  • The purpose of this paper is to validate energy absorbing capacity that satisfies APTA SS-C&S-034-99, REV.2 with North America type Electric Multiple Units. The FE models for collision and corner post simulation were developed. Two type of simulation were conducted. One is quasi-static analysis for collision post and the other is quasi-static analysis for corner post. And the energy absorption capacity of the analytical model was verified.

이상점성 처리된 Mg-3, 6wt%Ni합긍의 수소화 특성평가 (Evaluation of Hydrogenation Properties of Thixotropic Mg-3, 6wt%Ni Hydrogen Absorbing Alloys)

  • Magnesium-3, 6wt% Nickel alloys were fabricated by Rotation-Cylinder Method(RCM) in ambient atmosphere. The alloys were divided into two different heat-treating conditions, as-cast and thixotropic treated. Thixotropic heat treatment enhances the separation of primary hydride former of Mg and the catalytic phase of $Mg_2$Ni. Hydrogenation properties of the each alloy were evaluated and compared by PCI(Pressure-Composition Isotherm) measurement. The maximum hydrogen capacity and the reversible capacity of as -cast Mg-6wt% Ni alloy were 5.2wt% and 3.8wt% at 623k, respectively.

  • The use of highly absorptive materials in cement-based materials is increasing for internal curing purpose. However, calculation of correct absorption capacity of such materials is not easy, which leads to change in the effective water-to-cement ratio of cement paste by either absorbing or releasing water. In this study, effective absorption capacity of a highly absorptive material was found using isothermal calorimetry. Moreover, the effect of specific surface area was investigated. It was found that the method was capable of finding effective water absorption capacity of activated carbon fiber. For the activated carbon fiber used in this research, the effect of specific surface area was negligible because the high BET surface area was due to micropores less than 1nm, which does not affect the rate of hydration curve. Thus, the effective absorption capacity of such materials can be found successfully using this method.

  • This paper aims to design a variable-stiffness type economical safety joint for service robots. The safety joint was designed to have a passive shock absorbing mechanism for protecting human from a catastrophic collision under service condition of robots. A simple mechanism composed of two action disks for switching the load transfer, a spring and a screw for pre-load was proposed. In order to evaluate the performance of the safety joint a testing platform which can carry out the static and impact tests was also designed and fabricated. From the test results, the designed safety joint was proved to have a variable load-carrying capacity and about 42% impact absorption capacity with simple manipulation of the control screw.

  • The fundamental spot welded sections of automobiles (hat-shaped and double hat-shaped sections) absorb most of the energy in a front impact collision. The sections of various thickness, shape and weld width on the flange lave been tested on axial impact crush load (Mass 40kg, Velocity 7.19m/sec) using a vertical air pressure crash est device Characteristics of impact collapse have been reviewed and a structure of optimal energy absorbing capacity is suggested.

  • 토사질을 제거하여 자숙 탈각한 개량 조개육을 BHA 또는 EDTA 처리를 하여 열풍건조 및 천일건조 하였다. 이 건제품을 유리병에 넣어 밀폐한 다음 암실에서 3개월간 저장 하였을 때 색소 잔존율 및 흡수성의 변화를 실험한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 열풍건제품과 천일건제품 모두 저장중 색소 소실이 심하였다. 2) BHA를 처리한 제품은 EDTA 처리 또는 대조제품 보다 저장중 색소 소실이 적었다. 3) 열풍건제품과 천일건제품 모두 저장중 흡수율이 현저하게 감소하였다. 그리고 BHA 또는 EDTA 처리가 흡수성에 미치는 뚜렷한 효과는 찾아 볼 수 없었다.

터보냉동기의 소음원 파악 및 저소음화에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Identification of Noise Source and the Noise Reduction Method of a Turbo Chiller)

  • In this paper, we identify the noise source and the path of a chiller. This chiller is newly developed for R-l34a refrigerant and 250 RT cooling capacity. The measured overall SPL of the developed turbo-chiller is about 100 dBA. Due to the high rotating speed of the centrifugal impeller, the nun noise source of the chiller is the blade passing frequency and its higher harmonics of the centrifugal impeller. This generated soundpropagates through the duct, and then transmits and radiates to the outer field. From the experiment, it is found that the high frequency noise is mostlytransmitted and radiated through the elbow duct, but the low frequency noise is transmitted and vadiated through the condenser wall. Therefore applying the absorbing material is an effective way of reducing the high and low frequency noise simultaneously. Measurement results show that the application of the sound absorbing material to the elbow duct reduced the overall sound pressure level by 4 dB compared to the 9 dBA reduction for the case of full enclosure. In order to control the generated noise, a dissipativetype silencer is also designed and tested. The silencer reduced the radiated noise about 7.5 dBA.

스페이스프레임에 사용되는 에너지 흡수형 볼트의 인장성능연구 (A study on Tensile performance of Energy Absorbing Bolts in Space Frame)

  • 스페이스프레임의 볼 조인트 접합부에서는 축부에 핀의 삽입을 위한 구멍이 존재하기 때문에 응력집중으로 인한 취성파단의 우려가 있다. 따라서 접합부에서의 변형능력이나 에너지흡수능력은 낮은 편이다. 본 연구에서는 볼 조인트 접합부의 소성변형능력을 향상시키기고 현장에서 발생할 수 있는 시공오차의 흡수가 가능하도록, 볼트의 나사부나 핀부의 취성파단 없이 감소된 축부에서 소성변형능력이 기대되는 새로운 접합상세를 개발하였으며 수치해석과 실험을 통해 그 성능을 검증하고자 하였다. 수치해석과 실험을 통하여 볼트의 축부 및 핀부의 단면을 조절함으로써 기존 고력볼트보다 소성변형능력이 향상됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

노년 여성을 위한 낙상충격 보호팬츠 디자인 프로토타입 (Prototype of Fall Impact Protective Pants for Elderly Women)

  • Elderly women have a high risk of falling down in their daily lives. The purpose of this study is to develop protective pants for elderly women, which will mitigate the impact of falls, and play a major role in reducing injuries. The two types of design were proposed for development of protective pants by selecting pad insertion point and inserting lining for keeping pad in place through the checklist to investigate from the interviews with the medical workers and the investigation of the user requirement. Design A has protective pads in the hip, hip joint, and knee, while design B has protective pads in the hip and hip joint area. For the impact absorbing material, CR (chloroprene rubber) foam was selected for its flexibility, lightness, and impact absorbing capacity, and its pad shapes were designed to produce much flexibility in consideration of the activity and human body fitness of the wearers. Three kinds of pad types, which are the cut type, the porous type, and the honeycomb type, were proposed, and were manufactured to fit into the protective parts according to their design types.
