The incorporation of 90 nm alumina particles into an epoxy matrix to form a composite microstructure is described in present study. It is shown that the use of ultrafine particles results in a substantial change in the behavior of the composite, which can be traced to the mitigation of internal charges when a comparison is made with conventional
Although data analysis in earlier days had been sufficiently done only by character user interface, users of these days are more used to the graphic user interface and the requirements for the user interface are gradually varying and increasing. In order to meet users' various wants and needs and to develop well-equipped interface, not only software developers but also professional designers who can complement the technique of the developers are needed. But in reality there are many restrictions and difficulties for developers and designers to work together cooperatively. Moreover, developing user interface in use of 3D type of graphics and animation techniques causes the rise of the developing cost. The thesis attempts to design and implement 3D visualization for real-time sensor data collected by the various environmental sensor and measuring devices, by using WPF (Window Presentation Foundation) which can make both developers and designers work together cooperatively and which makes it possible to implement various multimedia functions such as a 2D and 3D type of graphics, animation techniques, and an acoustic effect.
In the underwater communications, transmitted acoustic signal is corrupted by interference from multipath. A parametric array transducer is capable of radiating a narrow beam with very low sidelobe levels. In certain cases, the parametric array transducer can help the multipath problem. To improve the performance of the underwater communications, the statistical signal processing methods will be required. In the paper, the communication system using a parametric array transducer was demonstrated. To detect the received signal of the communication system based on the on-off keying, the maximum likelihood method using averaged signal for a particular window size is used. The communication system has GUI using LebVIEW which allows the user to change the parameter. The GUI can also be easily modified based on the characteristics of a parametric array transducer. The implemented system can effectively evaluate the performance of the parametric array transducer.
In building envelope, transparent components play an important role. The structural glazing systems are the weak element of the casing in terms of mechanical resistance, thermal and acoustic insulation. In the present work, new structural glass panels with granular aerogel in interspace were investigated from different points of view. In particular, the mechanical characterization was carried out in order to assess the resistance to bending of the single glazing pane. To this end, a special instrument system was built to define an alternative configuration of the coaxial double ring test, able to predict the fracture strength of glass large samples (400 × 400 mm) without overpressure. The thermal and lighting performance of an innovative double-glazing façade with granular aerogel was evaluated. An experimental campaign at pilot scale was developed: it is composed of two boxes of about 1.60 × 2 m2 and 2 m high together with an external weather station. The rooms, identical in terms of size, construction materials, and orientation, are equipped with a two-wing window in the south wall surface: the first one has a standard glazing solution (double glazing with air in interspace), the second room is equipped with the innovative double-glazing system with aerogel. The indoor mean air temperature and the surface temperature of the glass panes were monitored together with the illuminance data for the lighting characterization. Finally, a brief energy characterization of the performance of the material was carried out by means of dynamic simulation models when the proposed solution is applied to real case studies.
Purpose: Many factors influence the occurrence and severity of geriatric trauma, and regional weather is regarded as one factor that influences geriatric trauma. In this study, to predict the type, severity, and incidence of geriatric trauma patient, we analyzed the influence of regional weather on geriatric trauma. Methods: The subjects of our investigation were trauma patients over sixty-five years of age who visited the Emergency Department (ED) of Yeungnam University Hospital during a one-year period. We retrospectively reviewed the medical charts of 436 geriatric trauma patients, and the data were analyzed by using SPSS 12.0 for Window. The weather was based on data from the Korea Meteorological Administration. Results: The average age was 72.8 years old, and the ratio of males to females was 1:1.1. The mean spell out ISS was 10.8, and no difference was found between males and females. Slips were the most common cause of trauma. The largest numbers of aged trauma patients, 46, visited the ED in May, and the smallest number of such patients, 24, visited the ED in December. In addition to, summer saw the largest number of aged trauma patients. The type of trauma, the Injury Severity Score, and the number of patients had no relationship with season. On sunny days, the ISS was larger in patients who had hypotension and who had tachycardia. On rainy day, the ISS was larger in male patients and cultivator accident patients. The number of patients was larger on partly cloudy days. Conclusion: In spring and summer and on partly cloudy days, we must be prepared to treat aged traumatized patients in the E.D. On rainy days, visual sensation, tactual sense, and acoustic sense must be closely examined. In addition,on rainy day, aged male traumatized patients or cultivator accident patients must to be closely observation.
An inversion method is presented for the determination of the compressional wave speed, compressional wave attenuation, thickness of the sediment layer and density as a function of depth for a horizontally stratified ocean bottom. An experiment for estimating those properties was conducted in the shallow water of South Sea in Korea. In the experiment, a light bulb implosion and the propagating sound were measured using a VLA (vertical line array). As a method for estimating the geoacoustic properties, a coherent broadband matched field processing combined with Genetic Algorithm was employed. When a time-dependent signal is very short, the Fourier transform results are not accurate, since the frequency components are not locatable in time and the windowed Fourier transform is limited by the length of the window. However, it is possible to do this using the wavelet transform a transform that yields a time-frequency representation of a signal. In this study, this transform is used to identify and extract the acoustic components from multipath time series. The inversion is formulated as an optimization problem which maximizes the cost function defined as a normalized correlation between the measured and modeled signals in the wavelet transform coefficient vector. The experiments and procedures for deploying the light bulbs and the coherent broadband inversion method are described, and the estimated geoacoustic profile in the vicinity of the VLA site is presented.
In USA and UK, the standards of both reverberation time and background noise level have been established for the appropriate aural environment in classrooms. In order to realize this, guidelines for architectural planning and interior finishing have been also suggested. However, in Korea, there has hardly been any guidelines for satisfying background noise criteria and investigation about sound insulation performance of current walls of classrooms. The present study investigates the structure of outer wall and walls between classrooms of two middle schools in order to analyze the sound insulation performance against both exterior and interior noises. Acoustic parameters including transmission loss, standardized sound level difference, and signal to noise ratio have been measured and analyzed for sound insulation performance of walls and flanking noises. As a result, concerning the walls in between classrooms, it was found that walls of dry construction have greater sound insulation performance rather than the walls of wet construction especially in mid and high frequency bands. Also, It was revealed that thermopane, insulated pair glass, of outer walls, has greater sound insulation performance than the double window consisted of two single pane glass. Regarding flanking noises, the standards were exceeded when all windows, or windows and doors front onto corridor were opened. It denotes that students could be disturbed with the sound transmission by the interior noises.
We have studied to obtain the frequency characteristics of the Surface Acoustic Wave(SAW) bandpass filter, having low shape factor, it's interdigital transducer(IDT) was formed on the 35° Y-cut X-propagation Quartz substrate and was evaporated by Aluminium. And then, we performed computer-simulation by a simulator. And, we can design that the apodization weighted type IDT as an input transducer of the filter and the withdrawal weighted type IDT as an output transducer of the filter from the results of our computer-simulation. Also, we have employed that the number of pairs of the input and output IDT are 2200 pairs and 1000pairs, respectively and used the Kaiser-Bessel window function in order to minimize the effect of ripple. And, while the width and the space of IDT's finger are 6㎛ m and 5.75㎛, respectively and we could obtain the resonable results when the IDT thickness was 6000Å in consideration of the ratio of SAW's wavelength, and IDT aperture is 2mm. Frequency response of the fabricated SAW bandpass filter has the property that the center frequency is about 70MHz, shape factor is less than 1.3, bandwidth at the 1.5dB is probably 1.3MHz, out-band attenuation is almost -45dB, insertion loss is 19dB and ripple in the width of bandpass is 1dB approximately. Therefore, these frequency characteristics of the fabricated SAW bandpass filter are agreed well with the designed values.
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70
