning, the process of the core learning activities, and the elements to support learners and facilitators respectively were deducted on the foundation of documentary research and case study, based on which, the program was developed through the formative test by professionals and application to the field. This research was applied to 105 middle or high school teachers, the participants of the in-service training on creative problem solving hosted by B metropolitan city for one week (30 hours) from 9 a.m. on Monday, January 25th, 2010 to 4 p.m. on Friday, January 29th. The result of this research is as follows. First, as for the key values of this study, (1) the team-based learning centered on the trainees, not lecturers-oriented, knowledge-transmitting training, is possible, (2)for each process, guidelines, related information, tools, and various kinds of media are supported just in time, and (3)a focus is given on fostering facilitators centered on teachers. Second, the process of the core learning activities of the teachers' training program based on action learning consists of the procedure of a prior lecture${\rightarrow}$break${\rightarrow}$investigation into problems${\rightarrow}$clarification of problems${\rightarrow}$drawing possible solutions${\rightarrow}$decision on the priority${\rightarrow}$making an action plan${\rightarrow}$performance${\rightarrow}$evaluation, and on each stage, the contents for the activities of teachers and learners and detailed supportive elements are offered.
Apart from the physical realism, the implementation of various physical actions of an agent to respond to dynamically changing situations is essential for the design of an agent in a cyber world. To achieve a maximum diversity in actions, we develop a mechanism that allows composite actions to be constructed by reusing a set of primitive motions and enables an agent to instantly react to changes in the ambient states. Specifically we model an agent's body in terms of joints, and a primitive or composite motion is performed in a real time. To implement this mechanism, we produce an animation for basic joint movements and develop a method to construct overall motions out of the primitive motions. These motions can be assembled into a plan by which an agent can achieve a goal. In this manner, diverse actions can be implemented without excessive efforts. This approach has conspicuous advantages when constructing a parallel action, e.g., eating while walking, that is, two or more parallel actions can be naturally merged into a parallel action according to their priority. We implement several composite and parallel actions to demonstrate the viability of our approach.

This study has been focus to certify the run-up heights, losses of human lives and property damages due to the 1983 Central East Sea tsunami. We have conducted the interview with indigenous inhabitant and field surveying at the Imwon port, East sea in Korea in order to inquire into the state of things occurred during that period. It is also investigated how much well they are aware of the emergency action plan including the evacuation system. Base on the reliable interviews, we selected and surveyed 10 places at the Imwon port, where the historical maximum overflowing occurred due to the 1983 Central East Sea tsunami. The measured run-up heights are approximately $3.3m{\sim}4.0m$ at the selected 10 places and it is found that the sea water ran over the banks in Imwon stream about 700m upstream from the Imwon port. From this study we can suggest supplementing the present emergency action plan and supply the state-of-the-art inundation map.
The extent and depth of the event plan determines the scope of pedagogical experience in situations and consequently the quality of immersive learning based on our simulated world. In contrast to planning in conventional narrative-based systems mainly pursuing dramatic interests, planning in virtual world-based pedagogical systems strive to provide realistic experiences in immersed situations. Instead of story plot comprising predetermined situations, our inter-event planning method aims at simulating diverse situations that each involve multiple events coupled via their associated agents' conditions and meaningful associations between events occurring in a background world. The specific techniques to realize our planning method include, two-phase planning based on inter-event search and intra-event decomposition (down to the animated action level); autonomous and independent agents to behave proactively with their own belief and planning capability; full-blown background world to be used as the comprehensive stage for all events to occur in; coupling events via realistic association types including deontic associations as well as conventional causality; separation of agents from event roles; temporal scheduling; and parallel and concurrent event progression mechanism. Combining all these techniques, diverse exogenous events can be derived and seamlessly (i.e., semantically meaningfully) integrated with the original event to form a wide scope of situations providing chances of abundant pedagogical experiences. For effective implementation of plan execution, we devise an execution scheme based on multiple priority queues, particularly to realize concurrent progression of many simultaneous events to simulate its corresponding reality. Specific execution mechanisms include modeling an action in terms of its component motions, adjustability of priority for agent across different events, and concurrent and parallel execution method for multiple actions and its expansion for multiple events.
This study investigates a variety of dysfunctions and dynamics accompanied with the spread of advanced technology, and predicts the developmental directions of future uncertain society. There are, further, proper countermeasures against dysfunctions discussed. First, different theoretical paradigms concerned with the relationship between seience/technology and society would be comparatively analyzed, and their techno-social implications would be examined. Next, the latest trend of bio-technology and information technology, especially the trend of combination of bio- and information technology, appeared in the progress of Human Genome Project, would be considered. Thirdly, techno-social dysfunctions and far-reaching effects following the development of high-technologies would be analyzed, and realistic alternative plans would be suggested. Through this study, we come to a conclusion that, in order to reduce techno-social dysfunctions to a minimum and enhance their eufunctions, not only 'human' control over technological development should be guaranteed, but also action plan for bridging social gaps should be prepared. In addition, fluent communication and mutual understanding of all concerned, particularly between researcher community, government, and civic sector are required.
