유화중합의 모델연구 2. 삼모노머유화중합의 동력학 (Study on Model of Emulsion Polymeration 2. Kinetics of Termonomer Emulsion Polymerization)

  • 세 종류의 모노머로 구성된 삼모노머중합의 동력학을 입자성장이 끝난 interval II 동안 pseudo-homopolymerization (PHP) 방법에 의하여 연구하였다. 삼모노머중합의 Smith-Ewart 확장식과 순간중합조성식을 단일유화중합의 해당식과 유사하게 나타낼 수 있었다. 입자당 평균라디칼수와 순간중합조성을 라텍스입자내의 모노머조성을 변화시킴으로써 입자당 자유라디칼수가 한 개 이하인 계에서 예측하였다. 모델계산의 예로서 Styrene-Methyl methacrylate-Acrylonitrile(SMA)계의 속도상수들을 사용하였다.

  • The influence of the polarity of the spreading solvent on the properties of the monolayer of poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile)'s with various acrylonitrile contents was studied. The surface pressure - area isotherm and the apparent dipole moment - area isotherm were obtained and analyzed when the mixtures of methylene chloride and N-N-dimethylformamide used as spreading solvent. The isotherms were strongly influenced by the polarity of the solvent.

On the electropolymerization of acrylonitrile as effected by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry method

  • Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) was deposited as an adherent film on Cu-substrate by the cathodic electropolymerization. This work is an attempt to compare the molecular weight and the fractured surface of PAN prepared by CV and chronoamperometry. The molecular weight and increase weight of PAN measured the according to AN-concentration, scan rate, and cycle number (or time) using CV and chronoamperometry. The morphology of PAN was characterized by SEM image. Mechanism and optimal conditions for electropolymerization of acrylonitrile on Cu-substrate were investigated and discussed.

  • A mathematical model is developed for a batch reactor in which the free radical bulk copolymerization of styrene and acrylonitrile takes place. In this model, we introduce the free volume theory to quantify the diffusion controlled termination and propagation reactions, and develop a model for the chain length dependent termination reaction in the context of the pseudo kinetic rate constant method(PKRCM). The simulation results from this model are found to be in good agreement with experimental data under different copolymerization conditions. The present model can predict both the copolymer composition and the number and weight average molecular weights. These kinetic approaches provide greater insight into the performance of the batch reactor used for the free radical bulk copolymerization of styrene and acrylonitirle.

Interaction of Antibiotic with PAN and Cationic-Dyeable PET Fibers in Development of Infection Resistant Biomedical Materials

  • Interaction of a representative antibiotic, doxycycline(Doxy), with commercial poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) and cationic-dyeable poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) fiber was studied in development of infection resistant biomedical materials. Regular PET was also employed for a comparison purpose. Their interactions were investigated at different treatment temperatures, times, and pHs. Fibers were also hydrolyzed by 1% NaOH for 1 or 2 hours at $85^{\circ}C\;and\;100{\circ}C$ to study effect of hydrolysis on antibiotic sorption. Infection-resistant characteristics of the substrates were evaluated by zone of inhibition (ZOI) test. Results revealed that a significant chemical change occurred in PAN and cationic-dyeable PET due to hydrolysis. Additional functional groups obtained by hydrolysis not only enhanced sorption of the antibiotics but also provided greater ZOI values, indicating substantial improvement in sustained infection resistance properties.

Characterization of a Cross-linked Polymer Electrolyte Prepared from Oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylates-Acrylonitrile

  • A cross-linked solid polymer electrolyte was prepared by copolymerizing photochemically acrylonitrile (AN), oligo(ethylene glycol ethyl ether) methacrylate, oligo(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate in the presence of lithium perchlorate as a lithium salt, ethylene carbonate-propylene carbonate as a mixed plasticizer, and poly(ethylene oxide) as a polymer matrix. The maximum ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolyte was 2.35$\times$10$\^$-3/ S/cm. The interface resistance of the polymer electrolyte was very low compared to that of the polymer electrolyte without AN. The former electrolyte was stable up to 4.3 V and the Ah efficiency was nearly 100% during the charge-discharge cycle.

  • 아크릴로니트릴 제조공정 중 부산물로 생성되는 물과 아세토니트릴 공비혼합물을 분비, 회수하기 위하여 혼합용매로서 toluene-ethylacetate를 선택하여 $25^{\circ}C$에서 4성분계 toluene(1)-water(2)-acetonitrile(3)-ethylacetate(4)에 대한 액-액평형 데이터를 구하였다. Tie-line 계산치를 예측하기 위하여 실험치를 UNIFA 모델식의 파라미터와 상호연관시켜 비교하였다. 또한 용매의 성능을 비교하기 위하여 분배계수 및 선택도를 고찰하였다.

에어백용 고분자 혼합물의 열안정성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Thermal Stability of Polymer Mixtures using Air Bags)

  • Sodium azide (SA) is commonly used as propellant for inflating automatic safety bags and other chemical manufacturing purposes. The investigation of potentially thermal hazard of sodium azide and its mixture with polymers are very important because it can occur an expected traffic accident so we took a experiment s using different scanning calorimeter (DSC) in nitrogen atmosphere. The decomposition temperature were about $350{\sim}450^{\circ}C$. We could find not only exothermic reaction was remarkably decreased in mixture s of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), but also increasing mixed rate of ABS, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) decreased thermal decomposition heat.

온도변화에 따른 플라스틱의 진동감쇠특성 (Damping Properties of Plastic with Temperature Variation)

  • It is well known that the loss factor and Young's modulus are fundamental mechanical properties of materials. Recently, the use of complex plastics is increasing for vibration proof. In this study, we evaluated two mechanical values of polycarbonate and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene by using two different standard test methods of ASTM E 756 and ISO 6721. Because damping properties of material generally depend on temperature, test specimen‘s temperature were controlled in the temperature range between - $10^{\circ}C\;and\;60^{\circ}C$. The results shown that the loss factor of polycarbonate gradually increased as increasing temperature, while the Young's modulus decreased. However, the loss factor and the Young's modulus of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene are varied somewhat at $60^{\circ}C$.

PVC의 방사선 가교와 열수축 특성 (Radiation Crosslinking and Shrinkable Properties of PVC)

  • PVC에 acrylonitrile butadiene rubber(NBR), 가교제, 가소제를 첨가하여 블렌딩하고 난 다음 방사선 조사하여 이들의 겔화율, 신장률, 열변형률 및 열수축 특성을 검토하였다. 가교제의 종류에 따른 겔화율은 단위중량당 불포화도가 높은 가교제일수록 컸으며, PVC에 NBR을 혼합하면 가교제나 가소제의 종류에 관계없이 NBR을 혼합하지 않은 것에 비해 월등히 향상되었다. 겔화율과 열변형률과의 관계에서 겔화율은 방사선 조사량의 증가에 따라 증가하였고 열변형률은 현격히 감소하였다. 열수축률은 연신온도가 낮을수록 또한 annealing 온도가 높을수록 증가하는 경향을 보였다.
