A Fiber Model Based on Secondary Development of ABAQUS for Elastic-Plastic Analysis

  • With the aim to provide an efficient platform for the elastic-plastic analysis of steel structures, reinforced concrete (RC) structures and steel-concrete composite structures, a program iFiberLUT based on the fiber model was developed within the framework of ABAQUS. This program contains an ABAQUS Fiber Generator which can automatically divide the beam and column cross sections into fiber sections, and a material library which includes several concrete and steel uniaxial material models. The range of applications of iFiberLUT is introduced and its feasibility is verified through previously reported test data of individual structural members as well as planar steel frames, RC frames and composite frames subjected to various loadings. The simulation results indicate that the developed program is able to achieve high calculation accuracy and favorable convergence within a wide range of applications.

  • In this paper, some of the critical factors in Necking-In process are investigated using a numerical analysis. The optimal processing parameters are established and applied to the actual processes. FEM analysis is carried out based on elastic-plastic work hardening model using ABAQUS/Standard. The results obtained from the commercially available code ABAQUS/Standard are compared with the experimental data and shows a good agreement with experimental data. The purpose of this paper is to search for the relations among the roller angle, feed length, and working force. Stress, strain distribution, displacement and increase in the length of the workpiece are also investigated.

  • Modified Gurson model (Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman model) was used to analyze crack growth in M(T) and C(T) specimens. A commercial finite element code ABAQUS/Explicit is used to account for total failure of material point by cavity coalescence, and crack growth was simulated by finite element extinction. Crack growth resistance curve was obtained by calculating J-integral. Crack growth under residual stress was investigated.

  • This study investigated the collision of ships withfloating pier structures. The nature of the collision phenomenon is complex, and the understanding of it has developed through the modelling of offshore structures. ABAQUS software was used to investigate the collision phenomenon. The interaction between the ship and structural system was modelled, and the stress distribution both at thetime of collision and afterwardswasobserved and modelled. The strain energy absorption by different structural partswas calculated and comparisonswere made.

  • 한국과학기술연구원(KIST)부설 시스템공학연구소(SERI)가 보유하여 일반 사용자들에게 공개하고 있는 구조해석 S/W/로는 ABAQUS, ADINA, BOPACE-3D, DYNA-3D, MSC/NASTRAN, DIS/ADLPIPE, SAP5, KISTRAS, NONSAP, MARC 등을 들 수 있다. 이들 중 DIS/ADLPIPE, SAP5, KISTRAS, NONSAP은 CDC CYBER 960-31에 설치되어 있고 MARC는 NAS AS/XLV50에 설치되어 있으며 나머지는 CRAY-25 슈퍼컴퓨터에 설치되어 있다. 본 고에서는 이들 중에서 CRAY-2S 슈퍼컴퓨터에 설치되어 있으며 다양한 비선형 구조해석기능을 가지고 있는 ABAQUS, ADINA, MSC/NASTRAN 및 DYNA-3D에 대하여 개요, 기능 및 사용방법을 간략히 소개하고저 한다.

  • Residual stress caused in the weldments with high restraint force are often during welding observed in the weldments of large size nozzles or radial tanks. The reason is that quantitative analysis about thermal stresses during welding is lack for this weldments. To verify FEM theory, the temperature was measured with thermocouple in a real time in this paper. Also analysis of the thermal stress for welding condition is performed by ABAQUS program package on various welding condition in STS butt welding.

  • We present the numerical implementation, simulation, and validation of the high-velocity impact experiments that have been described in the companion article. In this part, numerical investigations and simulations performed to mimic the tests are presented. The experiments were analyzed by the explicit integration-based software ABAQUS for improved simulations. Targets were modeled with a damaged plasticity model for concrete. Computational results of residual velocity and crater dimensions yielded acceptable results.

  • 서스펜션 구조시스템에서 구조물의 하중을 지지하는 인장재 사이에 삽입되어 인장력을 조절하는 장치가 턴버클이다. 하지만 기존의 상용화되어있는 턴버클은 인장재에 작용하는 하중의 크기를 측정하는 것이 어렵다. 그리하여 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 인장력 측정이 가능한 측정용 턴버클을 개발하고자 여러 연구를 진행해왔다. 본 논문에서는 이전 연구에서 문제점으로 언급된 국부적인 항복을 방지하고, 항복하중의 최대화에 초점을 두고 있으며 시험적인 단계를 넘어 실용화 단계의 새로운 측정용 턴버클을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위하여, 이론적 해석을 바탕으로 제시된 해석모델로 유한요소 해석프로그램 ABAQUS 해석을 수행하고 제작된 실험체로 실험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 이론적 해석, ABAQUS 해석, 실험의 결과는 대체로 일치하는 것으로 나타났다.
