Testing high reliability devices under nomal operating condition is difficult, because the devices are not likely to fail in the relatively short time available for tests. For most applications it is necessary to accelerate the causes of failure by increasing a stress above its nomal value. Previous accelerated life test(ALT) plans have shown how to find optimum allocation, lowest stress and sample size subject to minimizing the variance of mean life estimator. In these ALT plans, the highest acceptable test-stress was assumed to be specified in advance by the experimenter but there is no guidance for selecting it. This assumption is, however, inappropriate for many applications. Testing devices at too-high stress levels can invalidate the extrapolation model, or introduce failure mechanisms that are not anticipated under nomal operating conditions. In this paper, we propose new 4:2:1 compromise plans using Min-Max method to minimize this risk and present minimized test-stress levels(max, middle, min), and find sample allocation based on Min-Max 4:2:1 compromise plans. In result, we compare previous 4:2:1 compromise plans specified maximum test-stress with Min-Max 4:2:1 compromise plans minimized maximum test-stress.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the location of the outlets in the mechanical ventilation system installed in apartment. We performed the numerical analysis to estimate the ventilation effectiveness and the indoor $CO_2$ concentration considering the occupants and the condition with inlet and outlet in each room. From the numerical results, modified location of the outlets is about 10% high than designed one with respect to the ventilation effectiveness when the occupants are not considered. But designed location of inlet and outlet in living room and kitchen is better than modified one with respect to the reduction of $CO_2$ concentration in the living room and kitchen with occupants. In case of our model, Air change per hour (0.7) is not enough to sustain the acceptable criteria of $CO_2$ concentration (1000ppm) in the room with the occupants
To poodnce a value added of mulberry, this study was optimized the condition for manufacture of wine using mulberry. On fermentation of mulberry wine, the best yeasts were Saccharomyces cerevisiae JBS 30 and JBS 33, and optimum composition of medium was crushed mulberry juice of $50\%$, sugar of $24\;^{\circ}brix,\;Na_2S_2O_5\;of\;0.02\%$. The content of alcohol after fermentation of 10 days at $25^{\circ}C$ was $11.2\%$. Sensory evaluation showed that color, taste and odor of mulberry wine were acceptable, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae JBS 30 was not difference compared to JBS 33.

This paper is to optimize single-element piezoresistor shear stress strain gauge related to aspect ratio of rectangular diaphragm. The shear stress distribution on diaphragm has been simulated by finite-element method(FEM). As simulation results, the maximum sensitivity for strain gauge was appeared at the center of diaphragm with aspect ratio 3, and in along to long edge with the ratio 2. The diaphragm with ratio 2 is not acceptable due to the yield of mask alignment in IC process technology. The optimum condition of diaphragm with respect to good sensitivity was realized in the case of ratio 3. In this case, the area by gauge was 8% of overall size of rectangular diaphragm.
With modification of the acid etch technique and improvements of the physical and mechanical properties of the acrylic resin, the removal of directly bonded attachments and the finishing of the underlying enamel have become an acute clinical problem. This study was to evaluation the efficacy of recently introduced instrumentation and techniques to remove bonded brackets and residual resin, and restore the affected enamel surface to an acceptable clinical condition. Fortyeight premolar which were scheduled for extraction for orthodontic purposes were bonded with brackets using super-C ortho. Four additional premolars with untreated surfaces were used as controls. After one weak the brackets were removed and the residual resin removed by hand scaler, green stone, green rubber wheel, sandpaper disc, tungsten carbide bur, Sof-lex disc. Half the experimental teeth were given a final pumicing and then all were extracted and stored in 50 percent ethanol. The scanning electron microscopy was used to evaluated the enamel surface. Following results were obtained; 1. A satisfactory result was obtained by means of the Sof-lex disc. 2. The order of the scratch formation was the procedure using hand scaler, green atone, tungsten carbide bur, sandpaper disc, green rubber wheel, and Sof-lex disc. 3. The procedures using green stone and tungsten carbide bur showed many groove formations and the other procedures showed none. 4. final pumicing serves effectively to remove residual adhesive and restore the enamel surface.

This study is a preliminary research to develop design principles for environmentally friendly housing. The purposes of study are to investigate the literatures related passive design for summer and theory of ventilation, to analyze the indoor airflow patterns in traditional Korean house during summer, and to propose the design factors for effective passive cooling system. The analysis for airflow patterns was focused on the ‘An bang’and the ‘Dae Chung’in the ‘An Chae’of a traditional house located in Seoul. Field measurements of air temperature and air velocity were carried out at 30 different measuring points with 8 different window-opening conditions. The measurements were taken on the hottest summer days in August 2000. It is concluded that from an environmentally friendly standpoint design factors to control indoor thermal environment by a passive cooling system during the summer are as follows; ceiling structure has thermal performance like a time-lag effect, optimum height and length of eaves which can prevent sunlight and divert airflow toward the sitting level, building arrangement acceptable the prevailing wind, strategic window arrangement which makes cross ventilation possible (especially north-south) at the sitting level, window opening condition which is possible to intersect two cross-ventilation stream at the main living areas, northward windows remaining in shade to create the air pressure difference, and planning building shape like a bracket that has optimum width and depth.

In this paper, the load-deflection analysis of the Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) strengthened Reinforced Concrete (RC) slab using Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) is investigated. Six reinforced concrete slabs having dimension $1800{\times}400{\times}120mm$ with similar steel bar of 2T10 and strengthened using different length and width of CFRP were tested and compared with similar samples without CFRP. The experimental load-deflection results were normalized and then uploaded in MATLAB software. Loading, CFRP length and width were as neurons in input layer and mid-span deflection was as neuron in output layer. The network was generated using feed-forward network and a internal nonlinear condition space model to memorize the input data while training process. From 122 load-deflection data, 111 data utilized for network generation and 11 data for the network testing. The results of model on the testing stage showed that the generated RNN predicted the load-deflection analysis of the slabs in acceptable technique with a correlation of determination of 0.99. The ratio between predicted deflection by RNN and experimental output was in the range of 0.99 to 1.11.
Connection of adjacent buildings with stiff links is an efficient approach for seismic pounding mitigation. However, use of highly rigid links might alter the torsional response in asymmetric plans and although this was mentioned in the literature, no quantitative study has been done before to investigate the condition numerically. In this paper, the effect of rigid coupling on the elastic lateral-torsional response of two adjacent one-story column-type buildings has been studied by comparison to uncoupled structures. Three cases are considered, including two similar asymmetric structures, two adjacent asymmetric structures with different dynamic properties and a symmetric system adjacent to an adjacent asymmetric one. After an acceptable validation against the actual earthquake, the traditional random vibration method has been utilized for dynamic analysis under Ideal white noise input. Results demonstrate that rigid coupling may increase or decrease the rotational response, depending on eccentricities, torsional-to-lateral stiffness ratios and relative uncoupled lateral stiffness of adjacent buildings. Results are also discussed for the case of using identical cross section for all columns supporting eachplan. In contrast to symmetric systems, base shear increase in the stiffer building may be avoided when the buildings lateral stiffness ratio is less than 2. However, the eccentricity increases the rotation of the plans for high rotational stiffness of the buildings.
The study investigates the various Acceptance Control Charts (ACCs) based on the factors that include process independence, data weighting scheme, subgrouping, and use of control charts. USL - LSL > $6{\sigma}$ that used in the good condition processes in the ACCs are designed by considering user's perspective, producer's perspective and both perspectives. ACCs developed from the research is efficiently applied by using the simple control limit unified with APL (Acceptable Process Level), RLP (Rejectable Process Level), Type I Error $\alpha$, and Type II Error $\beta$. Sampling interval of subgroup examines i.i.d. (Identically and Independent Distributed) or auto-correlated processes. Three types of weight schemes according to the reliability of data include Shewhart, Moving Average(MA) and Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) which are considered when designing ACCs. Two types of control charts by the purpose of improvement are also presented. Overall, $\alpha$, $\beta$ and APL for nonconforming proportion and RPL of claim proportion can be designed by practioners who emphasize productivity and claim defense cost.

This paper presents the performance evaluation of an adaptive QAM scheme under flat and frequency selective fading channels for indoor wireless communication systems. The QAM modulation is combined with differential encoding and the demodulation process is carried out noncoherently. The adaptation is performed by varying the modulation level of QAM, depending upon received signal strength. The adaptation mechanism allows a 2- or 3-bit increase or decrease at a time, if the channel condition is considered to be significantly good or bad. Simulation results show that the average number of bits per symbol (ABPS) for each symbol block transmitted over a flat fading channel is higher than 5.0 and the BER performance is better than 10^-4 for a SNR value higher than 30 dB. For frequency selective fading channels, an oversampling technique in the receiver was employed. The BER performance obtained for frequency selective fading channels is better than 10^-4 with a SNR value of 40 dB and ABPS is found to be approximately 5.5. Therefore, this scheme is very useful in that it provides both very high bandwidth efficiency and acceptable performance with moderate SNR values over flat and frequency selective fading channels. In addition, this scheme provides reduced receiver complexity by way of noncoherent detection.
