  • Abnormal operating sounds radiated from a moving transfer robot in LCD (liquid crystal display) product lines have been used for the fault detection line of a robot instead of other source signals such as vibrations, acoustic emissions, and electrical signals. Its advantage as a source signal makes it possible to monitor the status of multiple faults by using only a microphone, despite a relatively low sensitivity. The wavelet packet transform for feature extraction and the artificial neural network for fault classification are employed. It can be observed that the abnormal operating sound is sufficiently useful as a source signal for the fault diagnosis of mechanical components as well as other source signals.

  • Induction motors are the workhorse of our industry because of their versatility and robustness. The diagnosis of mechanical load and power transmission system failures is usually carried out through mechanical signals such as vibration signatures, acoustic emissions, motor speed envelope. The motor faults including mechanical rotor imbalances, broken rotor bar, bearing failure and eccentricities problems are reflected in electric, electromagnetic and mechanical quantities. The recent research has been directed toward electrical monitoring of the motor with emphasis on inspecting the stator current of the motor, The stator current spectrum has been widely used for fault detection in induction motor systems. The motor current signature analysis is the useful technique to assess machine electrical condition. This paper describes the motor condition detected by the current signatures Paralleled with vibration signatures analysis of induction motors with the roller bearing and the journal bearing type for large vertical pumps in power plant as examples to discuss for motor fault detection and diagnosis.

  • Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is researched in various filed. Underwater Sensor Network (UWSN) is used various purpose such as underwater environment monitoring. But, WSN is researched in the terrestrial that uses mainly radio frequency, The existing terrestrial research is incongruent to apply to underwater. Therefore, we propose UWSN architecture that considers underwater environment. In this paper, UWSN applied cluster technique and functional node constructs. Each cluster collects and sends cluster data. Dual super cluster head receives cluster data and transmits each in the base-station. We implement WSN routing algorithm, and construct test-bed and analyze cluster data receive rate.

  • In this research, a vision system for detecting breakages of small-diameter taps, which are rarely detected by the indirect in-process monitoring methods such as acoustic emission, cutting torque and motor current, was developed. Two HMI (Human Machine Interface) programs to embed the developed vision system into a Siemens open architecture controller, 840D, were developed. They are placed in sub-windows of the main window of the 840D and can be activated or deactivated either by a softkey on the operating panel or the M code in the NC part program. In the event that any type of tool breakage is detected, the HMI program issues a command for an automatic tool change or sends an alarm signal to the NC kernel. An evaluation test in a high-speed tapping machine showed that the developed vision system was successful in detecting breakages of small-diameter taps up to M1.

  • Two specimens of mortar containing artificial slit and Geochang granite containing the straight notch were selected to be used in this research. Source mechanism of micro-crack by radiation pattern based on dislocation the-ory was estimated by the first motion of longitudinal wave and spatial distribution between the location of transducers for monitoring acoustic emission and source coordinates determined by the application of the least square method. Result of analysis showed that the orientation of dislocation surfaces due to shear dislocation and tensile dislocation squares considerably with crack direction visually observed. The ultimate goal of this study is to provide fundamental information for source mechanism of micro-crack within materials.

  • Water infusion has long been taken as an effective way to eliminate coal burst risk as coal properties can be loosen and soften by water infusion. However, not all industrial trials of water infusion for coal burst prevention have been necessarily effective in all situations as the effectiveness of this method can be affected by water infusion time, coal properties and the parameters of water injection. Hence, some fundamental issues including the effects of water infusion time on burst propensity and energy evolution need to be further discussed. In this paper, four groups of coal specimens with 0 day, 5 days, 10 days, and 15 days water saturation time are tested under uniaxial compression load with the application of AE monitoring. To comprehensively compare the burst behavior of coal specimens under different water saturation time, stress-strain curves, AE counts, fragmentation characteristics and burst propensity of these groups are analyzed. It was found by this research that sufficient water saturation can mitigate the burst behavior of coal samples while insufficient water infusion might cannot reach the burst mitigation aims.

  • 5th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Weather (AR5) predicts that recent severe hydrological events will affect the quality of water and increase water pollution. To analyze changes in water quality due to future climate change, input data (precipitation, average temperature, relative humidity, average wind speed, and solar radiation) were compiled into a representative concentration curve (RC), defined using 8.5. AR5 and future use are calculated based on land use. Semi-distributed emission model Calculate emissions for each target period. Meteorological factors affecting water quality (precipitation, temperature, and flow) were input into a multiple linear regression (MLR) model and an artificial neural network (ANN) to analyze the data. Extensive experimental studies of flow properties have been carried out. In addition, an Acoustic Doppler Velocity (ADV) device was used to monitor the flow of a large open channel connection in a wastewater treatment plant in Ho Chi Minh City. Observations were made along different streams at different locations and at different depths. Analysis of measurement data shows average speed profile, aspect ratio, vertical position Measure, and ratio the vertical to bottom distance for maximum speed and water depth. This result indicates that the transport effect of the compound was considered when preparing the hazard analysis.

  • Vibration condition monitoring of low-speed rotational slewing bearings is essential ever since it became necessary for a proper maintenance schedule that replaces the slewing bearings installed in massive machinery in the steel industry, among other applications. So far, acoustic emission(AE) is still the primary technique used for dealing with low-speed bearing cases. Few studies employed vibration analysis because the signal generated as a result of the impact between the rolling element and the natural defect spots at low rotational speeds is generally weak and sometimes buried in noise and other interference frequencies. In order to increase the impact energy, some researchers generate artificial defects with a predetermined length, width, and depth of crack on the inner or outer race surfaces. Consequently, the fault frequency of a particular fault is easy to identify. This paper presents the applications of empirical mode decomposition(EMD) and ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD) for measuring vibration signals slewing bearings running at a low rotational speed of 15 rpm. The natural vibration damage data used in this paper are obtained from a Korean industrial company. In this study, EEMD is used to support and clarify the results of the fast Fourier transform(FFT) in identifying bearing fault frequencies.

  • In this study, hydrophones using acoustic sensors were used to estimate the amount of bedload discharge in a forested watershed. The reaction characteristics were analyzed through hydrophone flume tests and field tests, and the quantitative bedload discharge was calculated and compared with that measured by a pit sampler. The hydrophone reaction changed the pulse according to the flow rate change, but did not react to standard sand. The pulse was different depending on the particle size and weight, and accordingly, there was a specific channel showing a suitable response. For a hydrophone installed in the field, by using an automatic impact device, the reaction characteristics of each channel were analyzed to confirm normal operation of the sensor and the suitability of the output value of each channel. In addition, a suitable channel was selected for the estimation of bedload discharge. The bedload discharge formula was developed using a hydrophone pulse and the average flow rate, and was compared with the measured data in the pit sampler in the study site. As a result of the study, if a hydrophone is used for monitoring the bedload in forested watersheds, it is considered effective in quantitatively estimating the weight of bedload discharge.
