We have studied the methods to connect homes with a digital network and apply home automation to education. We presented the possibility of integrated education where public education at school can be extended to home. The hardwares related with home automation are continuously in development. We have demonstrated the materials appropriate for the levels of individual students with home network information, and studied methods of education.

In manufacturing of ships, problems to be solved are improvement of productivity and stabilization of quality due to the shortage of skilled workers. Working environment, in particular welding environment, is also to be improved. One solution among these problems is to rationalize and automate these working. This paper is focused on the welding automation technologies in shipbuilding industry. The features of shipbuilding in the aspect of automation are described, and the main welding robot systems to be developed by SRI are introduced in each working stages.

Fieldbus provides real-time data communication among field devices in the process control and manufacturing automation systems. This paper presents an implementation method of Profibus in the experimental model of manufacturing automation system. The manufacturing automation system considered in this paper consists of robots, NC machines, sensors, conveyers and PCs. The application task programs are developed on the basis of FMS/FMA7 communication services which are provided by Profibus application layer. The communication and application programs are developed in the real-time environment.

In this paper the domestic and worldwide trends of substation automation are described in order to cope with the coming new environment in this part On the world market of substation control it will be change from analog technology to digital technology. And the technology of a system integration relevant to a substation automation become more important than that of individual power apparatus. Therefore development of substation automation technology is needed.

Since DAS(Distribution Automation System) has been typically managed for feeder automation in passive manner, it has to be managed by operator when feeder over loadings are detected therefore it may be possible for propagating the over loaded area by operator's mistake. To overcome the defect, The author proposed the feeder switch automation using active database.

흠 네트워킹에 대한 관심이 높아지며 이를 실현하는데 필요한 Residential Home Gateway를 구현하기 위해 2000년 5월 OSGi에서 Open Service Gateway Specification을 발표했다. 본 논문에서는 이에 따른 Home Automation Controller를 구현하기 위한 방법을 논하고 있다. 먼저 Home Automation Controller의 개념에 대해서 알아보고 OSGi의 배경과 Open Service Gateway Specification의 내용을 살펴본다. 그리고 specification에 따른 Home Automation Controller용 개방형 서비스 게이트웨이를 구현하는 방법에 대해 고찰해 본다.

This paper propose the new concept and design method of PC based automation in factory automation. In order to apply this system, the essentially proposed three technologies are following - Using the industrial automation control language, recognized by IEC 1131-3 - to apply Windows-NT operation system - to apply the Fieldbus network based on international standards.
