A channel is very sever in an underwater acoustic communication. Therefore, a modulation method with high spectrum efficiency is needed in an underwater acoustic communication. PSK(phase shift keying) for transmitting 1 bit or 2 bits is robust to noise, but sensitive to noise about more than 3 bits. CPFSK error performance for transmitting 1 bit or 2 bits is similar to that of PSK and CPFSK decreases high frequency components in modulation signal. In the paper, I analyze the performance of trellis coded 4-CPFSK modulation.
Numerical prediction of aerodynamic noise radiated by subsonic rotors are carried out. A computer program has been developed which incorporates both the discrete frequency noise as well as the broadband noise arising from the ingestion of turbulence. Acoustic analogy is used in conjunction with Homicz's formulation of turbulence ingestion noise. Formulation 1A of Farassat is used to enhance the numerical analysis performance of Ffowcs-Williams Hawkings equation by eliminating the numericla time differentiation. Homicz's trubulence ingestion noise prediction technique is used to understand the characteristics of broadband noise radiated by isotropic trubulence in gestion. Numerical predictions are carried out for a number of rotor configurations and compared with experimental data. Monopole consideration of transonic rotor agrees well with both the experimental data and the linear theory. Noise radiation characteristics of rotor at lifting hover are investigated utilizing simple blade loading obtained by thin wing section theory. By incorporating discrete noise prediction of steady loading with broadband spectrum, much better agreement with experimental data is obtained in the low frequency region. The contributions from different noise mechanisms can also be analyzed through this method.

In this study, low noise designs of a Savonius wind turbines are numerically investigated. From a previous study, it was found that the high harmonic components whose fundamental frequency is higher than the BPF were found to be dominant in noise spectrum of a Savonius wind turbine. On a basis of this observation, S-shaped blade tip is proposed as a low design factors that decrease wind turbine noise by inducing phase differences in vortex shedding. The conventional Savonius and S-shaped turbines are investigated using Hybrid CAA method where flow field around the turbine are computed using CFD techniques and the radiated noise are predicted by applying acoustic analogy to the computed flow data. Noise reductions by these design factors are confirmed by comparing the predicted noise levels from these turbines.

Axial fans are widely used in heavy machines due to their ability to produce high flow rate for cooling of engines. At the same time, the noise generated by these fans causes one of the most serious problems. This work is concerned with the low noise technique of discrete frequency noise. To calculate the unsteady resultant force over the fan blade in an unsymmetric engine room. Time-Marching Free-Wake Method is used. From the calculations of unsteady force on fan blades, noise signal of an engine cooling fan is calculated by using an acoustic similarity law. Noise optimization is obtained from Neural Network which is constructed based on the calculated flow rate and noise spectrum.

In relation to a non-destructive evaluation of irradiation damages of micro-structure interstitial, void and dislocation, the changes in the hysteresis loop, Barkhausen noise amplitude and the harmonics frequency due to a neutron irradiation were measured and evaluated. The Mn-Mo-Ni low alloy steel of RPV was irradiated to a neutron fluence of $2.3\times10^{19}\;n/cm^2\;(E\geq1\;MeV)\;at\;288^{\circ}C$. The saturation magnetization of neutron irradiated metal did not change. The neutron irradiation caused the coercivity to increase, whereas susceptibility to decrease. The amplitude of Barkhausen noise parameters associated with the domain wall motion were decreased by a neutron irradiation. The spectrum of Barkhausen noise is analysed with an applied frequency of 4 Hz and 8 Hz, sampling time of $50\;{\mu}sec\;and\;20\;{\mu}sec$. The harmonic frequency shows 4 Hz, 8 Hz, 12 Hz; and 16 Hz reflected from an unirradiated specimen. On the contrary, the harmonic frequency disappeared on the irradiated specimen.

The paper describes the prediction method for the unsteady flow field and the aeroacoustic noise of an small axial fan. The prediction method is comprised of various CFD conditions and acoustic analogy by using Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings equation. The diameter of tested axial fan is 170 mm and number of blade is 5. Virtual anechoic room which has same size with real one was used for CFD. URANS and LES models were used. For mesh dependence study, a different mesh type was tested and optimized mesh was selected. Calculation conditions were also studied such as time step and turbulence model for accurate noise analysis. In this paper, we got optimum analysis conditions and computational results. The unsteady pressure fluctuation at given 4 points were compared between the measured data and computational results. Also, the predicted acoustic spectrum at 3 given microphone points were compared with measured ones.
The objective of this paper is to obtain the contribution of each source to the spectrum of pressure, when there are multiple incoherent sources in near-field acoustic holography. For this objective, we have to obtain signals very coherent to the input signals of the sources. To obtain the very coherent signals, many people have measured pressure signals in the vincinity of the sources. However, it is sometimes difficult to locate microphones near to the sources so that the signals are very coherent to the input signals. This paper proposed a method to obtain the very coherent signals by near-field acoustic holography. Therefore, the proposed method does not require the measurement of pressure near to each source. Simulation results for two incoherent monopole sources showed the possibility of the proposed method.
The prediction of sound pressure using acoustic holography has been recognized as a useful tool for the visualization of sound field. Cylindrical acoustic holography amongst acoustic holographic methods planar, spherical, and cylindrical ones-has a wide range of application since its rather simple construction and easy implementation for the sources. To utilize the propery of cylindrical holographic method, estimation errors associated with holographic parameters such as aperture size and sampling space must be envisaged. In this these errors have been studied by numerical simulation and the relation between the errors and the spectrum in wavenumber domain is described. The results are also confirmed by simple experiments.
A new method is proposed for the isolation of resonances from scattered waves for the isolaton of resonances from scattered waves for acoustic wave resonance scattering problems. The resonance scattering function consisting purely of resonance information is defined. Acoustic wave scattering from a variety of submerged bodies is numerically analyzed. The classical resonance scattering theory (RST) and the new method compute identical magnitudes of the resonances from each partial wave, however, the phases are significantly different. The exact $\pi$-radians phase shifts through the resonance and anti-resonance frequencies show that the proposed method properly extracts the vibrational resonance information of the scatterer. Due to the differences in phases of the resonances from each partial wave, the new method and RST generate different total resonance spectra.

Numerical predictions of aerodynamic noise radiated by subsonic rotors are carried out. A time domain approach for Ffowcs-Williams Hawkings equation of acoustic analogy is used in developing a comprehensive rotor/fan noise prediction program to handle both arbitrary blade shapes and loading conditions. Since only the aeroacoustic aspects of rotors are considered here, the calculations are carried out for rotors with simple aerodynamic characteristics. Broadband noise from ingestion of turbulence is also considered. By incorporating discrete frequency noise prediction of steady loading with broadband spectrum, much better correlation at the low frequency region with experimental data is obtaind. The contributions from different noise mechanisms can also be analysed through this method.
