  • The purpose of this study is to confirm the decreasing problems of residual bending strength, and the fracture machanism experimentally when CFRP composite laminates are subjected to Foreign Object Damage. Composite laminates used for this experiment are CFRP orthotropy laminated plates, which have two-interfaces [O/sub 6//sup o//90/sub 6//sup o/]sub sym/ and four-interfaces [O/sub 3//sup o//90/sub 6//sup o//O/sub 3//sup o]/sub sym/. When the specimen is subjected to transverse impact by a steel ball, the delamination area generated by impact damage is observed by using SAM(Scanning Acoustic Microscope). also, Thefracture surfaces obtained by three-point bending test were observed by using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). Then, fracture mechanism was investigated based on the observed delamination area and fracture surface. The results were summarized as follows; (1) It is found that for the specimen with more interface, the critical delamination energy is increased while delamination-development energy is decreased. (2) Residual bending strength of specimen A is greater than that of Specimen B within the impact range of impact energy 1. 65J (impacted-side compression) and 1. 45J (impacted-side tension). On the other hand, when the impact energy is beyond the above ranges, residual bending strength of specimen A is smaller than that of specimen B. (3) In specimen A and B, residual strength of CFRP plates subjected to impact damage is lower in the impacted-side compression than in the impacted-side tension. (4) In the case of impacted-side compression, fracture is propagated from the transverse crack generat-ed near impact point. On the other hand, fracture is developed toward the impact point from the edge of interface-B delamination in the case of impacted-side tension.

  • As one of the effective methods for researching the objective tinnitus detection, the GPIAS (Gap Pre-pulse Inhibition of Acoustic Startle) measurement has been used to verify the existence of animal tinnitus objectively. The level and pattern of the background sound presented prior to a startle pulse are closely related with the GPIAS results. But the effect of the starting point of the background sound on animal startle responses has not been reported yet. In this paper, we present the implementation of a GPIAS measurement system based on an unconstrained enclosure to avoid animals' excessive constraint stress and deal with the animals' growth. After the performance of our implemented system has been tested through the animal experiment using 4 SD-rats, the effect of starting point of stimulus background sound on the startle response has been studied by the use of our implemented system. Through the results, it is verified that our system can measure the inhibition of animal startle responses due the gap pre-pulse for GPIAS calculation and the background sound starting point does not significantly effect on the startle response and the GPIAS values if the background sound continues for more than 300msec before a gap pre-pulse is presented.

  • The ride quality has become a key component of not only design but car selling as the technology developed and the requirement of passengers grew up. Thus car industry invests lots of time and cost for the higher ride quality. The evaluation of the ride quality mainly is expressed by subjective element that drivers felt. In this paper, instead of the original transfer path analysis method, relatively new methods such as OPAX(Operational path analysis with eXogeneous inputs) and OTPA(operational transfer path analysis) are used for analyzing the main hindrance element of ride quality. With those new method, contribution rate of all paths that the vibration propagate along analyzed after driving test on the roads having different characteristic. The comprehensive hindrance elements of ride quality are deduced from the contribution rate and the improve experiment by changing one of hindrance elements for higher ride quality.

  • This paper compared wired Acoustic Emission (AE) signals with wireless AE signals. According to the material and process condition, each process signal has distinguishable characteristic to show each removal phenomenon. Therefore, wired and wireless AE sensors having different bandwidth are complementary for CMP process monitoring. Especially, the AE sensor was used to investigate abrasive and molecular-scale phenomena during CMP process, which was compatible to acquire high level frequency. In experiment, wireless AE system was used to get signals in rotary system, using bluetooth. But, it is possible to acquire only RMS signals, which can not analyze abrasive and molecular-sale phenomena. Second, wired AE system was installed using mercury slip-ring, which is suitable not only for rotation equipment but also for acquiring original signals. The acquired signals were analyzed by FFT for understanding of abrasive and molecular revel phenomena in CMP process, finally, we verified that two types of AE sensor with different bandwidth were complementary for CMP process monitoring.

  • Since the eco-era is getting closer, the importance of noise reducing in the passenger cars of high-speed train is very important. The active noise control is best choice to reduce low frequency noise because the passive one is too heavy for high speed trains where weight is so critical. Also ANC is able to reduce the ambient noise when the environmental-factor changes. To reduce a three-dimensional closed-space sound field like a car of a high-speed rail is hard to do using single channel ANC control system. We used multi-channel FXLMS algorithm which calculation speed is fast and the secondary path estimation is possible in order to take into account the physical delay in electro acoustic hardware control loudspeaker and power amplifier. Firstly, we have measured interior noise of KTX and estimated noise path in KTX test-bed. However there was some problem related to algorithm divergence and increasing the filter order. We have made a simulation of interior environment of KTX car by using three frequency bands of 120Hz, 280Hz, 360Hz as the most important for KTX ANC system. During this research the interior noise reduction of KTX car was made by using the multi-channel FXLMS algorithm. Reduction performance was evaluated and compared each other for open space section and tunnel section. in-situ experiment for the KTX noise reduction by proposed ANC was performed based on data obtained in simulation and they were compared for open space section and tunnel section as well.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop an algorithm of classification and interpretation of seafloor based on side scan sonar data. The algorithm consists of mosaicking of sonar data using navigation data, correction and compensation of the acouctic amplitude data considering the charateristics of the side scan sonar system, and segmentation of the seafloor using digital image processing techniques. The correction and compensation process is essential because there is usually difference in acoustic amplitudes from the same distance of the port-side and the starboard-side and the amplitudes become attenuated as the distance is increasing. In this paper, proposed is an algorithm of compensating the side scan sonar data, and its result is compared with the mosaicking result without any compensation. The algorithm considers the amplitude characteristics according to the tow-fish's depth as well as the attenuation trend of the side scan sonar along the beam positions. This paper also proposes an image segmentation algorithm based on the texture, where the criterion is the maximum occurence related with gray level. The preliminary experiment has been carried out with the side scan sonar data and its result is demonstrated.

  • When aiming to reduce the low frequency noise of a subway guest room through sound absorbing treatment methods inside the wall of a tunnel the resonator is often more effective than a porous sound absorbing material. Therefore, the perforated panel type resonator embedded with a perforated panel is proposed. The perforated panel is installed in the neck, which is then extended into the resonator cavity so that it can ensure useful volume. The absorption performance of the perforated panel type of resonator is obtained by acoustic analysis and experiment. The analytical results are in good agreement with the experimental results. In the case of multiple perforated panel type resonators, as the number of perforated panels increase, the 1st resonance frequency is moved to a low frequency band and sound absorption bandwidth is extended on the whole. In order to obtain excellent absorption performance, the impedance matching between multi-panels should be considered. When the perforated panel in the resonator is combined with a porous material, the absorption performance is highly enhanced in the anti-resonance and high frequency range. In case of the resonator inserted with perforated panels of 2, the 2nd resonance frequency is shifted to a low frequency band in proportion to the distance between perforated panels.

  • This study examined the characteristics of linguistic prosody in terms of cerebral lateralization in three groups of 9 healthy speakers and 14 speakers with a history of stroke (7 with left hemisphere damage (LHD), 7 with right hemisphere damage (RHD)). Specifically, prosodic characteristics related to speech rate, duration, pitch, and intensity were examined in three types of interrogative sentences (wh-questions, yes-no questions, alternative questions) with auditory perceptual evaluation. As a result, the statistically significant key variables showed flaws in production of the linguistic prosody in the speakers with LHD. The statistically significant variables were more insufficiently produced for wh-questions than for yes-no and alternative questions. This trend was particularly noticeable in variables related to pitch and speech rate. This result suggests that when Korean speakers process linguistic prosody, such as that of lexico-semantic and syntactic information in interrogative sentences, the left hemisphere seems to be superior to the right hemisphere.

  • This paper presented an efficient transceiver structure of multiband Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) signals with direct sequence spread spectrum for maintaining covertness and performance. In aspect to covertness, direct sequence spread spectrum method, which multiplying by Pseudo Noise (PN) codes whose rate is much higher than that of data sequence, is employed. In aspect to performance, in order to overcome performance degradation caused by multipath and Doppler spreading, we applied multiband, turbo equalization, and weighting algorithm are applied. Based on the simulation results, by applying 4 number of multiband and number of chips are 8 and 32, experiments were conducted in a lake with a distance of moving from 300 m to 500 m between the transceivers. we confirmed that the performance was improved as the number of bands and chips are increased. Furthermore, the performance of multiband was improved when the proposed weighting algorithm was applied.

  • In general, golden time refers to the most important time in the initial response to accidents such as saving lives or extinguishing fires. The golden time varies from disaster to disaster, but is aimed at five minutes in terms of fire and first aid. However, for the actual site, the average dispatch time for ambulances is 9 minutes and the average transfer time is 17.6 minutes, which is quite large compared to the golden time. There are various causes for this delay, but the main cause is traffic jams. In order to solve the problem, the government has established emergency car concession obligations and secured golden time to prioritize ambulances in places with the highest accident rate, but it is not a solution in rush hour when traffic is increasing rapidly. Therefore, this paper proposed a deep learning-based emergency vehicle priority signal system using collected sound data by installing sound sensors on traffic lights and conducted an experiment to classify frequency signals that differ depending on the distance of the emergency vehicle.
