UV curable pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) was made by blending the di-functional or hexa-functional urethane-acrylate oligomer with synthesized acrylic PSA. The change of adhesive property and removability were investigated at various oligomer contents under each oligomer. As the content of oligomer increased, the peel strength was increased before UV irradiation, but it was decreased after UV irradiation. Also, it was observed that the peel strength increased with decrease of storage modulus (G'), and that loss factor (tan ${\delta}$) of the adhesive material affected the adhesive properties and removability.

Various concrete material technologies and new materials have been developed in accordance with the advancement of buildings. As part of these new technologies, light transparent concrete, which was invented by Hungarian architect Aron Losonczi and attracted worldwide attention, has a technique of arranging optical fiber inside concrete and transmitting the light from exterior to concrete to show silhouette inside. However, due to many disadvantages, application to the field was limited and commercialization was not easy. In Korea, Light Emotion Friendly Concrete has been developed for commercialization. In order to solve the degradation of construction performance caused by the arrangement of expensive optical fiber, which is pointed out as a disadvantage of translucent concrete, It converts expensive fiber into low cost acrylic rod, easy to arrange, pre-assembled to form and post-cast. Therefore, this study aims to improve the mechanical properties of LEFC and to derive optimal combination.
We have studied on the surface and adhesion properties for acrylic terpolymers, having both hydrophobic and hydrophilic side chains, synthesized via solution polymerization. In order to develop a waterborne material. we tried to synthesize these terpolymers via emulsion polymerization. The polymeric emulsion synthesized was mainly composed of methyl methacrylate (MMA), methoxy-polyethyleneglycol methacrylate (MPEGMA) having hydrophilic side chains and methoxypolypropyleneglycol methacrylate (MPEGMA) having hydrophobic side chains. The viscosities of this series increased with an increase in the content of the co-monomer such as MPEGMA and (MPEGMA). This behavior resulted in the increase in the diameter and heterogeneity of the emulsion particle via AFM observation. Furthermore. the tensile adhesion strength and 90-degree peel strength of the adhesive of these polymeric emulsions were measured. In the case of polymeric emulsion composed of the same content of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic component, the adhesion property showed the highest value. However, since the adhesion properties as a practical applicable adhesive were poor, some improvements were required. When the composition above was modified with butyl acrylate (BA), the improvement effect on adhesion strength was accepted. In particular, 90-degree peel strength increased up to a maximum of 400% of the original value.

3D printing technology is a processing technology in which 3D structures are formed by fabricating multiple 2D layers of materials based on 3D designed digital data and stacking them layer by layer. Although layers are stacked using inkjet printing to release various materials, it is still rare for research to successfully form a product as an additive manufacture of multi-materials. In this study, dispersion conditions are optimized by adding a dispersant to an acrylic monomer suitable for inkjet printing using Co3O4 and Al2O3. 3D structures having continuous composition composed of a different ceramic material are manufactured by printing using two UV curable ceramic inks whose optimization is advanced. After the heat treatment, the produced structure is checked for the formation and color of the desired crystals by comparing the crystalline analysis according to the characteristics of each part of the structure with ceramic pigments made by solid phase synthesis method.
Ear keloids are challenging lesions to treat due to high recurrence rates postexcision. Conservative compression techniques as adjunct treatment have been reported to be effective. An innovative technique of using computer-aided design/computed-aided manufacturing to print a customized auricular splint improves efficiency and comfort level for patients compared with conventional methods. The ear is scanned using an intraoral scanning 2 weeks postsurgery. A two-piece auricular splint is designed on the digital model, incorporating perforated projections for three nylon screws for retention of the splint. The splint is printed with clear acrylic material, postprocessed, and finished. The patient is taught to assemble the components of the splint and instructed to wear for at least 8 hours daily. The surgery site reviewed for any ulceration, pain, or recurrence of keloid for 6 months. During the 6-month review, the excision scar remained flat and pink. The patient also reports unrestricted daily activities. The digital workflow increases comfort for the patient and reduces the number of hours required to produce a customized auricular splint compared with conventional methods. A fully digital workflow for a printed auricular splint should be considered for adjunctive treatment to excision of ear keloids.

We have developed the prototypes of superconducting magnetic separation system with high temperature superconductor wire. This separation filter system consist of magnetized matrix SUS430 wire and acrylic frame. This study introduced rolled steel process coolant wastewater applied superconductor HGMS(High Gradient Magnetic Separation). HGMS treatment have acted high efficient method for various wastewater. We have surveyed superconducting magnetic separation technology and reviewed the status of related industries using applied superconductivity. In our basic preliminary experiment using HGMS, it was made clear that the fine para-magnetic particles in the wastewater obtained from rolling process of steel can be separated with high efficiency. We investigated the ability of magnetic flock formation, which used inorganic materials and polymer coagulants. We had a purpose to remove SS of coolant at steel factory. Maximum coagulation remove rate of SS 98%. Removing ratio of $Fe_3O_4$ fine particles in wastewater showed over than 99% in the wastewater containing magnetic fines after four times of repetition of separation.
Ionomer is a thermoplastic that is composed of covalent bonds and ionic bonds. It is possible to use this material in processes such as injection molding or extrusion molding due to the material's high oil resistance, weatherproof characteristics, and shock resistance. In this study, a new ionomer having a multifunctional group was prepared by a stepwise neutralization system with the addition of acidic and salt additives. In step I, to increase the contents of the multifunctional group and the acid degree in ethylene acrylic acid (EAA), MGA was added to the ionomer resin (EAA). A new ionomer was prepared via the traditional preparation method of the ionic cross-linking process. In step II, metal salt was added to the mixture of EAA and MGA. The extrusion process was performed using a twin extruder (L/D = 40, size : ${\varphi}30$). Ionomer film was prepared for evaluation of gas permeability by using the compression molding process. The degree of neutralized and ionic cross-linked new ionomer was confirmed by FT-IR and XRD analysis. In order to estimate the neutralization of the new ionomer film, various properties such as gas permeation and mechanical properties were measured. The physical strength and anti-scratch property of the new ionomer were improved with increase of the neutralization degree. The gas barrier property of the new ionomer was improved through the introduction of an ionic site. Also, the ionic degree of cross-linking and gas barrier property of the ionomer membrane prepared by stepwise neutralization were increased.
Statement of problem. Use of the conventional dental impression procedure is problematic in patients who have difficulty opening their mouth, difficulty breathing through their nose or tendency to gag. Purpose. It is necessary to make individual trays more comfortable for patients during impression taking procedure. It was reported at the KAP Annual Meeting 2001 Seoul that an improved impression technique was suitable for this purpose. In this study, the accuracy of the improved dental impression method for implant was compared with the conventional dental impression method. Material and methods. An oral simulator was made from clear acrylic resin block which had similar form of edentulous ridge. For setting up the standard, five fixtures were installed on it. Study casts were made using two kinds of impression techniques. One was the conventional method that was taken using silicone impression material and an individual resin tray under connection of inter-fixture relation. The other was the improved method in which was the connection of the impression coping and the thermoformed polymethyl methacrylate tray. In addition, two different study casts were made from the improved impression body. The coordinates of the fixture on the study model were measured by three-dimensional coordinate measuring equipment. Then the distances between each fixture were calculated and compared with that of oral simulator. Accuracy of the each impression method was also assessed. Results. The differences of inter-fixture dimension between study casts and simulator in the improved impression technique showed $0.014{\pm}0.016mm$ and $0.017{\pm}0.022mm$, respectively and that of the conventional method was $0.017{\pm}0.014mm$. There was no significant difference between the improved impression technique and conventional method. Conclusion. The improved impression technique is useful for multiple support implants.
Background: We are developing a small size dosimeter for dose estimation in particle therapies. The developed dosimeter is an optical fiber based dosimeter mounting an radiation induced luminescence material, such as an OSL or a scintillator, at a tip. These materials generally suffer from the quenching effect under high LET particle irradiation. Materials and Methods: We fabricated two types of the small size dosimeters. They used an OSL material Eu:BaFBr and a BGO scintillator. Carbon ions were irradiated into the fabricated dosimeters at Heavy Ion Medical Accelerator in Chiba (HIMAC). The small size dosimeters were set behind the water equivalent acrylic phantom. Bragg peak was observed by changing the phantom thickness. An ion chamber was also placed near the small size dosimeters as a reference. Results and Discussion: Eu:BaFBr and BGO dosimeters showed a Bragg peak at the same thickness as the ion chamber. Under high LET particle irradiation, the response of the luminescence-based small size dosimeters deteriorated compared with that of the ion chamber due to the quenching effect. We confirmed the luminescence efficiency of Eu:BaFBr and BGO decrease with the LET. The reduction coefficient of luminescence efficiency was different between the BGO and the Eu:BaFBr. The LET can be determined from the luminescence ratio between Eu:BaFBr and BGO, and the dosimeter response can be corrected. Conclusion: We evaluated the LET dependence of the luminescence efficiency of the BGO and Eu:BaFBr as the quenching effect. We propose and discuss the correction of the quenching effect using the signal intensity ratio of the both materials. Although the correction precision is not sufficient, feasibility of the proposed correction method is proved through basic experiments.
Speech intelligibility in patients with complete dentures is an important clinical problem depending on the material used. The objective of this study was to investigate the speech of two edentulous subjects fitted with a complete maxillary prosthesis made of two different palatal materials: chrome-cobalt alloy and acrylic resin. Three patients with complete dentures in the experiment group and ten people in the controls groups participated in the experiment. CSL, Visi-Pitch were used to measure speech characteristics. The test words consisted of a simple vowel /e/, meaningless three syllabic words containing fricative, affricated and stops sounds, and sustained fricative sounds /s/ and /$\int$/. The analysis speech parameters were vowel and lateral formants, VOT, sound durations, sound pressure level and fricative frequency. Data analysis was conducted by a series of paired T-test. The findings like the following: (1) Vowel formant one of patients with complete denture is higher than that of the control group (p<0.05), while lateral formant three of patients with complete denture is lower than that of the control group (p<0.0l). (2) Patients with complete denture produced lower speech intelligibility with low fricative frequency (/$\int$/) than control group (p<0.0). The speech intelligibility of patients with metal prosthesis was higher than that of those with resin prosthesis (p<0.05). (3) Fricative, lateral and stop sound durations of patients with complete denture were longer than those of the control group (p<0.01 and p<0.05), respectively. Total sound durations of patients with metal prosthesis were similar to that of the control group (p<0.05), while those with resin prosthesis had a shorter duration (p<0.01). This implied that those with metal prosthesis had higher speech intelligibility than those with resin prosthesis. (4) Patients with complete denture had higher sound pressure levels /t/ and /c/ than the control group (p<0.01). However, sound pressure levels for /c/ of patients with metal prosthesis or resin prosthesis was similar to the control group (p<0.05). (5) Patients with complete denture had higher fundamental frequency than the control group (p<0.01).
