  • The electromechanical energy conversion conditioning and processing implementation in USM direct motion control system is generally divided into two power stages: the two-phase high-frequency ac power inversion stage for driving piezoelectric ceramic PZT transducer array off the USM stator and the mechanical thrust power conversion stage based on the frictional force between the piezo electric stator array and the rotary slider of the USM. However, the dynamic and steady-state mathematical modeling of the USM is extremely default from a theoretical point of view because it contains many complicated an nonlinear characteristics dependant on operation temperature. In +2$0^{\circ}C$~3$0^{\circ}C$, the operating characteristics of the USM has represented normal condition. But the other temperature, it has abnormal condition so that driving frequency, current and motor speed will be down. The recent USM has controller without temperature compensation. This study represents the fuzzy controller for speed compensation according to operating temperature by driving frequency.

Network Analysis of microRNAs, Genes and their Regulation in Mantle Cell Lymphoma

  • The pathogenesis of mantle cell lymphoma, a special subtype of lymphoma that is invasive and indolent and has a median survival of 3 to 4 years, is still partially unexplained. Much research about genes and miRNAs has been conducted in recent years, but interactions and regulatory relations of genetic elements which may play a vital role in genesis of MCL have attracted only limited attention. The present study concentrated on regulatory relations about genes and miRNAs contributing to MCL pathogenesis. Numerous experimentally validated raw data were organized into three topology networks, comprising differentially expressed, associated and global examples. Comparison of similarities and dissimilarities of the three regulating networks, paired with the analysis of the interactions between pairs of elements in every network, revealed that the differentially expressed network illuminated the carcinogenicity mechanism of MCL and the related network further described the regulatory relations involved, including prevention, diagnosis, development and therapy. Three kinds of regulatory relations for host genes including miRNAs, miRNAs targeting genes and genes regulating miRNAs were concluded macroscopically. Regulation of the differentially expressed miRNAs was also analyzed, in terms of abnormal gene expression affecting the MCL pathogenesis. Special regulatory relations were uncovered. For example, auto-regulatory loops were found in the three topology networks, key pathways of the nodes being highlighted. The present study focused on a novel point of view revealing important influencing factors for MCL pathogenesis.

Adaptive Detection of Unusual Heartbeat According to R-wave Distortion on ECG Signal (심전도 신호에서 R파 왜곡에 따른 적응적 특이심박 검출)

  • Arrhythmia electrocardiogram signal contains a specific unusual heartbeat with abnormal morphology. Because unusual heartbeat is useful for diagnosis and classification of various diseases, such as arrhythmia, detection of unusual heartbeat from the arrhythmic ECG signal is very important. Amplitude and kurtosis at R-peak point and RR interval are characteristics of ECG signal on R-wave. In this paper, we provide a method for detecting unusual heartbeat based on these. Through the value of the attribute deviates more from the average value if unusual heartbeat is more certainly, the proposed method detects unusual heartbeat in order using the mean and standard deviation. From 15 ECG signals of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database which has R-wave distortion, we compare the result of conventional method which uses the fixed threshold value and the result of proposed method. Throughout the experiment, the sensitivity is significantly increased to 97% from 50% using the proposed method.

A Study on the thermal comfort change according to the Planting Type in housing complex (공동주택 단지 내 식재유형에 따른 온도저감 효과 연구)

  • The rapid urbanization caused drastic temperature changes in Korea. Excessive urbanization and development result in unpredictable and abnormal climate change all over the world. These changes are reflected in Korean government policy and research about cities, such that various research endeavors have been undergone recently. There are lots of ways to improve the urban environment; the easiest way to solve the urban heat effect problem is to make green spaces within the city. Even though we can't enlarge green spaces over the city limitlessly, it is desperately need for a methodology to efficiently create green space in limited area. Based on awareness of issues as mentioned earlier, we would like to propose landscaping method that can increase thermal comfort in the same area. For this study, simulating the change of temperature, mean radiant temperature, PMV were done due to number of species planted in apartment complex. To increase the reliability of the simulation, first above all, field measurement for temperature change was performed in apartment complex, where residential building are arranged in the form of ㄷ. And based on this data, Envi-met simulation was performed varying 1-7 kinds of species divided by grass, shrubs, arbor (deciduous, conifers) planted in apartment complex. As a result, there was a change less than $1^{\circ}C$ with the increasing number of species in daytime, but the average radiation temperature about $6-7^{\circ}C$ was reduced. In addition, PMV index was improved by more than 0.5 point. Thermal comfort indicator improved significantly depending on the number of species during the day, on the other hand, there were no significant changes at night. As a consequence, this study has shown that not single-species planting but mixed planting varied the number of species would improve the thermal comfort in the same area of landscaping space at daytime.

Alteration in miRNA Expression Profiling with Response to Nonylphenol in Human Cell Lines

  • Exposures to environmental chemicals that mimic endogenous hormones are proposed for a number of adverse health effects, including infertility, abnormal prenatal and childhood development and above all cancers. In addition, recently miRNA (micro RNA) has been recognized to play an important role in various diseases and in cellular and molecular responses to toxicants. In this study, endocrine disrupting environmental toxicant, nonylphenol (NP) was treated to MCF-7 (Human breast cancer cell) and HepG2 (Human hepatocellular liver carcinoma) cell line at 3 hrs and 48 hrs time point and miRNA analysis using $mirVana^{TM}$ miRNA bioarray was performed and compared with total mRNA microarray data for the same cell line and treatment. Robust data quality was achieved through the use of dye-swap. Analysis of microarray data identifies a total of 20 and 11 miRNA expressions at 3 hrs and 48 hrs exposure to NP in MCF-7 cell line and a total of 14 and 47 miRNA expression at 3 hrs and 48 hrs exposure respectively to NP in HepG2 cell line. Expression profiling of the selected miRNA (let-7c, miR-16, miR-195, miR-200b, miR200c, miR-205, and miR-589) reveals changes in the expression of target genes related to metabolism, immune response, apoptosis, and cell differentiation. The present study can be informative and helpful to understand the role of miRNA in molecular mechanism of chemical toxicity and their influence on hormone dependent disease. Also this study may prove to be a valuable tool for screening potential estrogen mimicking pollutants in the environment.

The Validity and Reliability of Reflux Symptom(RSI) Index and Reflux Finding Score(RFS) (역류증상지수와 역류소견점수의 타당성과 신뢰도)

  • Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is the retrograde movement of gastric contents into the larynx, pharynx, and upper aero-digestive tract. LPR differs from gastroesophageal reflux in that it is often not associated with heartburn and regurgitation symptoms. Otolaryngological manifestations of acid reflux include a wide range of pharyngeal and laryngeal symptoms. Belafsky et al. developed a useful self-administered tool, the reflux symptom index (RSI), for assessing the degree of LPR symptoms. Patients are asked to use a 0 to 5 point scale to grade the following symptoms: 1) hoarseness or voice problems; 2) throat clearing; 3) excess throat mucus or postnasal drip ; 4) difficulty swallowing; 5) coughing after eating or lying down; 6) breathing difficulties ; 7) troublesome or annoying cough; 8) sensation of something sticking or a lump in the throat; 9) heartburn, chest pain, indigestion or stomach acid coming up. A RSI score greater than 13 is considered abnormal. As there is no validated instrument to document the physical findings and severity of LPR, Belafsky et al. developed an eight-item clinical severity scale for judging laryngoscopic finding, the reflux finding score (RFS). They rated eight LPR-associated findings on a scale from 0 to 4 : subglottic edema, ventricular obliteration, erythema/hyperemia, vocal-fold edema, diffuse laryngeal edema, posterior commissure hypertrophy, granuloma/granulation tissue, and thick endolaryngeal mucus. A RFS score of greater than 7 was found to suggest LPR-associated laryngitis. Although both indices (RSI and RFS) are widely used, there is some controversy about their validity (sensitivity and specificity) and reliability (intra-rater and inter-rater) in LPR diagnosis and treatment. We discuss the validity and reliability of RSI and RFS with literature review.

JAK-2 V617F Mutational Analysis in Primary Idiopathic Myelofibrosis: Experience from Southern Pakistan

  • Background: Primary idiopathic myelofibrosis (PMF) is a clonal Ph-chromosome negative myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by dysregulated kinase signaling and release of abnormal cytokines. In the recent past, following JAK2 V617F mutation invention, important revolution has been made in the molecular diagnostic biology of this disease. The rational of this study was to determine the mutational status of JAK2 V617F in Pakistan patients with PMF. Materials and Methods: In this cross sectional study, 20 patients with PMF were enrolled from January 2011 to December 2014. Diagnosis was based on WHO criteria for PMF. All patients were screened for G-T point mutation (V617F) in the JAK2 gene on chromosome 9 by allele specific PCR. Results: The mean age was $57.9{\pm}16.5years$. The male to female ratio was 3:1. The frequency of JAK2 V617F positivity in our PMF patients was found to be 55%. Positive correlations of JAK2 V617F mutation were established with high TLC count, raised LDH and marked splenomegaly (P<0.05). No correlation of JAK2 V617F could be established with age and gender (P>0.05). Conclusions: The JAK2 V617F mutation frequency in our PMF patients was similar to those reported previously. In our hands JAK2 V617F mutated patients expressed an aggressive disease phenotype. Screening for the mutation in all suspected PMF cases could be beneficial in differentiating patients with reactive and clonal marrow fibrosis.

  • Now the number value of total cholesterol is ascending as increasing consumption of meat in our country. In this point, total cholesterol examinee in urban and rural community, with age, with sex, classified and make percentage according to the abnormal. The current of abnormalities has been understood how changed during seven years. also present time, in good manner. The value used in analysis was drawn from 1984 to 1990 by Korean Association of Health Taegue branch and kyung-buk branch with the value of the abnormalities of total cholesterol in urban and rural community have been compared during past seven years. The result were as follows : 1) During past seven years. The total examinee were 107,945. Abnormalities of rural people in 74,693 were 1.4% and abnormalities of urban people in 34,252 were 2.7%. Now we find out that abnormalities of urban people are higher 1.3% than those of rural people. 2) In inspecting, 108,945 cases of total cholesterol abnormality with age are followed. Less than 20yr(0.3%) 20-29yr(1.0%) 30-39yr(1.5%) 40-49yr(1.6%) 50-59yr(2.4%) more than 60yr(2.5%). The percentage of abnormalities was increased with age in both sexes. 3) In male and female, the abnormality of male was higher 0.6% than that of female, respectively 37,525(2.0%) 71,420(1.7%) examinee of total cholesterol in 108.945.

  • Objective : The aim of this study is to reveal the meaning of Shi-Dong-Bing and Suo-Sheng-Bing through investigating the origin of Shi-Dong-Bing and Suo-Sheng-Bing. Methods : We analyzed and compared the meridian symptoms of "ju Bi Shi Yi Mai Jiu Jing, "Ju Bi", "Yin Yang Shi Yi Mai Jiu Jing" and "Lin Shu Jing Mai". Results : Suo-Sheng-Bing seems to have been originated from the meridian symptoms of "Ju Bi" and Shi-Dong-Bing is different from the meridian symptoms of "Ju Bi". therefore two meridian symptoms differ in the source of formation and they seems to be different concerning recognition system for disease. Conclusion : Shi-Dong-Bing is the meridian symptoms, in case of feeling abnormal beat by pulse diagnosis, and this pulse diagnosis method is comparative pulse diagnosis method that compare all the pulse point of every meridians. Suo-Sheng-Bing seems to be the meridian symptoms describing the disease of somatic surface with making reference to meridian-circulating positions, afterward have been increased to the related internal organ's disease.

Global Warming and Trends of Typhoon Variation (지구 온난화와 태풍의 변화 경향)

  • This paper studies relationship between global warming and trends of typhoon variation by using the meteorological long-term data. The results show that yearly mean typhoon's occurrence numbers decrease and maximum wind speeds strengthen gradually. These results are in accord with most of simulated results. While the normal course of typhoon is increased, the westward course of that is decreased. Typhoon trajectories show that the ratios of normal course 6 : westward course 3 : abnormal course 1 in the last 10 years. Among typhoons which affect to the Korea ones pass through the southern coast of Korea are the most. The numbers of typhoon pass through the western coast of Korea are decreased and those pass through the eastern coast of Korea show increasing trend lately. The notable point in relation to the global warming is that typhoon intensity is strengthened gradually. Watch and counterplan in the viewpoint of prevention to the meteorological disasters are required.
